Slayer

My main goal was the helm. After that the ring. You can use assistance to make them and the teles are handy (especially for Summona's dungeon). Make sure you always leave 100 or 30 points free incase you get a bad task. I mucked up by getting the ring and only leaving 25 slayer points. Then I got Warped Terrorbirds. Lost my streak which sucked. The arrows are hardly worth it but I would unlock the ability to make for possible future use. The XP isn't worth it. Get the runes and sell for cash. As for skipping tasks and such I find all tasks are bearable except WarpedTerrorbirds and Skelly Wyverns. The rest I can do without much of an issue. Sure sometimes I skip steel dragons for speed but if push comes to shove I can do them. I hear Dark Beasts are also a pain, but am not yet at 90 to find out for myself, may be worth the hassle for chance of Dark Bow (like Mithril Dragons and DFH)

The ring does not crumble away after it's uses, you get the gem back and can then re-make it into another ring. Most people have a huge stash of rings though as they are so cheap.

ZMI is going to be fastest XP but with mediocre reward. From my point of view it's worth using the GOP to get altar teletabs. Using the old version (pre todays update) you could feasibley get about 4k tokens in an hour which was approx 90 death altar trips. In 40 mins (abby lurker timer) I was able to craft 1700 deaths at 71 rc. Roughly equates to 488k per 40 mins (not counting ess cost). Not a bad little earner. With todays update when you get tokens for losing, it makes it worth doing even more.

Great update. 1. Run on main screen is so useful. 2. Tiaras can now be used, yay! Thank god I didn't actually get another death talisman the old way. 3. Most importantly though you get tokens even if your team lose in GOP. Why this wasn't the case anyway is beyond me as it gives the losing team an incentive to play on. Something like 5 tokens per orb then an extra 25 tokens if you draw, or 50 if you win was a suggestion I made with a few friends.

Damn. Jagex really annoy me sometimes. I have 2 death tiaras but not talisman.

Don't really want it, just the 13k XP would be nice. Trouble is, save for the blood talisman all mine are in tiara form. Will the wizard accept them as tiaras or must I go and get all talismans again? Trying to buy talismans just in case but none seem to be for sale.

Brilliant. Awesome update. I've had 47k pure ess in bank for ages as I keep putting off crafting as it's slow and boring. Now it seems a lot more fun and the rewards are great. So I can either get some decent XP now, or hope it doesn't get nerfed, make a tidy sum on the pure ess, then get runecrafting XP later on.

I normally do quests day of release but tbh this doesn't look that exciting and I'm addicted to Arcanists currently. At least we know what "the beast" was from those strange noises now.

I am a Runescape member and want to carry on with this, however I am also addicted to Arcanists on FunOrb and will want membership eventually. Ideally I want another month of F2P FunOrb so I can learn more tricks and get used to the movement, aiming, AI and such. However Jagex are upping there prices. I have been a Runescape member for about 2 years so currently qualify for the cheaper rate, it isn't much but any savings good. Therefore I am reluctant to cancel my membership to add FunOrb if I get put on the higher band. Ideally I'd like to "bolt-on" FunOrb but it doesn't seem to work like that. However the post about the price increase seems to show the price is from the 4th August. As I have 4 days members credit remaining I will need to cancel today to stop the next months payment being taking. Will I therefore then be able to get Runescape/FunOrb at the old rate? I'd like to ring Jagex customer services to ask but sadly they don't have a number.

I'm going for 99 fm currently too. Maples are the way to go, if you're clever with your MTK you can get maples cheap/free. If not, they are cheap anyway. Trick is not to do too much as they are boring as anything. I worked it out at approx 140-150k per hour. So at 2 hours a night it's roughly 25 days from 90-99. I am struggling to beat the boredom for this but it isn't that bad. Listen to spoken word things and not music. If you are listening rather than hearing just background noise it goes by far quicker. I like comedy podcasts and CD's but audio books would suffice. May even be able to teach yourself Spanish!

Torso is pretty much junk for high level players. The strength bonus isn't all that compared to the lacking defense bonuses so people stick to Barrows or Bandos if they are rich and still want the strength bonus. As for roles: Collecter is easiest. Just make sure you collect, don't fire the cannon, destroy eggs if need be, just collect. The more you collect, the more points you get. Attacker is next easist. Use a scimmy and learn the rythm of horn changes. Turn auto retaliate off and stop fighting a few seconds before the change. Defender is a piece of cake once you know how to do it. Start from the pool and run to the east cannon dropping food as you go (you can drop and run). You only lose points for runners escaped so drop all you like. This line is your defense. Now overbait the trap, don't matter what you stick on it as long as you have variety. Now grab logs and hammer and run back to dispenser. Repeat above but this time you may need to repair trap. Get more bait and repeat defensive wall/trap. I can easily have no runners escaped on all waves. This also bags your team mates extra points and you'll be in hgih demand. Healer is the hardest as to be succesfull in the latter waves you really need more than level 1. Most times you have to heal others and leave the healers until the end.

I would say 1/400-500 I've done 3 tasks of 190+ with nothing and yet had 2 whips in a task of 150.

Great month. Only down point is the new Tutorial. It sounds as if we have to make a new character to view this with current players getting XP lamps without doing it. I don't want to make a new character thanks. I hope theres a once only "teleport to Tutorial" option so I can play through on my original character. Everything else though, spot on. Bank has been needing a refurb for ages, item lending will be awesome, finally be able to see if it's worth getting a BGS without buying it first. New quests are always good and we are long overdue another acheivment diary, however easy it is going be.

Not all skills are rankable at 30. I think attack, strength and woodcutting will only rank at the mid 60's due to the sheer volume of people training these skills. This obviously screws up dynamic signatures and use of combat calculators. I don't see why Jagex have a limit on the high scores, it should rank everyone regardless of level in a skill. The information is obviously there so why not use it?

Depends if Jagex changed the code. Originally you had to start DT to get access to the well, however now you can use the Chaos Tunnels so it depends on Jagex told the slayer masters that :)

Trouble is you can't switch from Virgin easily. They use cable and not ADSL. If you leave you need to buy a new router and pay BT over £100 to install a new line!

There is a chap on Catherby docks who will sell you 40 pineapples a day for 2gp each. That's almost 40 super composts per day.

Duradel. Terrorbirds are really not that bad if you wear earmuffs, if you are still getting hit too much then just range pray. The only task I have permentley skipped are Skelly Wyverns. All the others are bearable.

Not true with Virgin as they use cable not ADSL. ADSL speeds depend on distance from exchange but with cable it should be a fixed speed. Obviously where you are downloading from factors, as does what else your connection is being used for. Virgin do have a speed cap though, which they have recently been told off for not advising people of. Basically if you download lots at peak times your speed gets cut in half.

The file sharers will just adapt there methods or go to an ISP who won't ban them. Anyone with a degree of computer knowledge can use a jump site, a site not based in the UK and therefore not under the juristication of the BPI. The ISP's would not be able to track/ban the sheer number of IP addresses which could be used and therefore would be in a worse situation than they are now.

The trouble is/was that there is masses upon masses of new content to download. 1. The updates to the old low/high game. Even alone this is going to be a huge amount of files, Lumbridge, Al Kharid, Ardy and Castle Wars is a lot of graphics. 2. HD I think all members tried HD at least once. Thats a lot of downloading. So at peak time the lag was horrific as everyone was getting the new files and then checking them out. I personally wrote the day off and read a book. Last night was fine.

For some reason Duradel seems to think I like slaying these things. I don't want to skip/block them as they do give decent XP and usually only get given to me in small amounts but wondered if there is a trick to fighting them? They ignore prayer and attack with melee so am I right in thinking that good defensive armour is best against them? Guthans seems to fail a lot against them which isn't great but I can use a Bunyip. Also use super set. Bring a load of sharks usually as they hit hard and fast but it seems a waste. Any other ideas?

My computer can run it, just too many people downloading the new content. Same after every update but this time it was too bad. Ta
