If it boots up until just after the logo, it will be able to read the CD. All you have to make sure is that it is set to boot up from the CD in the BIOS, which is usually already like that.

If ctrl + F5 doesn't work, try ctrl + 0. Might be a simple resize, although it looks much more like a css issue.

There may be specific things that lead to such, but that's the generality of it. For a medium sized budget (say, $1200), AMD is good because you'll get the power for cheaper, even if it's slightly less reliable. For something really high-end, you'd best be shooting for an i7. I use an AMD Phenom II x4 (Black Edition), and I haven't had any problems (at least, nothing seemingly related to my processor). Oh, and an OS (Windows) and monitor will probably sum up to close or past $300. AMD processors are as reliable as Intel processors. The difference is in the specs.

I see one huge problem with this. This can be hacked and will be hacked. Especially if a weak password is used.

A 32bit OS can only use about 3.4GB of RAM, so a reinstall will be needed as well if there is 5GB of RAM in there.

On a graphics card upgrade thread, I think it is a good idea to debate a little. I do not agree that AMD processors are bad, in fact they're as good as Intel processors on quality side. For the graphics card, I'm going to have to agree with him. From my own experience and what I'm seeing with my friends, while AMD graphics cards are stronger and have better specs, Nvidia drivers are much more stable, which makes both brands peform the same. Unfortunately I've had a few BSODs with Ati drivers while I never had any with Nvidia cards.

Ultimate on 2GB of RAM is a bit much. You might try deactivating the windows functions that you don't need.

The mobo is on the wrong side of the case. No standard video cards will fit in there.

This time don't forget to make backups. That's quite a big loss of work.

So it is a Dell computer you have? None of this might actually be compatible, since it's a Dell. If you open the case, on which side is the motherboard?

I have a 50' ethernet cable going from my router to my Xbox which is on the other side of my appartment. Long enough and not too expensive, it's less than half the price of a new router. Also, does your rouer not come with a separate ethernet port than the others and a crossover cable? You plug that in your modem and you should be good to go, that's what it is for most (well all the routers and modems I've seen myself).

Probably not high load on the server but the road your connection takes between the computer and the server. Wonder why that would change though.

I made the error of buying Pro since I was getting it for the XP Mode, but over 1 year later, I still have yet to use it. Your programs will work on Windows 7 Home Premium.

Is a program trying to check if it gets updates?

Weird. I have yet to hit a compatibility problem with windows 7, and there are some old programs that I use.

Thank you very much for this, clears things up a bit. I'm no expert in networking but while I did know some stuff about it, now I know more. I won't be changing anything around though since there's only 2 days left and for that I can keep using my external hard drive. I'll know for next time though, and I thank you very much for this. It's just that with 8 devices I had to find a way to have them all on the network and had 2 of my computers a different places. When I'm back to my apartment it's going to be only 4 devices so the router is enough. Thanks, we can let this die now.

I am no expert at networking but one of them is a switch. The one I'm on is on a router and the one I'm trying to access is on the switch. The router is also on the switch. Anyway, I know that it works well using the remote desktop connection, but what I'm trying to do is connect to the other computer like in a vpn, I just can't recall how to do it. Or do I just have to create a vpn for such a small network?

Hi, question that is simple enough, I'm trying to connect through a home network that has 2 routers. With one computer on one router and the other on the other router, using the different things seem to give the same result: error message. They're all on Windows 7. The one that I'm using is Windows 7 Pro trying to connect to a Windows 7 Ultimate computer. I used the ip adress as well, as I remember being able to access other computers this way, I just can't recall how to do it. Thanks for the help guys. Wrote 2 routers to go faster, but one of them is a switch.

Not wanting to double post but I gotta say, this internet connection is not consistent at all! With that kind of ping, no wonder it's so slow. Can't wait till I get back to my Home.
