Just a reference though , as i've had experience with this in the past If your provider DOES assign 100% static IP addresses , you will have one hell of a time convincing them to change it without a damned good reason , and I've never heard one that works in my 10+ years in IT.

Personally , i prefer a good HOSTS file over anything else :)

As for having sound effects but not music in Runescape , it sounds to me like MIDI format is being muted by your sound driver. As sound effects are WAV format , they would not be effected by this. Double click the volume control in your system tray , check if the mute box is checked on MIDI(sometimes labeled as SW SYNTH). If you dont have the volume control in your system tray. You can also reach the volume control by going to "Sound and Audio Devices" in your control panel and clicking on "Advanced" in the Device Volume catagory. If MIDI (or SW SYNTH) do not appear , you may have to set it to visible. In the volume control window , go to "Options > Properties" and check the appropriate box under "Show the following volume controls" and the click OK.

You could have just as easily posted the second half of your post and offered him/her the answer to his/her question without insulting his/her intelligence. You must also remember , that just because you are from the USA where english is the primary language , maybe he/she is not. Any eletronics store , best buy , circuit city , radioshack will carry single RCA cables that you need :) I'm not very familiar with the xbox setup as i dont have one , you MIGHT need a RCA cable splitter if the xbox has its own custom plug on its actual console :)

As a 99 smither , I can say for me , it was a matter of convience no , its not profitable anymore really, as barrows armor/dragon is far more widespread and superior . As stated above smithing was THE skill to have in the past as it was HUGE, and just because people dont want to buy our goods anymore , there still comes a certain level of respect from it. and what i meant by a matter of convience , its always nice that when you NEED a rune platebody for some reason , just get a hammer and make your own :)

You can force runescape to download itself by removing the old version of it find the folder C:\WINDOWS\.file_store_32 and delete it or if you happen to be on win2000 C:\WINNT\.file_store_32 Runescape will have no choice but to download the latest version from the server :)

Lithium batteries had the memory problem NiMH batteries which is THE standard now , do not :) charge it when you remember :)

Make sure you not ONLY STOP the messenger service , but set it to DISABLED :)

Check cable connections / jumper settings

Just about any unbuffered non-ECC PC-133 will suit you just fine :)
