Graphics Card Questions
Mail Valve and check with them about the problem, but i'm guessing the problem is with the gpu. To put it simply, no it won't work as your computer uses pci-e x1 (closed slot) and thus it wouldn't work. Buy a new computer. Buying a pci-e x1 or pci graphics card would just be a waste of money. Edit: Eh not Valve, was thinking of Half Life 2 when i saw that pic lol.

noobs on my wireless network
It is annoying that people are connecting to someone elses network instead of their own, yes. I have two thoughts on this, either they don't want to use their own (downloading illegal music via torrents for example) or the person is non-technical and doesn't know what he/she is connecting to. WPA/2 is more secure, yep. WEP should still be enough if you don't have some hacker living in your surroundings (difficult to know lol), but if you can switch to WPA - do it.

noobs on my wireless network
Don't think you should intrude on her computer in any way, however tempting it is. If you just want some fun, just rename your network to "I see your mac, get off". But why are you using WEP instead of WPA?

Firefox trouble
would my computer be able to save certain things like passwords that are saved to websites, or my bookmarks? by the way internet explorer really sucks. At this point I'm wishing I had AOL. 1: i don't think so, sorry. deleting the program deletes everything. 2: i feel ur pain. 1: Yes you can. Click on bookmarks - manage bookmarks - import and safetycopy- export as HTML. 2: IE8 isn't that horrible (but let's not discuss that now). Why don't you simply uninstall Firefox and reinstall it? To add bookmarks again, do as i said above but import the HTML file instead.

VLC solved. New question about "Data Execution Prevention".
Downloaded VLC0.99 - still lines. Then i randomly picked 0.92 - no lines. (had 0.98 when i wrote this topic) Weird. Anyways, woohoo. I have a new question tho. I formatted my harddrive a couple of months ago and installed XP (32bit) fresh. Using SP3 and all updates. I'm suspecting the problem i'm having is due to a key in the registry is wrong. Because i couldn't install IE7 nor IE8 to start with, i ended up calling the MS support and got help, and it turned out that a key was set wrong. Set the key to *something* and no problem at all installing new versions of IE. I could be wrong about the following being a problem in the registry, but that's what i'm thinking. Example: I can't Install Opera 9.64 update without it terminating, and today i was gonna install Java versions 6 update 13 and same problem. Most programs install without a program, but some just terminate (yes i have the correct version...). (following for Java version 6 update 13)Data Execution Prevention, is what i get when trying to install. Fault signature: EventType : BEX P1 : msiexec[Caution: Executable File] P2 : 4.5.6001.22159 P3 : 480573de P4 : msihnd.dll P5 : 3.1.4001.5512 P6 : 480380d2 P7 : 00036930 P8 : c0000005 P9 : 00000008 Following files are in this report: C:\DOCUME~1\JONASE~1\LOKALA~1\Temp\WERb729.dir00\msiexec[Caution: Executable File].mdmp C:\DOCUME~1\JONASE~1\LOKALA~1\Temp\WERb729.dir00\appcompat.txt (lokala=locale in english i think) Anyone knows? Otherwise i'll just call the support on monday, but any help is appreciated!

McAfee?
Nope. They are independant. Here you have some more results: http://www.virusbtn.com/news/2008/09_02 (september 08, but 2009 versions) http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2333448,00.asp http://www.pcauthority.com.au/ReviewCat ... urity.aspx I've tried Norton 2008 version on my moms computers last year (before switching to Panda as the lisence went out. 1.6ghz celeron, 1gb ram, vista basic, ati 200 series integrated, at the time) and i honestly had no problem with Norton, and that wasn't even the 09 version. I am not hugging Norton or McAfee, but they both are becomming better, especially Norton. (it's damn hard to find any recent tests that you can trust)

McAfee?
No need to uninstall it and get Avira instead. I just checked the on-demand scanning results and other results for McAfee and it scored overall very good (at http://www.av-comparatives.org), scored an "Advanced+ (3 stars)" (test in february 2009). Use it until it expires, would be stupid (in my opinion) to uninstall it. Ok sure, it may take a bit of resources (but you seem to have a good computer, so that wouldn't really matter) but you also get full support for the product.. etc (i don't think you get that with Avira/Avast/AVG - i'm guessing you'll have to use their forum to try and work out problems with the free versions). And the the Norton haters, i'm sorry to break your hearts but it (2009 version) has been trimmed to be much faster than previous versions as well as less false-alarms and higher detection rates (Advanced+, 3 stars, same test).
- PLEASE help

PLEASE help
Is hope Avira is up to date? Download Ad-aware and Spybot:search&destroy (you can keep both, but don't have them active 24/4 - just on-demand scanning), update and scan. You could also try Pandas online-scanner (Avira is great, but just for safety precausions). Install any updates to Windows available (i assume you got Windows).

Your bucketlist?
Vote for the Sweden Democrats this year and in 2010. Finish studies and starting on university about computers. Moving to Germany before i'm 25 (21 atm). Visit New York city and possibly Las Vegas too, Japan and Italy. Buy a 60's or 70's American muscle car at some point (Challenger, Mustang, Corvette... Doesn't matter). Be a passanger in a fighter-air plane, costs alot but i will never be a pilot - this is something i really want to do. Reach Ikky? and then Shodan in Aikido (i need to start training again first... Haven't trained Aikido since i was 16). Perhaps start in politics later on, because there are so many things that i don't agree with, that i think needs to change. And when i'm old (60+) i have a plan: I'm gonna sit in my rocking chair, smoke a pipe and complain about the society.

My computer needs help
Yep, sounds good. Costs about 40 (convert to NZ). Only other way is if you have have a prebuilt-machine or if you have a recipe about what components it is, and then say what it says on psu. If you can say one of the things, i'll try to find out what you got. Otherwise you'll have to open the case.

VLC solved. New question about "Data Execution Prevention".
Connections are fine. As i said, movie-x works perfectly in WMP and DivX player but i get those lines in VLC. AF/AA are already set they way you say. I'll try older versions of Catalyst and VLC later today, thanks.
