  1. Speculation is what keep most of the players going, like the release of construction years after rumours and leaks that it would be the new skill. It's something to hope for, and look forward to. And I like the idea of sailing, if it's what I visualise it to be. I'd have thought that firemaking sounds absurd if it wasn't around yet. Light logs? Light more logs? With seemingly no other incentive other than more total levels, more exp, and more ashes?
  2. It's meant to be sarcasm  It's stickied on the RSOF, for the high level forum, only players who maxed out every skill can see and post in the private forum.
  3. The fire staff was introduced 7 years ago, but the grand exchange was introduced barely a year ago. A bunch of fire runes in your bank + a gigantic dumping site for anything you don't need + more ways to gain fire runes than lose them = a crashing economy. I'm not saying that the fire staff was the cause of this problem, but the 4 elemental staves are at the end of the day, the reason why elemental runes are dirt cheap. With fire runes being the most common monster drop of the 4, no doubt players will have trouble selling them. Great for buyers though!
  4. [hide=] In the clan leader forum not all clan leaders were selected. I know the leader of a big clan (that i'm at war with) who wasn't selected. I'd imagine the same thing with the all 99 forum. [/hide] I'm not sure about the criteria to getting into the clan leader forum, since I've been active in any clan. But access shouldn't be based of the size of your clan, or ranking. I saw on the runescape official forum how certain players are already asking why they are not selected when they are leading a big clan, ranked 1 on certain external sites etc.... (it's not even a request, more like a rant for not getting selected :wall: ) It makes me think that it's a good thing that they aren't selected. Clan leaders speak on behalf of their clan members. If anyone with the rank of clan leader gets access, we'll just see the creation of more clans solely for the purpose of getting into the forum, yet not contributing to the community. I don't know why the clan leader you mentioned wasn't given the access rights. Perhaps Jagex is slowly adding more people into the list? Gotta be patient ;)
  5. I don't even have to assume. You just need to consider the vast amount of fire runes saved over the years by players high alching with their fire staves and nature runes, either to get the cash out of their yew and mage longbows, or for that level 94 magic level. Or you can come up with another situation that uses up as many fire runes as those saved from the example I give, to prove my point invalid.
  6. I think this problem is a result of unexpected situation when jagex introduced the..... FIRE STAFF!!!!!111!!11!!!, an equipment with such a low level requirement, but yet so useful. If they had done something like pay for 10% of your fire runes, and subsequently introduce higher percentage, the rune market wouldn't have crashed and the double elemental staves would have better better regarded.
  7. Wow, this is like a new incentive for players who have level 99 in all skills. This beats suggestions like an all-skill-99 cape by a ton. And I think they deserve it. Some people may argue that it's unfair that only that one small group of people get to access the forum, or that having all skills at level 99 doesn't make a player's suggestion more valuable than the rest, or that you think you can offer an equally important and productive suggestion. Well maybe you really can. \ However, we shouldn't feel discriminated against by Jagex just because of this. If your suggestion is great, technically possible, and will benefit the rest of the players, I'm sure that posting it on the official suggestion board will make heads turn and attract enough suggestion. Moreover, Jagex has already mentioned that they will considered expanding the limits so that more players can be part of the forum, most likely basing it off total levels. I only worry about one thing: we seem to be placing too much attention on high level content. Like someone said on a previous post, about 10,000 players have a little over 2000 total levels. However, this also means that there are at least 1,990,000 players with less than 2000 total levels (that's only considering those on the high score board), of which there are easily, a few million of players under level 70 combat level. If you seriously think about it, low levels don't really have any more variety of weapons, armours for combat skills and training methods for the non-combat ones. I hope the contributors of this forum will not only offer suggestions for high level players  , but instead introduce ideas that will provide more variety and increase the fluidity of the game
  8. Not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but hellhounds should never be on your block list if you're talking about fast slayer experience. I kill them in taverly dungeon (no need for telegrab), using proselyte top and bottom and the rest of the equipment that is standard for any meleer. If you use prayer flashing, a task of over 150 hellhounds won't even take more than 70 prayer points. So effectively you can stay there for the whole task, with a prayer pot or 2. I use the above method only because I've yet to train summoning to 68 and get a bunyip, if not bunyip + best melee equip would be my killing method for hellhounds. More importantly hellhounds are weak and have high HP = fast slayer exp. Charms shouldn't be a consideration of how good a task is, since any charms you get from slaying is a bonus, otherwise you should go for the more efficient charm collecting methods if you're training summoning. As you mentioned it hellhounds have very high charm dropping rate (though most are gold), which is a push factor to take up this task.
  9. I just hope that the rewards isn't just something to satisfy the rants forum, like that quest to prevent the castle wars catapult from hitting your own team mate. I mean, they can just fix it don't they, instead of wasting a quest on it.
  10. Also religion has started wars, fact. but war isn't always bad, that's your own belief. What you are trying to say based on that bold statement is that religious war can be just and righteous, I think that in the situation you provide (oppression and all), anyone who starts the war against such a tyrannical system is righteous. This has nothing to do with religion. That's his belief, and aren't you like, flaming him? And what is this paragraph based on? The way you wrote it makes you sound like it is what must happen, as true as the sky is blue, when religion does not exist in the country. You mean a life without believing in a greater being. I'm sure many free thinkers are living a life of bliss without every knowing someone said this.
  11. Sorry for the last minute sign-up
  12. A level 2535 twelve-headed dragon isn't going to impress anyone with its 255 HP. And that was a discussion about boss monsters with bigger levels (and hence you would think that it's harder to kill). No doubt they can make one, but they can't make it too offensive (notice that 85 max hit isn't going to work well on your HP....) Besides, suppose they can work past the 255HP limit, and come up with maybe a 400HP, dropping a dragon kite. How many people are going to say "OMG that's so uncool and WoW-like, I'lm NEVER gonna touch it!!" It's more likely that you see people forming bigger groups to fight it. And it's just another option, catering to people who like higher HP, higher level monsters with better drops. :-s I mean people are always aiming to deal higher damage with better weapons, you wish to keep boss monsters HP to keep at 255 forever?
  13. I would've thought that the boss monster HP would be representative its level. Just seems weird that it's limited by a mechanism in coding rather than it being their idea of not making high HP monsters. They can't make the monster deal too much damage if not it'll be like a suicide team VS boss fight. And making def higher is the same as making the HP higher: drag the fight longer. Well I know nuts about programming, but since bank items don't have a limitation of 255, can that be applied to make higher HP monsters?
  14. Don't you think that boss fights would be more exciting if bosses have more HP (think 1500HP bandos!! ) It's sad that most of them can be solo'ed, making boss monsters not even anything near bossy. So, I'm wondering if there's a reason behind this limitation in HP? :-s EDIT: Ok, so the limitation has something to do with integers and coding... So suppose the limit isn't there, do you want higher HP boss monsters?
  15. I think other than the drill demon change, and the idea allowing to do something while walking, like viewing the ingame skill guides, all the rest can hit the headlines any day :wall:
  16. That would hit the headlines on The Runescape Times aka Rants forum :wall:
  17. Proud of my name :D Zepheras, modification of Zephyr the Greek god of the western wind (or something along that line...) Most people call me either by its actual spelling, or Zep for short. I'm going to call myself Zepheras of the Wind
  18. As you know, Jagex is busy with giving us big updates every week (I love the clan chat :P), introducing new quests, major graphic improvements, and combating green robots. Have YOU ever seen something in the game and thought, 'Hmm...this could use some improvement.." Something that's minor, not even worth mentioning on the Runescape homepage, but nevertheless good to be improved? Personally, I was hoping that the zombie shirt from the gravedigger event can become long sleeved instead, so that your whole body is covered and you look really like a zombie  Post if you have any similar thoughts
  19. Obviously they will hit a limit, when they introduce weapons and armours with 90+ att/range/mage level requirement. That's when they can't do anymore add on, only introducing weapons for the levels in between. My definition of limit in the case of combat means, better weapons and armours than what we have now, of course other improvements can be made to things such as graphics. Think about this, the fixed maximum level for these combat skills is 99, they won't be able to come up with equipments with a 120 level requirement since there's no such thing. UNLESS.......they increase the max level for the skills. OR.......they push all the requirement for the current equipments downwards to make way for more equipment.
  20. I don't really have much faith in the level 60 dark bow, it's probably going to be weaker than crystal bow (unless they want the expensive-to-use cbow to be ignored later)
  21. Yep, that's what I did, read the books from all the quest and such (the bookshelf from PoH was great btw), and carefully read through the storyline for all quests that I did. That's when some of the ideas were inconsistent, sort of rushed through for the sake of producing that quest for that week. My point is, if you have monthly updates, why not do a better job fixing up the details here and there? 12 opportunities a year, and runescape is already how old, 7yrs? Rather than churning out updates that get rantings everywhere (not saying all were bad, some were REALLY good). I don't mind if they didn't perfect the history part on the first try, members can always discuss on the forum, and they can always alter their mistakes after careful planning. And they don't even make it such that you have to follow a strict and defined story plot, everyone can just continue their leveling in any areas they like. But it makes the gameplay more interesting like someone said, more than the mere sara/zammy supporter (because you love red and I love blue) that kind of thing. Runescape is fun, but why not make it more fun? P.S. Green is cool too. Bracelet of clay, bracelet of clay....why not bracelet of hydration? It can even be used to hydrate things like flour. It's just like the weapon Keris, its meant to deal more damage to kalphites, but would you prefer the name Keris or something like Extra-damage-on-kalphite blade?
  22. I'm hoping for so as well. I did a few of the major quests while I was p2p, some had great storyline, but others were rather random. There was this guy called Damis(?) in Desert Treasure quest, until now I still don't know why the heck did he live in a cave and look like a normal lvl 2 man with a sword. Seems like Jagex just randomly come up with 4 bosses for that quest. And there were so many other characters (Zaros etc...)that aren't well developed yet. There's lots of room for improvement!
  23. If it wasn't based on anything, and doesn't need a storyline, you won't be seeing zammy and sara rune set, and the so called 3rd age armour (If you know why they're called 3rd age, read up on the history of gielinor on the homepage. Hey, you do know that gielinor has a history of its own, don't you?). Dude. And I can understand why WoW is the most popular MMORPG around, in terms of membership count. If the game developers don't put effort in details like this, it's hard to attract new players. I'm not saying that Jagex isn't, but at the current state the various part of the game don't integrate nicely together. Maybe we can give them more time on this. And I still think bracelet of clay is a crappy name, period. :boohoo:
  24. Every update on the homepage, we see new areas, new items, new monsters and graphic updates to runescape. But after playing for a year or so, and being a member for a month not long ago, I find that the world of Gielinor still isn't very well developed in terms of storyline and game depth. For example, the recently introduced bracelets. Bracelet of clay, an item introduced into the game for convenience sake. The name itself isn't very creative. With every rant on the official runescape forum for more easy-way-out training, I see all kinds of items that don't have a history behind added every now and then. Games necklace, aka another form of traveling method. Charged amulet of glory, same purpose, and no explanation for why Legends guild would provide teleport to those 4 location. For convenience gameplay? Areas added to the map for the sake of questing, some were...alright. Fit nicely in place. Others, not really. How nice, a goblin hideout in front of the fishing guild, and near there there's a fenced up area for dwarves, and tada! Supposedly war between the two groups. Another thing is the humour within the game, especially during quests. Humour is good in the game, but sometimes it clashes with the theme. The update on the history of the Shield of Arrav was too serious for the game itself in my opinion. (Not to mention random parts of the story relating to dream mentor...huh?). So where are we heading? A light humoured game with no serious in-depth storyline or one with mythical lore and dark past of the Age of Gods? Perhaps not a strong argument, but who knows, maybe we'll have a new weapon that gives runecraft exp when you kill monsters with it in the month of June?
