Everything must be SLI?
Yes, the i7 gets a performance boost out of 3 channel memories, so it would be something like 3x2048mb memories specified for that cpu. You also need to know that you should NOT buy any memories for i7 over 1.65v, since it can take damage then. Just looked at Corsairs page for a setup as you mentioned, and they recommend a 1000w psu. So yes, that psu would support it. I haven't heard of that psu brand, so i can't say if they got good reputation or not. And yes, if you dont want to upgrade later on, this will last for a good long time.

How did you find Tipit??
Guess back in 02 or 03, think i was stuck in some quest... Checked some different sites and then decided on TipIt. Didn't sign up on the forum until a few years later.

Computer upgrade ~AMD or Intel~
I can't say anything about the motherboards, please give me a link to the ones you consider. If you are thinking about going sli/cf later on you need a motherboard with two 2.0 16x lanes. Otherwise you don't need to spend half your budget on your motherboard, then i'd suggest you spend more on the cpu. Here's what i'd do: Say you go with the amd or intel (doesn't really matter which one, they both perform great), buy a motherboard that doesn't support sli/cf (=cheaper), the 4gb ram and something like a HD 4850. But that's me. It would be really nice if you could give a link to the store you plan on buying from, or atleast give me what you are paying for the parts you've mentioned. You should also know, when the time comes for you to buy a new graphics cards you'll need a new psu aswell. Hiper isn't the most reliable brand for higher-end builds.

Computer upgrade ~AMD or Intel~
The tripple core is quite good. Good performance for the price, even tho most programs still works best for 1-2 cores... the 8 series is a very good upgrade for the price. 7900 is and old card. Unless you can get one for maybe 20quid i wouldn't consider it. It scales very bad in sli compared to the new cards. I really recommend you to buy a new card instead of going sli with this card, when you are thinking about that.

Windows 7
Gah, now i got a bit disappointed about MS and Win7. Microsoft won't support Hybrid SLI&CrossFire from scratch, they force Amd/Nvidia to make it work. Not that i use hybrid, but i don't see why... It works well in XP/Vista. http://www.custompc.co.uk/news/605145/h ... osoft.html

Everything must be SLI?
Does he work as a lawyer or maybe someone he knows...? The new i7 isn't much of an improvement in -gaming- than Core 2, but in apps&etc it's quite faster. And with his budget it might be something to think about, but i wouldn't recommend it really... It differs about 1-10fps in games with it. Where i live, the cheapest setup for i7 will cost around 670-700+ euros... That's why i don't recommend it (cause of the price), dunno what it'll cost in America tho.

Everything must be SLI?
.....i might upgrade to 3 of these 8 GB of RAM... ima switch to this mobo with this CPU.... and btw my budget's $3000.... To OldJoe: im preventing that -.- Seriously, 1600w is overkill unless you put in a hell of alot hds... You can run two gtx 280s in sli+a quad with the Corsair PSU i listed+some more stuff. You should also know that three gpu's in games doesn't scale very well. If you are set on Nvidia (personally i'd choose the 4870x2...) then get two of GTX 260 - 230$ after rebate or or the newer version - 270$ after rebate I doubt it, but if you like to overclock then i'd advice you getting some faster memories aswell. And if you think Corsair make cheap psu's, you are dead wrong. Go and check a review of them or some forum, and you'll see how great they are. 1600w is overkill. Go for 1000w if you want to... But as for an example, the 750 i listed will be great!

Computer upgrade ~AMD or Intel~
It would have been really nice with some links. Not all the P45's got 2 pci-e 2.0 x16... Out of those two i'd chosen the Intel one... But i could give you two systems amd/intel if you want. And i wouldn't go with sli for the 7900gt... Get a new card. Edit: I forgot that you should check your PSU before doing any upgrades.

Everything must be SLI?
@Framfrit007: I'd buy a 9850BE or 9950BE (and perhaps a bit overclock on it too) for that setup so it doesn't bottleneck. Otherwise a high clock duo, such as E84/5/600 and clock it so it doesn't bottleneck, or buy a quad core. And pick something else for the motherboard, MSI are pretty known for not putting in the highest quality components. And i just noticed you PSU aswell. 1600W?!!!! What are you planning on running that you aren't telling us??? This is something i strongly would recommend. It depends on what CPU you choose, but you'll have a bit of room for upgrading too. @Snipersas: A setup for the i7 (based on the cheapest setup) comes to 670eu (cpu+mobo+ram)... If he has the money, sure nice thing. But it's not really worth the price at the moment. Sure, great for running heavy programs and converting stuff... But not for gaming. It's not worth the price for an additional 1-10fps. (i base the price from http://www.sweclockers.com).

lock please
You will need a new motherboard when upgrading anyways... Because both Amd/Intel will launch new cpu's during the next year. Socket 775 will stopped being produced next autumn (since Intel will have launched their new mainstream cpu's then)... And AMD will introduce the new AM3 socket. And to be honest, you won't need 8gb. You need it for heavy programs (cad.. etc) or if you have a [cabbage]load of different programs running at the same time. But it's up to you. 4gb will go a long way. And DDR2 will slowly make way for DDR3.

Here's one program that might help you: http://www.insidepro.com/eng/saminside.shtml Read EVERYTHING before you start. I'll edit in another program if i manage to find it, i had the link to the program bookmarked before but forgot to save my bookmarks before i formatted my hd a while back. EDIT: Yes! I found the program i was originally looking for: http://home.eunet.no/pnordahl/ntpasswd/ If your harddrive/files are encrypted with EFS - data loss. Again, read EVERYTHING before you start. I haven't used any of these programs, but it's the only advice i can think of. If you recently reinstalled it, without needing to retrive any important documents/programs etc... Then you could just do a simple reinstalling of the OS.

Will Russia ever be accepted a'la Germany
I don't think many see Russia as a country to go on holiday, most people just prefer a country such as Italy or France. A city i would like to visit, because it has some very interesting sites, is Moscow. And of course, with such a vast country... There are many amazing sites in nature. The Kola Peninsula as an example, great for fishing (altho it's been damaged by pollution). You also have the Ural Mountains... Siberia... And many other sites.

I think they haven't released any public betas yet, those come early next year. So, you'll have to go somewhere else lol. I think that is back-space button, might be wrong tho.

How the [Potatoes] do you burn a DVD?
Potatoes wont do you much good in burning a dvd lol. You could download Dvd Flick for the job, you need a dvd-r disc and dvd burner. It has a manual which you can read for instructions.

Linux?
Sadly, Flash Player is still closed source (pretty sure). So you can't really blame Linux that software that they can't fix themselves won't work. It is Adobe's fault for not making it open source so it could be used with more OS's(without crashing) And Linux has issues with a lot of ATI graphics cards, but works great with NVidia ATI have been working on drivers for Linux more in the last year or so, tho Nvidia drivers for Linux are still way better.

Windows 7
Well, it turns out that he got ripped and ended up with a crappy version that didn't have the new taskbar :| It looks, runs, and feels like vista. He's going to try to find another one now :P Tell you "friend" to enable the new features. Edit: [hide=Few pics]New taskbar with thumbnails You can use small icons too New calc, very useful for programmers (it actually is in programmer mode) [/hide] Lol, what have they done to the calculator? It looks fat! Seems to have some nice features nevertheless.
