Free Usb drive file recoverer?? (Can be locked)
You can try Avira UnErase Personal. I've never used it, but I haven't had any problems with any of Avira's other products.

Can't use keyboard
I've been using Flashblock along with ABP and NoScript for awhile, and I haven't had a problem. By dumping flashblock, you're dumping a layer of security...It's like saying you don't need a sock because you have a pair of sneakers, and it would just be redundant...It may not seem useful, but that sock does a lot that you don't even consider. Don't dump anything. Find the problem, and fix it. I don't just stop developing a program when the compiler tells me I have an error. I go through, find the error, and fix it, and continue on. Sometimes its a quick find, sometimes it takes me a few hours, but eventually I find it, and everything is good again.

Your Browser?
Why not just use IE Tab? I tried out FF 3.1b1, but I didn't like it. Half my add-ons (including Stylish and Smart Bookmarks Bar) didn't work, and although I noticed some speed increase in speed, I didn't see the losses as worth it. I'll stick with 3.0.3 for now.

"Baby Killer" given life sentence
I'm pretty much the same way...I was thinking about the sound that it would make when I read the article. As for your other point, if you kill about 10,000 lifers within a short period of time, execution style, people will think twice about doing stupid [cabbage] like that, especially if we show we're willing to get rid of the rest. Likewise, if you were to get your willy cut off for rape, or your hands cut off for stealing, I bet a lot fewer of those crimes would happen.

Today...
Just got back from a bowling tournament. We lost 2 out of 3 games, but I bowled over average for 2 games. Ended up about 10 pins under average for series, but there was a squad before us, and we didn't get fresh oil, which sucks. Now I'm going to play WoW, because I don't feel like practicing VB or C++ anymore.

Hammerfall is pretty good, thanks. Disturbed is about as into screams as I'll go, and compared to some of the suggestions here, they're like listening to Basshunter. I just can't stand the grungy, growling, screaming music..Hell, I only recently started listening to Disturbed (I couldn't really even listen to them before, but now I'll listen to most of their songs) Guess I'll go wonder around in Pandora and find some things. Great way to find new music btw. Necrobean, you didn't really say what you liked (I only went back to page 20 though), but you mentioned Reggae on like page 21 (I only went back to page 20 though), so I'll just say It's Spanish, but still good to listen to.

Worst thing you got caught doing at school!
Sounds like my 4th of July, except I put in some lighter fluid and an M150 (best I could get). I love homemade explosives

What would you name your first child?
I would name a boy Thor. Norse God of Thunder = Badass. If he became a carpenter, that would be epic irony. (For those who don't get it, Thor's weapon was the Mjöllnir, a hammer). That, or maybe Richard, if he had to have a normal name. For a girl...Idk. Brandi maybe? Actually, I'd let the mother decide, then I can't get yelled at....Yeah, that's my answer.

"Baby Killer" given life sentence
Enter my previous comment about 35 cent bullets. Serving it's purpose? What purpose is that? To waste the taxpayers money to house a killer, giving him 3 meals a day, water, television, recreation time (lift weights, play basketball, etc)? Why spend..what was it, $60,000 a year (or was it 30?), when we could get rid of some 15-20k prisioners, for the cost of one? He killed her, you can't dispute that. So, why are we going to spend 1.3 million keeping him safe and well cared for?

Having issues accessing... [solved/lock]
Time to go ask the IT guys what's up. If a proxy worked (I would just skip mentioning that part, as it's probably against school rules to use one, even if it was for innocent purposes), but your regular connection didn't, you've probably been blocked from certain sites. Go ask them what's wrong, explain what you're trying to look at, and they will be able to either explain why you've been blocked, or come and fix the problem. Don't try to proxy through things. In general, it's against the internet use policies for schools. I only suggested it as a diagnostic test, not a fix. Plus, you don't know if those proxies were legitimately set up, or the result of a viral infection, which may make connecting illegal (though the chances of the Feds coming after you for looking at a webcomic are rather slim, it's still possible).

Having issues accessing... [solved/lock]
I just kindof threw it out there. I didn't think there was anything there, but it's better to cover all your bases than leave open a weak spot because you thought it was secure. http://proxy.org/ Copy address of site, paste it in there. Paste it to the proxy service it redirects you too, and then try. You don't have to set anything up, just go and see if you can get on the sites. Don't enter any information, or do much else, just check and see if you can access sites that were otherwise blocked. It's some sort of networking error. Fixes seem to range from unplugging the router to changing DNS clients, or disabling media sharing and upnp. Probably fixing your computer's error will get rid of this one. That shouldn't really have any effect on this issue. A few more things I thought of, that may or may not be useful: Switching Browsers. See if you get the same problem in IE as you do in FF. You may well have the same problem, but it's worth the 20 seconds needed to find out. Your HJT looks clean as well, so idk what it could be. Maybe the sites are having intermittent failure due to a somewhat weak DDoS attack or something? Unless it's a rather large site, it's possible (brings up TIF issue, and 4chan issue, both of which had rather large fanbases). Hell, my friend said the website for the WoW private server he plays on went down for a bit, so few websites are safe (save the big boys like Google).

Going off of this, I chose . It seemed like it matched up (kindof). I don't listen to much music like that though, at least not yet. As for music I listen to, I don't have a last.fm yet (been meaning to get one), but I can list the bans I've been listening to recently: ~Gwar ~Sonata Arctica ( ) ~ (Level 70 Elite Tauren Chieftain, may be L80ETC now) from WoW. ~Some Disturbed. ~ (epic artist). Link doesn't do it justice, I have another version, which sounds a lot better. I've also been listening to I Stand Alone by Godsmack, and I like it for the lyrics and everything, but I don't like much of their other music. Before I Forget by Slipknot is another song/band just like it too. Also, anyone have more like Coheed and Cambria (ie Welcome Home, from RB)?

South park- Season 11 discussion thread
I thought it was [developmentally delayed]ed, and didn't laugh at all during it. The hamster thing was just stupid, and flute bands? Come on, that's just [developmentally delayed]ed. Pick something more people know/care about next time. The next episode better be epic, or I may skip watching this season, and stick with re-runs. The only good episode so far was the breast cancer episode. Wendy beating the [cabbage] out of Cartman was epic. There were a lot of funny quotes there too, especially when Cartman is harassing Wendy about her speech. "There's killer [bleep] on the loose!"

Having issues accessing... [solved/lock]
Check your hosts file to make sure you aren't being maliciously redirected to sites? A HJT log wouldn't hurt, but I don't know if we'll see anything. The first thing you need to do is re-enable that firewall. Crippling your computer's security isn't going to help you out at all. Also, did you do anything different on Thursday? Install new programs, visit a site you hadn't been to? You may want to go ahead and clear your cache and history too, maybe something is in there, idk. One other thing you could do - connect to a proxy server, and try to get on the website from there. If you can get on from a few of them, we know there's a problem on your computer. (Waits for DVD to come ramble about TCP/IP stacks being attacked)

"Baby Killer" given life sentence
With the average IQ of MySpace users, probably (yes, I dissed myspace, get over it). This story actually had a plot to it, and it was decently developed, but it lacked filler between the crazy claims, which made it seem like a MS story. Plus, it moved from one extreme to another too fast (for example: how did a 4-5 year old figure out how to properly fellate a dog?). At least at the end it didn't say "send this story to 10 friends in 5 minutes or a crazy emo clown will come bite your winky off, and another will stab you at 3am on Wednesday.

"Baby Killer" given life sentence
I agree. Murderers, once found guilty, should be killed the way they killed the person. That, or if it would be to costly or time consuming, we go another way - execution style. Grab a redneck or a gangster from NY, give them 2 bullets (about 35 cents each), and let 'em take the shot. They won't miss twice. That's just my opinion though. I remember that thread (points down to signature). llcoolguy972 - that Alyssa story was majorly [bleep]ed up. Was that even true? Because it seemed really, really exaggerated. So much so, that I read the whole thing without any emotion, which usually doesn't happen when I read stories like that. Even the OP story evoked a small bit of sadness for the child. But, at least the death was quick. It was probably painful for a short while, but it would have been better than beating it to death for awhile, or something similar.

Squeaky fan...
I was told to use the "grain of rice" method, which is just putting a drop the size of a grain of rice down (maybe a little bit bigger, but not much). Apparently if you use too much, you allow air pockets to form, which reduces the ability of the heatsink to cool the CPU, and excess dripping off causes short circuits. To supplement the cheapness thing, I found two heatsinks that looked good, and cost around $30. This one, and this one. This should do for now, if you do build a new computer, go with one of the more expensive ($60+), as they can cool down the cpu better, which is why they cost more.
-
Squeaky fan...
Eh, a new heatsink and some fresh thermal compound can't hurt. Along with being cheap, everything is reusable. The heatsink can be taken off and put on the new cpu, and taking off and then re-installing the fans takes all of 5 minutes (maybe a bit more, if you have to drill holes in the case for new fan mounts).

Your Browser?
No, because they are two separate things. JavaScript is run through the browser, and compiled by the browser. JavaScript is included with the HTML for the page, so any HTML page with JavaScript in it will run JS the same online or offline (unless it required online content, then it would, obviously, run differently). Java, however, is pre-compiled, and all the files needed for the applet (namely the .class files) are stored in the browser's cache. Being able to read JS quickly doesn't mean Java applets will run quickly as well, because Java doesn't need the browser to do much with the applet, but JS does.. I'm probably making it sound more complicated than it is though.

Nooo...no fix. Not yet. I don't want you to go through and delete something that could be crucial later on. Just wait for Clare or sloter to stop by, they will know what to do. You should, however, jump-tackle the person(s) you share the computer with. One of them has downloaded a bunch of stuff on your computer, including poker, and that's probably the cause of your problems. If you have any logs (Firewall, AV, etc), go through those and see if anything has been added recently, like in the last week or two.

Network Drive Question
Actually, that probably has everything to do with it.

Squeaky fan...
I second the motion... Special tool to remove the screws? The only tool that I would think you may need, aside from a Philips or flathead screwdriver would be a Torx wrench. In any case, replacing fans in a computer is easy, except for the PSU fan. You have a high risk of serious electric shock, or possibly death, by opening up and touching the capacitors. Even when you unplug the PSU, and "discharge it" by holding down the power button while it's unplugged, there can still be a massive amount of voltage left stored in it. Discharging it yourself is rarely a good choice, unless you have quite a bit of experience working with electrical components, and some decent equipment (which would cost you a lot more than a new PSU). I say go ahead and buy new fans for everything, especially if your computer is old. All new fans should only cost you maybe $50 USD, and that's if you have more than the default 1 fan, which you should, and with ones that include a few lights to look cool (rather useless if you have a closed case, but it would give you a reason to do a case mod). Plus, you may be able to install an extra fan or two, to increase cooling.

Yes, you need to change those lines. The first one, about the home page, is a malware site that has drive-by downloads of rogue antivirus programs. You need to get rid of the hosts file entries to. Go to start > run > regedit. See if you can open it, if not, we have some work to do, because that's a pretty serious issue. Also, the last line, imgfarm.com, has stealth installs of SmileyCentral and other bits of malware. Have you been playing online poker recently? Because many of those sites can't be trusted. Because of the multiple poker-related entries in that HJT, you seems to have gotten infected by visiting one of those bad sites. It seems a bit like a Vundo variant to me, but I'm not sure. You should use that DieNortonDie thing from Clare, to get rid of those other pieces that Norton left over, since you're using Avira now. I would suggest you download Comodo as well, to hopefully stop any remote connections. If you do download it, make sure you read every popup carefully. It's important you don't just click "allow" on everything, as that defeats the purpose of a firewall. As far as the missing programs thing - read this.

Your Browser?
Java is for applications, like Open Office. It is compiled with a java compiler, and can run on any OS that has Java ported to it. JavaScript is run through a browser, and is compiled "on-the-fly." A JavaScript applet (like an intro, banner ad, XSS attack, etc.) is run through the browser, not the OS, and isn't used for desktop applications. So, it can't run stand-alone, it needs the browser, but Java programs don't. Although, syntactically, the two are very similar, and knowing Java will make learning JS very easy, as there isn't really anything new to learn, just a few syntax differences (or at least, I haven't had much of a problem with the two, but I don't know a lot of either). That's just what I know aout it, I could be wrong. I did a quick google search and found this article. It looks like a good read, gonna go read it in a few minutes when I'm done here. I couldn't find this anywhere...Even tried sorting by value and didn't see it. May just be because I was opening up 3.0.3 not 3.1b1, as explained below. As for the topic... Right now I'm using FireFox 3.0.3. I tried using 3.1b1, but for some reason it opens up 3.0.3, so I'll have to try and figure that out...I was thinking about trying Chrome, but I'll wait for it to be a bit more stable, and maybe get some extensions, before I go playing around in there.
