Unfortunately, our site is based on fact, not personal experiences and opinion and listing specific worlds/locations only leads users to complain when they try those places and don't find what we "promised". Thanks for the suggestion though :) Crew Note: overcome by events now that Jagex has declared official worlds. :D

php files are simply text so any text editor can open them , wordpad, notepad, etc. No idea what the rest of your post was about, what text area? All I see is half of a form tag :?

How do you know that the mods aren't just browsing with their status set to hidden? It happens quite often , sometimes the mods just like to do their thing quietly. We are ALWAYS looking for candidates to increase the size and activity of the moderator team, that doesn't mean its easy to find suitable people. We could have 200 moderators and there is still going to be a time when none of them are online, that's life. Volunteering your services won't help your chances either, sorry.

As noted above by The Sith , this forum will eventually migrate over to phpBB3 . Its a much more efficient system , makes a lot better use of query caching, is almost 100% class based , etc etc. As comfortable as I am with v.2 , eventually it will lose support and be overrun by exploits that are yet to be found, much like Windows 9x is now. But , even after it goes gold , its going to be a short while before we ever try to make the change as we store a lot of custom data that will need to be integrated into the system first.

Recently Jagex has made changes to the Runescape game applet to block users from making numerous login attempts when trying to crack user passwords. Unfortunately this has forced the script kiddies to try and turn their password crackers onto fansites in an attempt to catch users who use the same username and password for multiple sites, as well as the game. I'd like to assure you that on top of the existing login prevention methods , additional measures have been taken and any person and/or script trying to repeatedly hit our login system with multiple login attempts will be blocked and locked out. Unfortunately this also means that if you happen to forget your password and enter it wrong too many times, you will also lock yourself out of the login form for a short period of time, so do not try to guess, use the forgot password link to reset your password using your email address. Forum Staff CANNOT undo this process, not even the Administrators, can unlock a disabled address .... you'll just have to wait and the more you try , the longer it will take. Don't forget , although security measures are in place here, they may not be everywhere, so you should NEVER use the same password on multiple sites/games. Also , since password crackers use a list of common words and phrases, always try to choose a password that is complex, using a combination of letters and numbers, and symbols if possible. Open Norton personal Firewall (theres probably an icon for it near the clock) click configure , then go to the programs tab it should look similar to this depending on the version you have installed

Crontab is the service which runs each individual cronjob, it was an honest mistake :P if your host/server has cPanel or something similar installed, there is an easy to use cron setup script in there (if you are allowed access to cron) if you have shell access , I can help you set it up , but seriously , as others have said , don't hit Jagex' servers often through an automated means, they WILL blacklist your server and render any and all tools useless. This is why we only have calculators and planners that update on user request and we try to use cookies to store that info as much as possible. I'd love to write a script that allowed users to get instant automatic stat updates on our website from the highscores list, but we'd start killing runescape.com and jagex would kick me in the face :P

and each and every one of them is susceptible to a large number of exploits. 1.3.x is no longer supported and they only recommend using it if you 100% ABSOLUTELY RELY on a module that was not yet made for 2.x 1.3

Mushkin ram is a horrid waste of money, you pay double for a name and get no added performance... Corsair XMS is great RAM, but has had a bad track record with the nforce4 650 chipset.

phpBB3 is currently on a Release Candidate , so its pretty close to having an official stable release. As said above, I just can't risk any data loss on a structure that may or may not change. But as for the original topic... This forum is so heavily modified that I don't even know if I would be able to make all the necessary changes to accommodate any new styles right now. Between advertising complaints and changes, breaking in a new Crew Leader, staff vacations due to summer, etc etc , I'm sorry but styles just aren't an option right now :(

After many suggestions and concerns, we have decided to test drive new advertising methods from another provider on our forum. Please feel free to continue to report inappropriate ads that may appear, but there is no reason to bring it to our attention that ads are appearing differently then you are used to. In the coming months, Silverion and I will be closely monitoring the displayed ads and making whatever changes are necessary to get rid of the annoying and intrusive ones. This change will have no effect on the Runetips helpsite as we are only using the forum to test drive the new advertisers

was it always that loud or did it just start making more noise then normal? if it was always that loud, then you got a fan that outputs a more db then you are comfortable with, replace the fan with something smaller/slower. If it just start, shut off the computer, open the case, remove the fan and clean it. Fans can often output more noise if the blades are covered in dirt/dust. If its clean , the bearings may be giving out, replace it.

a piece of hardware is always going to display storage space differently then a piece of software. Always trust the free space the actual piece of hardware says is available. But seriously, on an 80GB ipod, with only 8GB of data stored on it, why even worry about it ?

I highly recommend you get an updated antivirus package installed on that computer and get rid of it. (you will probably have to get a disk or burn one as you obviously cant download anything)
