I am a gamer who is constantly paralysed with indecision over which game to play so I end up playing none of them.

I've seen the game. I still don't understand why people who know I have minecraft keep telling me to get it. I suspect they might be crazy. Maybe I'm just missing something, or maybe it's just the way I play Minecraft. I think it depends on the way you play Minecraft. If you went into it thinking "rad lego simulator" you might not get as much out of Terraria as someone who thought "oh sick randomly generated terrain with massive cave systems and dungeons and shit". Terraria is definitely the better "game", which is probably why a lot of people recommend it.

I'm thinking about it. I feel it does a lot of hard work and doesn't get as much recognition as it should, but I've got to consider the fact that growing another middle toe could actually just further dilute its achievements rather than increasing its visibility (its brand if you will). I'm leaning towards a yes. It is a new year's resolution after all so I don't want to overdo it, be overly ambitious you know but hey it could always be in the cards. Maybe just like further up the leg, on the knee maybe. Get a little crazy it is 2013 after all.

They do, they just dismiss whatever isn't contrarian by labelling it 'mainstream'. Perhaps not as strong as hate, but they certainly look down on those who don't desperately absorb every cultural phenomenon that looks different. On a different note, people who simply claim that 'manga/anime' are things they like annoy me - not because manga/anime can't be good (Spirited Away kicks everything Pixar has ever done into the dirt, for example) but because liking everything that's Japanese and animated, without much discernment, is, like a hipster, merely striving to be different for the sake of difference. And was it not a Japanese priest who wrote that "a craving for novelity in all things is a sign of a person of superficial knowledge"? I think it was. Pretty sure that was Lincoln, buddy. Or maybe Morgan Freeman

Picked up Natural Selection 2, Hotline Miami, Terraria and Driver: San Francisco. Pretty pleased, a lot of stuff that was going on sale was stuff I already had.

Well if you look real closely, you'll see Obama has a very distinct eye shape and colour, normally only seen in reptiles and amphibians. This only furthers my theory that Barack Obama is indeed a lizard person.

Finished King Rat and about halfway through The City and the City, both by China Mieville. The latter is pretty odd to read at times, sometimes I'm not sure if he's trying to invoke a translated-conversation feeling or if he's just plain forgetting words. Both are great though.

Well blaming mental health is basically the same thing as blaming guns, video games, etc. Except in this case, yes, I'd argue that mental health was the primary (not sole) cause of this. But that doesn't mean everyone should go blaming mental health and pour all of our resources into improving mental health. These things are not preventable. We can lower the frequency of such events, yes, but we cannot prevent them altogether. Regardless of how low the frequency becomes, they'll still happen. And when they do, people will continue to blame things beyond their control, even if the things they're blaming can't be improved upon any more. Like I said, it's easier to blame someone or something else than it is to accept the fact that something terrible can happen anywhere at any time for no reason. I don't really understand why that bears repeating, I don't think anybody is saying otherwise. The thing is that a lot of the things that contribute to shootings are in fact controllable and can very much be improved at this point in time.
