Rate my friends band /10
Sounds like a normal american band which you'd find on the radio pretty easily. Good performance, but it lacks the feel of something special. If i hadn't read about it here first, i could have easily thought they got played quite alot on various stations. I suppose, since there seem to be easy for this type of music to get a contract, it shouldn't be very hard for them. But i just feel that it lacks the feeling and sounds like just another american rock band. I say, hm... around 3-4/10.

got back from Spain two days ago
Cool, mom was there a couple of weeks ago. I was in Germany for 5 days in January, so no trips this year. I'll get myself a margarita, pool and a pair of expensive shorts and i can pretend to be in San Tropez lol. Next year i'll go to Germany again anyways, 200th year anniversary of Oktoberfest! But hmm, i don't know. A couple of fishing trips (looking forward to that), otherwise i don't know. Got to try and find a job and work on my driving liscence anyway.

Getting a Laptop [UPDATE]
It's 1440x900, not enough? Or what do you mean? My resolution on my screen is that, and it does fine.

Getting a Laptop [UPDATE]
Ah rs, won't be a problem. You said in your first "gaming" so i assumed more than rs =P Just stay away from Intel on the gpu front (for now). That laptop will work very nicely.

Getting a Laptop [UPDATE]
Media: No problems. Games: Older ones (pre 2006), no problems. Any newer, well... On low details and small resolution (like 800x640) i suppose it could work. But that gpu isn't intended for gaming. You need atleast something like hd3650/4650 or 9600gt or greater for new games in ok resolution with some eye candy.

Windows 7 beta
Windows 7 official release date confirmed, 22nd october! http://windowsteamblog.com/blogs/window ... -7-is.aspx There's no official prices yet tho, only rumours. But shouldn't take long before we get that too. Home Premium is the one i'll buy, since my cpu (e4500) lacks support of virtualization, and i don't plan to buy a new cpu for a while. Hopefully i can save up some money during the summer so i'll get it early, been on XP for a few years now lol.

Building myself a new desktop and....
Oo, go with the HX that Joe posted! 57£ for the 450HX is damn cheap. Hm, if you live in an area with power outages and thunder i would invest in a ups. I have an APC 350 CS, it works fine, costed about 80.

CPU fan is out of control
Hm, the bios is reading wrong, if it was at 4k rpm it would sound much worse. My fan at 2.5k sounds worse than yours lol. I have no idea really, if you don't have any options in bios for the fan i have two suggestions. 1: Change the cooler (costs maybe 10 for a standard one). 2: Send it in for repair.

Building myself a new desktop and....
Aight! Was just wondering if you were gonna use some old components or new ones, since i think atleast the OCZ one you linked has 20+4 connector, but only 4pin cpu connector (might remember wrong), depending on mobo.. some has 4 or 8pin cpu connector and 20 or 24pin atx connector. Well good luck and have fun with it.

CPU fan is out of control
Damn. Does the fan have pwm control? If so you could set it to use pwm in bios (revving up hotter as it gets).
-
bought a notebook but...
Uh btw, do you have a driver cd (for mobo, usb etc)?
-
CPU fan is out of control
4k rpm seems unlikely, most are designed for 600 - 2500. Have you removed the fan cable and attached it again?
-
Building myself a new desktop and....
Well, i'd buy the Corsair. What's the specs on the computer (mobo in particular)?
-
bought a notebook but...
I know it works perfect, i've used it myself. The point i'm trying to make is that if it'd been me, i'd contacted the old owner or the company support.

bought a notebook but...
Lol, glad i'm not the one who told him to use dban. Not a very good idea, Hobgoblinepie.

bought a notebook but...
Did it come pre-installed on the notebook? Or do you have a recovery disk or something laying around?

Harddrive is saying good bye and moving to heaven.
Aye great, i'll keep that in mind. I managed to log in on the computer and copy docs, pics etc onto usb sticks (dad had already copied his docs a couple of weeks ago). Atm i'm runnign DBAN, hopefully i'm able to install Ubuntu on it. Otherwise i'll throw in XP on it. If it dies or not doesn't really matter, might buy a used hd (not a too old one obviously) and throw it in, since all other components are working great still.

Language
As a tip i'd say, when you understand the language better and if you see an Italian move - don't use any subs. Might be difficult, but i think you could gain from it. Also, keep practicing it all the time... Even if you spend 5 years on a language and then don't use it for a while... You will find you're struggeling a bit when talking. I speak english and swedish fluently. I understand norwegian and danish and know the basics in german. I plan on seriously study german next year (haven't read it since i was 16), as i'm planning to move there in 2011-12.
