  1. Yes task needed. Annoying, why did they suddenly start making stuff like this after I get 99 slayer. If I have to choose an insignificant low-level Slayer update, or an awesome high level one that actually irritates you, I'll pick the latter. B) Pity about the design of the staff, but perhaps the Saradomin sword and this Staff of Light has some hidden information? It's no coincidence that they have such similar looks. I refuse to believe that the designer is 'lazy', for he/she is still not lazy enough to name a yellow staff as the staff of light.
  2. The ones who couldn't turn their area sounds off? <_< What did they think they'd solve by adding this? Is this even a mage staff anymore? http://forum.tip.it/public/style_emoticons/dark_skin/rolleyes.gif Well, it's better than Dragon Spear but gives magic offense too. Maybe people can use magic to lower Corps defense now? lol... I don't know what they solved, but it has fancy bonuses in random places. And I can hit 20+ with it without the special now. The whole set rivals full rune with d scim with barrows gloves and climbing boots. Pretty good for free stuff. (Free in that it's a reward for playing a minigame I used to play just for fun.) [/hide]With the master trident they made it a hybrid melee and magic weapon. Speed of a whip with decent stats, especially stab, for a couple hours of playing what I find to be a very fun minigame. A trident without melee would just be silly, giving it magic bonuses just sweetens the deal although it would be nice if it had a +10% damage bonus. Maybe add +10% if you reach level 5 in each role or something? If that's the case then they need to rephrase the examine and just take off the magic requirements and bounuses. It has no use to magic and is a waste of time to use it for that purpose. Glad that you guys realised that this is how your mystic/battle/normal staves differ from each other as well. Melee stats ftw.
  3. Great update in every way! Although, I'm thinking that none of these four updates was the one that was delayed earlier. They might have pushed it further back, but pulled some of the smaller stuff meant for future weeks all into this week to compensate for the lack of update last week. And...while reading the sticky for the double runes on the RSOF, I saw this post on page 3. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- AgileSlayer 01-Feb-2010 14:20:40 I don't runecraft. This is four updates that don't mean crap to me. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I remember seeing this username before on Tipit, but I can't seem to remember who is it...... Troll + Tipit User doesn't seem right to me
  4. What they need is just a TV ad to boost their fame. Many people around me still think that RuneScape = the game with 2d graphics. That trailer on the homepage should do the trick.
  5. I bet a couple of people at jagex got bored and just did this in there free time. You're right it probably only took like an hour lol I honestly don't see how anyone at all has any reason to complain about this. Of course there is. At any one time, I don't think Jagex has only ONE update ready to be released into the game. Yet they would never release the moment an update is complete, instead time the updates to be out once per week, giving them some buffer time. We had a delay of update this week that has been postponed to the next, but next week's update wasn't brought forward to replace this as well. And I doubt they would release this week's and next week's update together next week. Which comes to the point that if colour alternatives to weapons is supposed to be one game update, players asking for the same thing for other popular weapons are giving Jagex the reason to slot more of these no-brainer updates into the schedule, pushing back the true updates. Luckily that BA update came with the Agility skill update, and there were decent tweaks for BA, such as the SC tool-like items for agility, mining and firemaking.
  6. If that's the case, I'm fine with the hypothesis. But I can find the two versions as printed images on objects as well. Printed logos: Zamorak Cloak -- M Zamorak Platebody -- W Objects: Zamorak Crozier -- M Unholy Symbol -- M Zamorak Staff -- W Zamorak Mjolnir -- W These are gotten from images I see using the Grand Exchange database. Some objects are unclear, so I didn't include them.
  7. Recently I've been confused by what the Zamorak symbol should be. I've always thought that it looks like a M, such as the unholy symbol, and the Zamorak staff (W) was an anomaly. But when I look through the pictures in the item database, it seems that there's 50% M and 50% W images of the symbol. Does it not matter what the orientation is? Funny, years of playing and I still don't know how the Zamorak symbol is supposed to be like.
  8. I agree. Colours matter only for those who like to be stylish and that's usually players who don't do combat. Original colour>new colours i say. Hope a better weapon than Whip will be released, that won't be slow and 2H. Well different colours of whip has been one of the most suggested and requested updates for years so why not put it in game and please a huge amount of people? As for new weapons hello? they added the Trident. Not a hugely awesome weapon but its ability to save mage runes is hopefully a step towards something we shall see more of, and its spec is pretty awesome. Correction. New weapons that actually serves a decent purpose, whether for high levels or low levels. The trident is just neither here nor there. You're being too picky. We have swords that can two hit even the strongest player, what do you want? Weapons that kill players before they even attack you? Take what Jagex gives you and be happy for once. No everyone is a meleer, a pvper, or a boss hunter. Over the past few years Jagex has focused mainly on pvp and melee and we seem to get a new melee weapon with almost every quest, and you whine when mages get one single update? You're missing my point. I'm saying that a weapon, say one that's at level 55, or 65, that fills the gap would have been wayyyyy better. For example, a melee weapon (or any other class for that matter), level 65 to use, with stats between whip and dragon scimitar, and the reap special attack. Done. or A staff with 13 magic attack bonus and requires 65 magic (same as lunar), rune saving ability and 10% damage bonus. Lower than Ahrims staff in accuracy and level requirement, but saves cost (a little). I never said anything about having a weapon that's better and stronger than all the ones we have now, so do try to read before you post. I simply cannot think of any situation that the trident would be useful, perhaps someone can try suggesting?
  9. You're trying to hard to defend the item. A special attack that has a 'chance' to 1-hit KO as a spec weapon? A bar of 4 DDS specs can easily outperform that, unless you don't have 60 attack and the quest to wield a DDS. And you're talking about a staff that requires 70 Magic to wield, I'm not sure if players with that level would consider the trident at all. If it's just a 1 hand-17 attack bonus-10% damage bonus-staff without the special attack and rune saving ability, it would have been a decent alternative to other staves and a weapon that fills a niche in the game (between Ancient and Ahrims staff). It takes quite a bit of effort to get the staff too.
  10. I agree. Colours matter only for those who like to be stylish and that's usually players who don't do combat. Original colour>new colours i say. Not a hugely awesome weapon but its ability to save mage runes is hopefully a step towards something we shall see more of, and its spec is pretty awesome. Correction. New weapons that actually serves a decent purpose, whether for high levels or low levels. The trident is just neither here nor there. The trident: +17 magic attack bonus? Great. +17 bonus but deny you of another magic boosting item, or a defence item at least, in the shield slot? Bad. No magic damage boost, not even 5%, if 10% seems overpowered, in addition to the above? Worse. A melee special attack for a magic staff that requires melee distance? Worst. Unless you consider training melee using a staff as a wonderful way to train. Mediocre rune saving ability, that's lousier than the FoG robes? Assuming that no one uses it for combat purposes, you'll be using it for skiller spells. I rather save water and/or earth runes constantly than use this. I thought the FoG experience with rune saving equipment would have been a good lesson. The FoG robes gets a shortened recharge time, but here comes a staff that would require fixing months after the update. Which reminds me that the BA improvements news can be summarised as whip colour variation + SC tool for a few more skills.
  11. Where did I suggest changing the complete colours of an item? Take the Bandos chest for example: What's to stop the player being able to change the colour of the cream/white bits to one of their preference? What's stopping players from actually demanding a colour variation in the major part of the armour on RSOF? Strictly speaking there's no harm done in a green dragon scimitar blade as well. And try applying that to Saradomin trimmed Rune armour.
  12. Mind translating that into English? "Boo hoo I can't train strength with an Abyssal whip" I suppose I should clarify that I meant "the game" = BA. ("It's funny how there's a colour option for a whip when a whip is silly for BARBARIAN ASSAULT because of the lack of aggressive mode" It's crap for BA because theres no strength attack (which is one of the types of attacks you use in BA as an attacker) yet it gets colouring. I don't care whips have no strength bonus, I don't use whips. I was not complaining that it got colouring while no other weapon did. Dragon weapons would look silly coloured. Sheesh. Maybe you shouldn't assume the worst in peoples posts... Edit: I see it was already clarified. Sorry for posting this. Mebbeh you could delete this? :P DD + Whip is pretty effective tbh. The high and fast hits in Accurate/Controlled/Defensive plus the DD special kills most of the pennence quickly. It takes what, a whole 5 second to switch weapon and attack style? Character customisation. There's now 5 styles for the whip and this could lead to further custom options in the future for weapons and armour. [sacarsm] Sure, I'd like to see more colour styles for Godswords as a reward from playing.......Trouble Brewing. [/sacarsm] There are better ways to improve character customisation than plugging in colour variation for a weapon that has no link to the minigame in anyway, besides the idea that abby whips are the most popular weapon in-game. Character customisation already failed in this case when players stick to one weapon for majority of the gameplay. I'm not really into pink dragon scimitars or lime green bandos armour you know. #-o Not that I disagree with your point (I actualy do...), but wouldn't it be nice to have black/grey/brown/white/yellow Bandos armors? If related to the reason they're colored, ofcourse. For each of those variation in colour, i would have preferred a variation in both stats and design, such as a version of Bandos armour that shifts some of its stab defence bonus to slash defence bonus. A better analogy would be like how SS, whips and Z spear are the variation of weapons you can use at the same level. If suddenly abby whips have 256 colour choices, I won't call that better customisation, I call that playing around with the design of abby whip in Paint and Photoshop. The variation needs to have some sort of purpose at least, as is with god trimmed armours, which puts you above the average player in terms of wealth and display your alignment to the RuneScape gods. Purple coloured addy armour with orange Guthix Symbol among a sea of colour combinations, for the same armour design in W2 Grand Exchange, would look like a malfunction with your graphics card.

  14. When I first saw the title, my impression was either A) A quest, B) A new mage equipment, or C) Both of the previous idea. Needless to say I'm surprised after reading through. Hope this thing works out well, though I was wondering if there's a need to create a separate camera-like item instead of building it into the main game menu.
  15. +1 thats what i was thinking. +2 here. ....and -1 for this  Tweaks are good when Jagex gets it right, it prevents old content from being obsolete for everyone. Why bother with new content if they're going be just shiny bits here and there? The only content that must be new is: Quest. There are times when they're off-form though, the BA one would be the first fall after: Agility Benefits for Fishing, Hunter and Thieving Nomad’s Requiem Kuradal's Dungeon The Temple at Senntisten Potions, Spells and Runes A fail after a 5-hit combo doesn't look that bad.
  16. You missed the point. It wasn't because the quest had a lacking plot that we were upset. It was because it was a Grandmaster Quest and was lacking plot. GM quests should be up to their nipples in plot. Perhaps. It seems to me this has a lot more plot than you are giving it credit for though. It was a bit on the short side, but it seems to be just the tip of the iceberg. Anyways, the alternative would be to make it Master, which would make it an extremely difficult Master quest, so they would have to lower the combat stuffs, which would just make it lame. Plus it's important for Nomad to be powerful in this quest cause they can't randomly make him powerful in a sequel when they decide to add a nice story to it. I'm sure Jagex was having this discussion before the release. It really comes down to people's opinions on what a GMQ should have. It is my opinion that the story potential combined with the difficulty of this quest make it Grandmaster, but I understand why you would think otherwise. Just to clarify, a quest with a decent plot shouldn't be able to be summed up in two lines. "Kill nomad" "Ok" You got no reason why you were doing it and I honestly think it was just a fan service. A majority of people wanted nomad to turn out to be an enemy, and so he did. Hm, let's sum WGS up in this same way too, paying no attention to any other part of the story either: "Hey noble adventurer, this dude you already killed in another quest is trying to take over the world. You might wanna stop him" "Ok" Mind telling my what part of the story you're referring to? I thought he's pretty clear on that. Lucien's up to something, kill him. A lot of background story were pumped into WGS, which is great if you bother to read everything in detail, but otherwise would have been pretty weird to have Lucien being the key character in the GM quest when the pre-requisite quests don't seem to have a strong link to it (except Temple of Ikov). Throughout the quest I had fun learning a great deal about Movario and Lucien, including looking up on them on older quests first to find out who the hell are they  , especially Movario. And to MHL, it's not like Jagex didn't inform you about the how short Nomad's Requiem would be. The quest length stated for Nomad's Requiem was already stated as 'Medium', which is comparable to how long the quest actually was excluding repeated tries to kill Nomad. I don't think Jagex has said anything about how GM quests must always being heavily plot driven. If Nomad was to be an important character in future quests, this way of introducing him would have been more vivid than the way Lucien was introduced in Temple of Ikov.
  17. There's no link. Great. -.- So when would we get to paint the blade of AGS a nice brilliant pink using eggs as well? Off to the suggestion forum!
  18. Never played BA before, since the monsters looks...........weird. Some of the original monsters that Jagex came up with for this game have some of the weirdest looks as well. Monsters from BA and PC looks like something that lives on Mars. And since I don't play the game, can someone explain to me what exactly is the link between abyssal whips and Penance eggs? Do those penance monsters come from the same plane as Abby Demons? If there's no link, II think that the favouritsm over this weapon has gone a little overboard. The penance equipment were obviously not very useful to me, seeing that i survived the game without ever needing it, nor knowing its exact stats. This update doesn't seem very amazing except for the horn that increase Agility EXP, which is similar to Stealing Creation tools: Cut down training time and spend on doing something fun (if you like the minigame). I just checked the stats of the Penance equipment, and once again Jagex has stuck to the silly tradition of making every single armour set that requires 40 def have exactly the same stats. Not even a variation by lowering bonuses in one and shifting it to another. The prayer set effect is almost obsolete since the penance set has no prayer bonus, meaning that I 'recover' more prayer wearing prosetyle and skills capes than wearing this, gaining 3 prayer points per minute, but nothing comparable to the rate at which I'm losing points. I wonder how many people are willing to trade the 10% damage bonus and +15 Magic attack of Ahrims staff/Ancient Staff for this trident that comes with +17 Magic attack, no damage bonus, negligible rune saving ability and a special attack of unknown success rate.... Just a change to one set of armour in the game, and you see an onslaught of ranters on RSOF. I should buy some popcorn on the day Jagex "rebalances the combat triangle". =D>
  19. I can provide a tip: DO NOT click on external links until someone can verify that it's a safe site.
  20. Summoning itself isn't the problem. Its the combat level of the player itself is messed up. If summoning reflected a higher combat level, leading you to believe that player has better combat effectiveness, then shouldn't equipment worn at the time along with combat items like food and pots also reflect on the players combat level? I was thinking a cb level player of 130 wearing nothing isn't gonna win against a level 100 player equipped with the best stuff their skill levels allow them to use. For me, a summoning pouch is like a pot or a food item in your inventory. So summoning's reflection on the combat level "for me" seems off... Along with relation to equipment and how your character is geared for combat. The combat levels reflected by the equipment that you CAN wear has already been reflected by your defence level for armour, and attack level for weapons. Of course, this means that you have to wear the best equipment set to reflect your true combat prowess, but not many does that in PVP unless you're in a group or very confident of your ability. Since summoning pouches requires the summoning level to use, much like armour and defence, it makes more sense to add more combat levels, unless you don't need the summoning level to use the pouch, only to create them (much like food from Cooking). And if they do this, summoning will be reduced from one of the best skills to one of the worst.
  21. You can never have enough fish. ;) I'm not sure how I'd feel if this is a fishing update, what exciting stuff can come out of it? An ivy vine version of fishing spot? Deep sea fishing? But we already have some pretty decent fish food around. With the best fish healing faster and better than the best cooking skill product, I think that we do have enough fish.
  22. This would be the main reason I don't see summoning as a valid combat skill. The biggest change summoning brought about to combat was the use of healers to replace food and guthan. Occasionally a BoB will take the place of a healer if the loot is overwhelming, but using a combat familiar is definitely out of the question. You can't use it in single combat levels, and that's like saying that you can't use prayers in single combat areas if 'prayer' was a separate avatar from your character, even though you rightfully gained the combat levels. Even if you're using it in multi-combat areas, you need to a very high level familar to hit accurately on the monster you're fighting, which means anything from 20-30 levels apart. With summoning being a relatively difficult skill to train, you'll rarely see a player with a summoning level that closely matches his combat stats and the monster level range that the player will commonly engage. Coupled with the fact that familiars enter the battle after a delay (enough for me to whip 3-4 times) unless you keep calling the famiiar with the whistle button, the loss of healing ability, the restricted combat style of the familiars, the consideration that some familiars are vastly inaccurate for their combat level since they are more skiller-based, you end up with very little combat familiar options for PvM. In PVP, summoning is fully negated by protect from summon prayer, eliminating combat tactics such as attacking the opponent with one combat style and have the familiar hitting another to get some damage through the three basic protection prayers. Those that boost stats doesn't stack the boost with potion, and the boost is nothing close to the effects of potions (with the exception of wolpertinger). I currently see the extra combat levels from summoning as a result of my improved survival abilities in combat (from the healers), not as an inprovement in my offensive abilities.
  23. I can do about 1.3k d bones an hour at my gilded alter, that's about 320k xp per hour, with each trip having at least 1 minute of afk time usually more. How much easier and faster do you want prayer to be? Other than that I agree with most of the other things you said though. I don't want it to be necessarily easy at all. I just want it to be different. Prayer is not even a skill based around combat, if you consider the way you train it. You train prayer the way you would train a non-combat skill. And if you would like to look into it, then prayer is the equivalence of Herblore, and how we got non-tradable potions. Prayer costs a lot, and the only way you can use the higher level prayers is by spending a lot of money to level up, which if you ask me is the same thing people were complaining about when the overload potions came out. If burring bones was made easier and more worthwhile, or we were given another way to gain prayer xp off of each kill we get, then prayer would be less biased to rich people, and PvP would no longer be based around how rich you are. However, as of now and how it has always been, prayer is just another skill to buy up, rather than train. This argument is mainly for Jagex, because it's rather hypocritical for them to take extremes and overloads out of the wilderness but not take out prayers. The argument is also because prayer shouldn't be a grind skill, and there are plenty of other options that could be made to train it. Oh when you said grind it I thought you meant it was too hard and annoying to train (Sorta like thieving) If a combat skill has to be trained in combat, that would make the training even more unoriginal. As of now, combat is pretty efficient, allowing you to train slayer, summoning, HP, and one of the 5 combat stats. There are many methods to train Prayer, just that you're looking at efficiency and disregarding those that are slower. If you want, Pest Control, Soul Wars, shade cremating, gilded altar, Ectofuntus and burying bones every now and then can be part of your prayer training. But you're looking at getting prayer up first and fast, of course you would be looking at only the fastest (and usually the most expensive) method. The rich way to train exists for every skill, there's nothing you can do about it. And I thought it's been mentioned over and over, Herblore doesn't add to your combat levels, but the later benefits is dependant on Herblore level, which makes all the difference from Prayer. Sure you're entitled to use the prayer you've unlocked with the level, but the prayer levels you gain also increases your combat level, a parameter of your combat prowess (though not very accurate). But hey, it's way better than having you looking for a target in PVP worlds of equal combat level, thinking that you might have a chance, only to realise that he's on extreme overload, and you lost because you didn't train a skill that isn't even directly combat related?
  24. ^ this. is the point im trying to make. Trying to state an opinion is alright. Trying to state an opinion as if it's a fact isn't. Trying to conclude something out of your 'fact' is just plain silly. 700 days of RuneScaping can be achieved without no-lifing if done throughtout a few years, like, 7 years? 100 days per year if that was done over 7 years would mean an average of 6.5 hours per day. Not really that bad.
  25. Yeah, and so was this one. I guess you're the one who wants to make this thread about me. I don't appreciate the personal attacks, especially when I work very hard to avoid making any myself. The topic here is not me. It is the simple fact that this is no more of an accomplishment than being a couch potato. If it really were some great achievement, you could explain what that is, instead of attacking me. I think it's pretty obvious that the mere fact that this player made it to the Guinness book is "the" achievement itself that some poster seem to view so highly. To me it is not an achievement worth praising because it's a passive one. Watching TV 9 hours a day for 5 years on the couch is the same "achievement", it's a passive one and not worth my praise. It's also funny how everyone that "tries" to argue with Qeltar never replies to his question about how it is any different from a couch potato... If you can watch TV for a large number of hours in your whole lifetime, and has a way of recording and validating your claims, then submit it to the Guiness Book of World Record, I'm sure that you'll be listed as the man who achieved the most time spent watching TV as well. It's just a record showing the the achievements of people mainly by using numbers as comparison, not based on whether it's healthy or glorious. There's a bunch of records that would have been considered unhealthy or silly based on people's personal opinion, but that's not a parameter for consideration to be listed in the world record. The word 'achieve' is just a word that is commonly used in the Guiness Record. Ok, so you made your point, you think that this person is leading an unhealthy lifestyle. I may or may not agree with you. He/She may or may not be, no one knows for sure. End of story.
