Not really a ripoff, it's only since about 1-2 years you don't need to pay much for good performance. What you could use is another stick of ram and possibly a new graphics card (but if you feel your current one is enough, don't). Download cpu-z. Go to memory and see what DDR it says (DDR or DDR2). Then go to SPD and click the "slot#1" and see if you got more options ("slot#2" would be empty if you don't have 512x2), also give the speed (pc2-5300 for example). Then go to mainboard and see what it says on graphics interface (agp or pci-express, as your card came with both). If you want a new graphics card we need to know your power supply. Open up your case, don't touch anything and be grounded for safety, and see what it says as total wattage on the 12v rail/s (if you don't got that, just total wattage) and the amps on the 12v rail/s. Also, if you don't like to install new hardware, you'll have to pay a pc-store about 40$ to do it for you.

You have a pci-e slot and a 250w psu. You can't put in a gaming card (i wouldn't even trust a 4670 even tho it draws under 75w), so a new psu is in order. Here is my advice on another thread: Rosewill 400w psu - 34$ MSI 4830 92$ (72 after rebate) Gigabyte 4670 80$ (50 after rebate) Gigabyte 9600gso 80$ - passive cooling (50 after rebate) There is also an EVGA 9600gso with a fan which is 10$ more after rebate. I got a 4670, i am still surprised on how good fps it can turn out for it's low sum of money. 9600gso and 4670 performs about the same. 4830 performs similar to 9800gt, if you got for that card, make sure you can fit it in your case (24cm long). So if you don't wanna blow your budget: ze psu+9600gso/4670(toss a coin)=83$. So you have money left over for a computer store to fix it for you. You can't go any cheaper really... Sure you could find a 9500GT for 10$ less, but it performs so much worse for just 10 bucks less. Now i'm gonna have lunch, adios.

4870 1gb. Easy as hell to overclock aswell. You need to know DX11 comes in the end of the year (probably), DX10 cards will be able to play in DX11 mode - but with some features turned off. Just so you know. Weird price on 260 and 275.

He could still be uploading, which would effect your speed (depends on how much of your total uploading capability it is tho). Just having it on shouldn't make much of a difference, but you could always ask him to exit it for a while and see if it makes a difference.

Run a virus scan if you think something is kaputt, but probably not. I'll give a few suggestions until someone else who knows more about networking comes along. Try different servers and see if it still occurs. If you're using a bit-torrent program on any of the computers, exit it and see if it still happens. Restart (not reset) your router, check again. I don't think your speed should be a problem (as long you're on adsl or better).

You need UXTheme Multi-Patcher for msstyles. I use it, and works without a problem. Follow the instructions and you'll be fine.

Wired or wireless?

You said you want to play BF2, how are you going to to do that with a geforce 6200? Even on a 8400gs you won't be able to play unless lowest settings and low resolution. Pick one of the cards i said and the rosewill psu. I mean, a 8400gs shouldn't be a problem with your current psu, but you still wouldn't be able to play any games except RS. I understand you have a budget. Say you get the 4670 and rosewill psu, that is about 85$ (after rebates) + 40 for a firm to put the stuff in. Save up some more money and buy an experience you will enjoy instead of buying a crap card that's no more good for than HTPC. The 4830 will last a long while, so if you're willing to spend some extra money for it aswell, you'll have a very decent gaming computer.

I don't know how much it needs, but it draws very little for the power it got. Do not run it with your psu. I really mean it, you could very well blow up the psu in which you have a fire hazard and possibility of damaging other components, as it's right on the edge of what your psu can handle. Your pc have a pci-e x16 slot (4830 won't be able to use the double width of 2.0 anyways). Also, please make sure you can fit this card into your case, it is about 24cm long.

Really nice deal. Guess it depends if you wanna save a bit of money or not. Check a review of the cards if you're unsure.

Do you have a link to that psu...? I mean, it won't have a problem running 8400gs, but more to see what you're getting for your money. And 70$ for a 8400gs? You could get a 4670 for that money. Asus 8400gs 256mb ddr2 - 31$ (21 after rebate) Asus 3450 256mb ddr2 - 30$ (20 after rebate) More than half the price than on Bestbuy! These two both perform about the same, so toss a coin. You don't want a fan with one of these cards, which is why i chose passive cooling. I'd order the psu i picked and one of the above cards and let a pc-store put them in for you. You'll save alot of money. Dracion's psu wont have a problem running this setup, but you get more juice on the rosewill psu.
