Albel
Are you a gamer who has more games going on at one time then fingers and toes? Are you a gamer who plays a few games at a time? Or are you a game who grinds games to the ground until they are dust? I've been thinking about this question for sometime now. Went to a friends place for a few days and this discussion started up. My two buddies were gamers who by and large played a few games at a time (we will put a few games between 2-5 games at a time for the sake of argument.) I on the other hand tend to be the third option, I will literally grind a game to dust, then move on to another game. Examples of the I can give to name a few are.Runescape: Played off and on(more on) since 2007, biggest years being I believe between 2009-2011. Last time I remember I had over 170 days on my character.Playstation 2 game called Front Mission 4: Over a one and a half year span I put OVER 900 hours in the game.Another PS2 game called Start Ocean: Till the end of time: Over a summer, I put nearly 300 hours into in.Multiple Pokemon games: Most if not all Pokemon games I played I put excess of 80 hours in, and I played 5 different ones.Newest example I can give of this is Borderlands 2: I bought the game in late Novemeber, and have already amassed 191 hours. Now obviously I am not like this all the time. I do play other games at the moment, but non can compare to BL2 and time spent in it as of late. This also refelects who I am in life. When I concentrate on something, I always put maximum effort in it, and am willing to put an excess amount of time into it. So what kind of gamer are you? Any stories you can share of being any of them? Alg
I juggle games. Right now I'm going between RuneScape, Dark Souls, Torchlight 1-2, two Pokemon games, Neverwinter Nights, Pathfinder (as a player and, come sunday, a GM), and Fire Emblem 7, with a number of Bethesda games lined up for later. As a result, I usually don't end up with overly long play times, and I rarely finish games as quickly as some of you do. As a result, I get games to last for quite a long time. When it's written like this, it makes it sound like I don't do anything else, when really it's more like a short attention span... I painted some stuff and put it on tumblr
Kaida23
I tend to grind games to dust. I play them until I either finish or get bored of them and then move on to another and don't touch the first one again for ages. Check out my blog to read the Adventures of a Big Damn (F2P) Hero. nine naked men
I am a gamer who is constantly paralysed with indecision over which game to play so I end up playing none of them. sleep like dead men wake up like dead men
tripsis
I honestly haven't been gaming much the last year... but normally, I only play one game at a time and I pour hours and hours into it until I get bored. Unfortunately I think I've kind of reached the point where I'm bored with all the games I've gone through and I haven't found anything new that I like. - 99 fletching | 99 thieving | 99 construction | 99 herblore | 99 smithing | 99 woodcutting - - 99 runecrafting - 99 prayer - 125 combat - 95 farming - - Blog - DeviantART - Book Reviews & Blog

stevepole
I've always been a person who has tried to complete one game before moving on to the next, even at the peak of my gaming.
Z_Berenice
I'm more of a stationary gamer, hardly ever move on from a game I actually like, altho I do take breaks (runescape being the best example). I have a rule regarding mmorpgs ever since I got into them, and that's to always play 2 at the same time, which, has been runescape + some korean mmo for the last 11 years. Other than mmorpgs, been playing rpgs since I can remember (nes fire emblems, chrono trigger, mother/earthbound, etc) and rts (aoe, c&c, etc.), I was left in the previous millenia when it comes to fps, I actually still play unreal tournament 99 and often host games with some friends. Not really into consoles anymore, altho I do have modern ones just for the sake of keeping with certain series, mostly nintendo ones like smash bros, metroid, etc... So ya, why fix what isn't broken? Guess I have a thing for older games/series. As for playing korean mmos, it's just to don't get bored of runescape and/or have something to do besides runescape when taking breaks from it. Played silkroad till they increased cap over 80 (had a lvl 80 warrior/cleric), Requiem till the company went to hell itself and became too ridiculously expensive to keep up with mall'd players (had a 79 zerker when that was the cap, couple of other caster toons for lower tiers), archlord, aika, woti/boti series, etc... too many to mention, but the first two are the ones I played the most besides runescape. Currently moved to Continent of the Ninth Seal, so far so good with the whole stamina system that prevents grinding.

Demoli
Usually 3 focus titles with a handheld title for the bus. Right now I'm playing Dota2, Runescape and Hotline Miami with Fallblox by the side.
Ginger_Warrior
Usually focus on two at a time; one title that requires loads of concentration and is challenging and one that's much slower-paced and more recreational. That's been Halo 4 as of November and Minecraft X:360 as of May 2012 respectively. Completionism isn't that big of a deal to me; games are things to be played and are therefore about the emotional experience you gain from them. I play some arcade titles on the side, pinball, The Impossible Game, FIFA. I play as a right-back in real life so I only really know how to defend on FIFA, useless attacking, so I don't take it that seriously. It's a great game to play when you're pre-drinking for a night out though, FIFA drinking games are fantastic. :P I tend to do RuneScape in spurts of very rapid training, until I burn out and need a break, a situation not often helped by my work/uni schedule. I often feel too tired to put myself to task on RuneScape. | Favourite Game Music | Last.fm | HYT Friend Chat Rules |
Star.
I play the heck out of one game, with shorter amounts of playing of 1-2 other games at the same time. For example, I play Minecraft 80% of the time but for the 20% I'll split it up between L4D2 and Tetris. The thing is I also have limited console usage seen as though the consoles are in my brother's room so that could play a factor in it. ☢ CAUTION ☢ CAUTION ☢ CAUTION ☢ CAUTION ☢

Sbrideau
I usually play 2 games at a time, while still being a casual gamer. Usually it's going to be Rs and the current Call of Duty (until june or july where I go back to cod4). I still play some other games inbetween, but I don't have as much time to play games as I used to. And for the Rs example, I took a 2 year break so yeah I do take breaks from games from time to time too.
highlanders
I'm all or nothing, on or off. I play a game all the way until I arrive to a point at which I suddenly don't feel like playing anymore and I stop completely. That or I finish the game, whatever comes first. Then assuming the game has replay value or I'm not finished yet, some months later I will usually suddenly feel like playing again. And the cycle retarts. 2480+ total
Estonian dude
I tend to juggle. Well, I tend to get too much games that end up unplayed. Or I play like 1-2 hours and then stop. Like Borderlands 2, Metro 2033, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, Dead Island, and many more. But I really don't have times for games either, so mostly my gaming is limited to my iPad on travels. So I've noticed this thread's regulars all follow similar trends. Randox
I normally play a game to bits, and do the same for a few more games, and then at least some of the games from that 'rotation' will find their way into the next rotation. I generally define a rotation relative to RuneScape, using RuneScape as the start of each on, and my return to the game as the start of another. It's a handy interval during which few if any games get played more than once.
Ruinous Edge
mainly 3 games for me, kind of 4 depending on how you classify it.I am playing a lot of AoE3 and Hitman Blood Money at this moment, been playing runescape on and off after 99 fletch (currently 97) and still got a pokemon black run going on my ds that I started 2 years ago and not touched within 6 months roughly,(if that counts as a current game) So at most about 2-4 games. Normally I limit myself to 3 max, including runescape. Racheya
I tend to play 1 or 2 at a time. I used to play more, maybe Runescape another mmo and something. Atm its really only 1 or 2. Harry Delvin
I just so happen to almost never stop playing a game. Right now, I've been doing the following: Runescape (which I have never left for an extensive period of time)I've been playing Pokemon with some friends. And of course, I regularly play my Animal Crossing City Folk, checking each store every day and seeing if it is snowing, in another ill fated attempt to capture the coelecanth, my mortal enemy. The Marquis
I usually grind a game to the end and then move on to the next one. Prime example being when I completed ALL Assassin's Creed games up to III 100% in a row, just last autumn.Sometimes a game ends up recurring though, for example AC or Medieval II Total War or AoE3... or Portal (2), just because they are great games in my mind, or have sentimental value. And then there is Runescape, which I play almost always when I can. I didn't have a stable internet for two years so that made a compulsory break for it, but now I'm back :) and as far as I can see I won't stop :D Dark MarquisVisit my tiny blog. Shyla
I'm a grinder. I like buying/playing games I know will give me hundreds of hours (RPGs). A missed side quest or cool-looking armor or sword would sometimes make me want to start over. After I'm done, the games I wanted to buy (before starting the grind) tend to be cheaper so it's a win for me.
