  1. I've done the same a couple of times, hehe. I've just pulled it out and attached it again, nothing broke for me. I guess, if it's a more expensive keyboard it's not a good idea (since this is not coverd by warranty to my knowledge). Otherwise, just buy a new one for 10$. Off to Premier League, bye!
  2. I personally find it easier adding the psu after the motherboard. Guide - http://www.nordichardware.com/Guides/?skrivelse=432 Hope you have a relative or a friend who can help you, it's not hard once you get a hold of it, but it would make it alot easier. Remember to be grounded!!! If you don't feel comfortable, you can buy a anti-static wrist wrap for a fiver.
  3. I'm Swedish, but with ancestors (100 years ago) from Germany and Denmark. I love The Sopranos. My two favorite hobbies are sport fishing and computers. I'm intrested in history. My persona is weird, it changes alot.
  4. Sign me in. 75 won't be a problem, but there will be alot of metal.
  5. What's wrong with it? It looks great to me. :) She looks a bit like someone on H. That was the impression i got when i first looked at the picture. Not being rude either.
  6. CoreTemp is the one to trust. Speedfan isn't that reliable. I guess your Q66 is at 35-40C, 28 is way too low. Especially if you have the intel stock fan. 49 is not an un-likely temp tho. Check in BIOS to get more accuracy.
  7. The Great War refers to WW1. The nearest thing to war in the Cold War was the Cuba missle crisis. Report this to the principal.
  8. Pic of the guy - http://www.bild.de/BILD/news/2009/03/11 ... enden.html English version - http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/europe/03 ... index.html " Tim Kretschmer, 17, began his rampage at a school where he used to be a student in Winnenden, a small town about 20 kilometers (12 miles) northeast of Stuttgart, said KIoeller, of the police in the nearby town of Waiblingen. "The suspect broke into the school. He went into the classroom and shot wildly around himself and left the building and fled on foot," Hans Ulrich Stuiber, another police spokesman, said. Three teachers and 10 students were killed at the Albertville-Realschule Winnenden school, Kloeller said. The shooting, which began around 9:45 a.m. (4:45 a.m. EDT), lasted about two minutes, police said. Kretschmer fired shots into three classrooms, Kloeller said. On his way out of the school, the gunman killed a person who was working in a hospital nearby, then hijacked a car, taking the driver hostage. He drove to the nearby town of Wendlingen, where he let the driver go, Kloeller said. The driver alerted the police. Video More about the gunman's deadly route » Kretschmer was spotted by police in Wendlingen at around 12:20 p.m. (7:20 a.m. EDT) and shot two of them, injuring them. He then killed two more people before being killed himself in a shootout with police, authorities said." Seven people were also injured. --- I know you guys dislike news topics, but i thought this is quite important. I'm surprised, yet not. I really don't know what to say... I guess i'm just chocked and it's hard to grasp this. I really can't understand why these young people do this... Just the last 10 years, there's been several of these event... I really don't know why this is getting so "popular"...
  9. So uhm, would you like some components listed for a buy? Or will your friend be helping you with that?
  10. Nehalem is made for DDR3. Also, the memories needs to be 1.65v or lower or the cpu might take damage.
  11. I don't know if Newegg are able to put together a pc (as i've never shopped from it), but otherwise you can order parts and ask a local computer shop to put it together for you (costs like 50$), or if you buy parts from a local shop and ask them to put it together. Assuming you don't know/want to build yourself. 1500$ should be enough for a i7 computer (if you want that), and maybe buy a 9800gt for now and then buy a fully compatible DX11 card (something in the area of a 4870 or so) when they come out (summer/autumn), DX10 cards are able to play in DX11 - but with some features turned off. Don't wanna push building yourself onto you, so either ask a store (as said) or buy a pre-made.

  13. I hope you aren't thinking of blowing 6k on a pc lol. Spend like 1500$ (i7 will fit into that budget) and save the rest for a car or apartment rent... I personally wouldn't blow it all on a computer.
  14. Google or Yahoo... Detachable cables. I said 9800gtx+ or 4850. If you don't want that, get a 9800gt or 4830. Btw, get a tube of arctic silver 5.
  15. You will need a cpu cooler (cpu is oem), http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6835207004 Pick a lightscribe optical drive with sata. Psu (it kinda won't boot without one...), http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6817341012 Either keep your current card or change to this, performs the same for less money. Also, get a tube of Arctic Silver 5. 2 sata cables (if you choose your hd+a oem optical drive).
  16. Since you seem sure of building yourself, do you want some links to Newegg for parts, circa 1000$? Edit: Was bored, so i made a little computer for you here: Antec 300 - 60$ AMD Phenom 2, 920(2.8ghz, quad) - 184$ Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4 - 115$ G-Skill 4gb PC2 8500 - 53$ Sunbeam CR-CCTF - 40$ Samsung dvd/cd read/write lightscribe (oem) - 25$ Corsair TX650w - 95$ WD Caviar 640GB (oem) - 75$ Sata2 cables (x2) - 14$ (for hd/optical drive) MSI GTX260 - 230$ or Powercolor HD4870 - 195$ =856$ (881$ with GTX260) With rebates: 806$ (826$ with GTX260). Note: I picked the Corsair 650 psu because after rebate it is only 70$. Overspeced, yes, but for 70$ after rebate it is a really nice deal. Note2: If you want a modular psu instead it will cost more, but less of a "rats nest" in the case. Monitor/keyboard/mouse/speakers - ask someone else. If you don't want the graphics cards i posted - go for a 9800GTX+ or HD4850.
  17. Noob, i was gonna say that!

I'm [bleep]ing pissed off. Been without tobacco for 8h now, and i'm really getting pissed off. Like this god damn media player, why the [bleep] is it crashing on me?! Stop doing it! God damn crap programs. Within an hour i need to go down to the store i think, before i kick thru the wall.
  20. Then why am i able to control the fan on my 4600 card? Anyways... That card shouldn't be at those temps at all. Sure, airflow can matter, but not to the extent it goes to 90 on a 3400 card! I'm gonna say this sentence until people get it.
  21. OldJoe replied to RayOxide's topic in Tech and Computers
No need to remove browsers and pictures. Programs that you don't use and runs in the background is the ones you could remove, iTunes helper for example. But you can't terminate things like "svchost" etc. If you need more space, then i guess you could remove pictures and other things.
  22. Ehm. Download the latest correct driver for you system(9.2), uninstall the current driver via the controlpanel, reboot, install latest driver, reboot and check again. If this doesn't work, you can download rivatuner and see if that works. If it doesn't, either Dell has some weird restriction, or more likely, you aren't able to control the fan.
  23. My cpu got up to like 95 before. :wall: If it didn't shut down, it should have started to throttle or if you have defined a temprature setting in the BIOS which would enable it to still keep running. The temp i posted may be a bit off, atleast i remember that info from a couple of years ago. (searched around a bit just now and saw the number 105C (atleast for C2)) Intel explanation: "The power monitor continuously tracks the die temperature. If the temperature reaches the maximum allowed value, a throttle mechanism is initiated. A multi-level tracking algorithm is implemented. Throttling starts with the more efficient dynamic voltage scaling policy and if not sufficient, the power monitor algorithm continues lowering the frequency. If an extreme cooling malfunction occurs, an Out of Spec notification will be initiated, requesting controlled shutdown. Lastly, the CPU can initiate a thermal shutdown and turn off the system." http://www.intel.com/technology/itj/200 ... _point.htm
  24. Apparently it's absolutely dreadful. I've been meaning to read it, just to get some kind of insight, but there's better words for me to be filling my head with. It is pretty hard to get into reading it, but i find it very intresting reading his ideas. I'm not saying i'm an antisemite, but as a person who is intrested in history it holds a great value in trying to understand him a bit better.
  25. Laura: In the overdrive section, click the padlock and unlock. Mark the "enable manual fan control", try something like 30% (since i guess it's a really low setting atm) and check if it still runs hot. Apply until you hit your desired cooling vs noise setting. Killer: That card is a budget card, i wouldn't advice on water cooling until you buy a card for 200$ or more.
