  1. If you're in this for creative writing, why can't you make up your own characters?
  2. Squeezing out potions from alchemy like a rabbit on fertility drugs should do the trick, too.

Actually, the idea behind iambic pentameter is that it has five "feet" of two syllables each, following the pattern of unstressed-stressed. Simply having ten syllables per line won't do it - it has to sound as close to natural speech as possible.
  4. Depends on the setting.
  5. you made it? I've made games using it.

What you're going to want to do is break up the monotony of those long blocks of dialogue. It's all well and good that characters are speaking, but it gets incredibly boring to watch a long-winded exchange of small talk, especially when entire conversations seem to happen without any visible interaction between people. Words come out of their mouths, but that's it? Where are the smiles? Where are the changes in tone? Where is the body language, and where are the little things that people do with their hands while they talk?

  8. While your writing is very good compared to the majority of work on this board, I highly doubt that it is Black Library quality. Maybe a short story of yours found it into one of the compilations, but you'll have to tell us which one. The Black Library takes on very talented people, though you'd hardly know it considering they publish the crap that hacks like Graham McNeill and C.S. Goto write...
  9. So, is your next thread going to be asking people to write your story one paragraph at a time for you?
  10. Or maybe she just sat next to you in the library because she knows you and doesn't want to seem rude by befriending the air instead.
  11. It sounds exactly like Lord of the Rings. In fact, the screenplay of the first movie, which doesn't make it any better.
  12. Going back further than a hundred years or so makes it impossible to get a decent idea of what the alternate present would be like, because there are so many variables to consider.

  14. Well, sometimes you just can't help but sell your soul to a ravening star vampire, y'know?
  15. Why would you die for your beliefs when it's far more productive to live for them?
  16. Your problem is that you wallow so much in self-pity that nobody feels any incentive to help.
  17. So, are you trying to tell me something I don't already know? I'm not seeing any point to your "discussion".
  18. I'm fairly sure that there is some leniency in place for minors who engage in intercourse. Something on the order of being within a year or two of each other's ages.

They are individuals within the group. They waive some of their privileges as individuals in order to ensure that their other freedoms, such as the right to maintain their own and their families' safety and property, are not violated by others. Just because they are part of the social contract doesn't instantly mean that they automatically lose all of their individuality. They can still be individuals within the bounds of society, but they have to accept the consequences if their individuality means that they have to perform aberrant acts. And let's face it. People like being told what to do. Knowing that someone is in charge means that they don't have to think of everything for themselves.

The need for social security and stability outweighs the desire for complete individual autonomy. That's how society works. If you didn't want to subscribe to that, then you're better off taking yourself out of society altogether, because individual and communal needs are not congruent.
