Even worse. I went to 4chan once and posted "People on 4chan eat glass when they are bored." I have seen it posted there 5 times since then  There isn't much you could say on 4chan that wouldn't be turned into a meme by someone (or, rather, nearly everyone, as only a few people don't use "Anonymous" as their name)...The only thing you could probably say is "People on 4chan work normal 9-5 jobs during the day, and never have sexual or perverted thoughts when they are bored"...Actually, that's probably how someone would get banned.

I second the motion. All in favor - say "Aye" or make a new thread to continue your grammar discussion.

What do you have to say to THIS?

Actually that's similar to what I had, except I had the images hard-coded in, not in the listbox (was going to do that this weekend). Although the project is really nice (seriously, good job, thanks), it doesn't complete the major goal I had in mind. That was to read a folder and automatically get the images, which is what I had trouble with. Although, with this new listbox thing, I may be able to mod it to that, if you could work on it as well (since you said you wouldn't mind putting more effort into it), that would be great. If you've ever used the windows screensaver one, it's the same thing. Idk if I can get it to read subfolders too, since the folder I was thinking of scrolling through has 1,411 files in 63 folders (I should probably go through and clean that out lol), not to mention the other folders I would like to go through (I take pride in my large image collection). Thanks for the base project though, I'm really happy with it, and it gives me a great starting point for upgrades.

Gum takes about a week to two weeks tops to pass through. I'm sure if you ate enough gum and searched through your poo the next week, you would find that gum rather intact. Whoever said it takes 6 years to pass through is a [bleep]ing moron. Now, maybe it would take awhile to dissolve in your stomach acids, but that's not what food does. No food just sits in your digestive system, it moves through by the contractions of your stomach and intestines. Everyone here needs to go back to high school (or go up a few grades) and take Anatomy and Physiology.

Well, I don't know about your friends, but I've used both Intel and AMD, and Intel is my favorite by far. Intel, in my experience, is faster and more reliable, and they are cheaper too (based on cost vs performance). I have AMD in my laptop, and Intel in my desktop, and I hate using my laptop. It seems that things take up too much processor time, but on a nearly equal Intel chip, the same app uses less cycles to do the same thing (or maybe it's just me using a laptop). I've preferred Intel for a long time. My dad prefers AMD, but then again he never sides with me on anything unless I wear him down (it took me about a year to get him to try FireFox and now he doesn't want to go back to IE, which he previously wouldn't stray away from). Also I think there was some test that showed that Intel chips will shut down if they overheat, but AMD will smoke and burn up, but that was about 2 years ago, don't know if it still holds up today. ..Found Video! . Kindof interesting, but I wouldn't base your opinion on the two based on a test conducted over 2 years ago.

What do you need to proxy around? If you need to use a proxy, you have come to the wrong place, because you're trying to get around blocks that have been put in place by a higher authority, which Tip.It does not condone. If you think a website shouldn't be blocked, talk to the network admin(s) and if you have a good enough reason, they will unblock the website. That's what I did, saved a lot of time and trouble. Proxies are often means for revocation of computer privileges (like in school), or a good way to get arrested (many proxies are really zombie computers that have become part of a botnet, which makes them illegal to access). Try talking to whoever put the filter in place (for me, it was the deans, who in turn contacted the county office, who I later had to contact), and see if you can't get it worked out.

I still don't have a working version of my own yet, but I'm getting closer. I think I'm aiming too high trying to get it to load from a folder right now. Maybe I'll just go to an array of pre-defined images saved in the release folder...At least until Joe comes through (or anyone else).

Go Here. Seriously, don't go to freewebs or whatever else. Learn to make your own from scratch. That's how real men do it. It's not that hard to learn. Your computers at school have notepad and internet explorer, that's all you need. W3Schools should not be blocked at any school (I'd contest it to the highest level if it was). Then, go find a good web host, and buy some space on their servers, after registering your domain name (which your host should take care of, if it's good).

I can tell you one thing you shouldn't do - Don't get bored and do what OTers do when they get bored, which is apparently eat glass :twss:. /end bandwagon. I would say eat softer foods, but not ice cream. I remember reading somewhere that ice cream is bad for something like this, as it slows the healing process. Get something like applesauce. No dairy, soft, tastes pretty good, and it's kind of like having a drink and food in one..Oh, and speaking of drinks, I would stay away from milk in case the whole dairy thing is true (I'm too tired to look it up now). I would suggest juice, or maybe a slushie? Don't know if the slushie would be bad (due to ice or whatever), but it seems safe. My dad said something about jaw muscles hurting after the process. That would mean, to me, that you would need to do some chewing on something in order to work out, and fix that muscle. Just a thought. I'll go do some more research on it tomorrow, but I'm pretty sure about that no dairy thing. I'll be able to back up these claims later, so don't quote me on them just yet.

If you share your story about the girl, I'll share mine about a cheerleader I hate. It's quite funny. I hated Night...I thought it fitting to do the same to it as I did to Fahrenheit 451 - burn it. Such a stupid book. At least the Diary of Anne Frank was a decent book. People are taking sides on if I'm a communist or a nazi, or just a serial killer who hasn't been caught yet...Maybe I should stop drawing the swastika in paint or on random things...My teacher yelled at me today for having an image that said "War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, Ignorance is Strength", in my screensaver image rotator, saying I couldn't have it. I asked why and he wouldn't answer me. Freedom of expression violation much?

I still do... As for the flag argument, I don't say the pledge or salute the flag, and I haven't since 9th grade. Look carefully at the pledge of allegiance, dissect it word by word, and you will get a real picture of what you're pledging to. It took me awhile, but now I'll focus on the lyrics to a song (or turn my music up louder if I'm listening to my MP3 player). Today I was listening to Sick of You by Gwar when the pledge started, I found it funny. But your only half-valid point is the abortion issue, the others don't matter. As long as he isn't doing a Hitler salute at, or pissing on/burning the flag, then he isn't doing anything wrong. He's just going on his freedom of expression, and the right to remain silent.

WoW isn't free though. chinesrat asked for a free MMORPG, which is hard to come by. And at $15 per month, WoW is rather far from free compared to RS. The only way would be to play on a private server, which goes down frequently, is highly illegal, and has a crazy amount of hackers (or the one I used did, then again it was like the only one with more than 100 people on at a time, we had about 5k on each server if it was online). There is a game I've been hearing about called Mabinogi, my friend says its really fun. I remember him saying something specific about the download, I'll try to find the notes on it. Something about if you get it from their downloads section, its in Korean, but there's an english version too. I'll try to find it, but I'll drop the links for you. Game Site --Wiki Article

This, or I'd have to research some people. Three I know for sure are Stephen Colbert, Lewis Black, and Katt Williams. Oh, if we're going funny, I'm going George Carlin, Jeff Dunham, Lewis Black, Toby Turner, and Rodney Carrington. I would probably have to get permission for a sixth person, and invite myself back from the dead, lack of oxygen from laughing would kill me quickly.

I've been planning something like this since Freshman year. Either hitting the water for fountains and sinks, or the pool, or both, if I get enough supporters and money. :shame: And I'll agree, a lot of these do sound fake, but then again some of mine do sound fake (at least to me, reading them over now). Then again, none of you know me irl, so you can't know that what I said is true...I've had stories carry over from fifth grade into high school (I went to 5th at one school, 6-8 at another, and 9-current at yet another, and up til 8th, I went to small private schools), that I haven't even told people, because my reputation follows me like a crazed stalker....Half of my vo-tech class thinks I am an insane pro-nazi baby killer...Now I may be partially insane, but I haven't killed any babies, and I'm not quite pro-nazi (more pro-Stalin if anything). I suppose a lot of these are more "you had to have been there"-type stories, or stories that are like many of mine - you have to know the person telling the story.

I would invite Plato, Socrates, da Vinci, Julius Caesar, and Bill Gates. I would invite all of them because they all cater to my interests quite well, and all but Gates come from interesting time periods. The first two for philosophy, and to ask questions about ancient Greece that history books can't answer (I love ancient history, except the Egyptians, they never captured my interest). I would pick da Vinci for many reasons. First, many of his inventions were simply amazing, and a lot of the inventions he came up with, we still use today (helicopter, anybody?). Plus, I love reading about his time period, and I think he would be good to talk to about Renaissance Humanism. His abilities as an artist were amazing, maybe he could teach me how to draw better too? If for nothing else, I would invite Caesar for his charisma and ability to speak to the people. He's one of the rulers that I didn't mind studying in school. He did a lot for Rome as well. I think there would be some very interesting conversations there. As for Bill Gates, I hope to do programming as a career, so why not talk to the most successful programmer (so far) out there? Founding a company that started with a friend in a garage, to being worth over $58 billion (according to Wikipedia, I don't know what the real number is...I don't think anyone really does), he must have done something right. He started around my age as well. Given there was really no competition to overcome back then, or not like there is now, but it would still be incredibly enlightening.

Speak for yourself. Same here lol. Dog biscuits were good, but needed milk or water immediately after, as they are so dry. I was eating Combos yesterday and it smelled like the dog treats we give our dogs occasionally (it was bacon, egg, and cheese combos that smelled like the bacon treats, Beggin strips or something like that). Nobody goes on 4chan and says /b/ as B...If we wanted to emulate 4chan, it would be /OT/, which we don't use (except in reference, and trolls use it, but they don't count). And what's wrong with 4chan? I know /b/ is horrible, but what about one of my favorite boards there, /wg/?

Umm..no. [1] [2] [3] [4] That was enlightening. Sorry, but I haven't really used Linux, though I'm installing it on my desktop tomorrow. Guess I still have a lot to learn on that side of the computer universe. Arixe, I saw "around zero" but people saying Macs don't have viruses annoy the hell out of me, just the same as people who say "there is a Mac, and a PC" when a PC can be anything. No reason to go all yelling and screaming at someone for their opinion. This is a discussion about our opinion on Mac vs PC, no? You have only been registered on this forum for what, 3 weeks now? And I'm already sick of your attitude. This is a public forum where people are free to share their opinions. Flaming is against the rules, which I suggest you take a break and read. If you want to yell and scream, put your face in a pillow with some music turned on and feel free to yell for as long as you want, but keep keep your comments out of here. If you want to argue with someone, do it without insulting them, or go somewhere else. Moving on, I'm going to have to agree with stevepole. I don't believe it's OS-specific. Most people think that a PC is Windows-only because of the vast market share that Microsoft has. Most computers come pre-installed with Windows. I've yet to go into a store and find the Linux test computers, but I could bike over to Circuit City and check if they've added that section. Yes, Macs, Windows machines, and Linux computers are very different from one another, but as far as a Personal Computer goes, shouldn't the OS on it be a user choice, by definition? I may be wrong, but I thought that a PC was any computer that isn't a server (meaning Desktops, Laptops, and Tablets, reguardless of the OS on those machines).
-
Macs do get viruses, you twit. No OS is, or ever will be, safe from viruses. Unless, of course, you wrote the OS yourself, on a computer with all new, blanked out parts (HD and RAM, etc), never showed the source code to anyone, developed your own applications, and never connected it to the internet, and never let anyone else on it...But how many of us can raise our hands when asked if we've done that? Anybody? Nobody at all? That's what I thought... Probably not many, although it wouldn't exactly be hard to write viruses for it, what with the whole open source thing. There are some out there though. People try to crack into mainframes every day, at least one of those people is using a virus of some sort to help them along. And to the tro..Mlbfan13....A lot of people use Linux. For desktops, there are very few people who use it as their only operating system. However, Linux is used a lot by large companies for their servers. And that's just so far. There are multiple programs like One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) that are using Linux on cheap computers and sending them to developing countries, which would increase the number of people using Linux by an incredible amount, if the plans succeed.

I would say clear out your temp folder, as it doesn't do much really, and that's where all your problems are. Plus, I can't find a mention of those dlls anywhere. Download Crap Cleaner and run it, see if it can delete the problems. Then again, I could be wrong and your computer doesn't work as a result of you cleaning out the crap that has likely amassed as a result of normal computer usage and poorly written code on Microsoft's part. But I doubt it.

Aborted fetus is not the same as dead 1 month old child. And we aren't giving this case special attention. There is no reason to post links to all the articles about baby killings. People's feelings will remain pretty much static from one snapped spinal cord to another. This would probably be my second choice after shooting him, if it was real of course. I should go watch that movie again, or get the book. I need a new book to read.

I would love that. If you could comment it out so I know what does what, that would be great. I've been using VB for over a year now, doing business applications and now DirectX games, so I know what some things do, but I've never tried anything of this scope before. Although I would love to just have an outline, if you would like to post a whole project, that would be fine. I can play with it after that. If you do make one, would you mind if I installed it on a few friend's computers? I know a few people who want it as well, which is why I finally got around to asking for help. What I really want thorough help with is reading from a folder and picking the files randomly, because I wanted to use that for some different applications. If you could help me with that part, that would be great. Just from a quick look, it appears that you can only have one file? That's what I didn't like about the other programs, it was mainly for one file. I wanted it to do multiple files over a set interval, probably by running in the background and doing sleep for a user-defined set of time. This would probably be saved in a file so that the time interval wouldn't have to be entered every time. I would also do this if there was an option for centered, stretch, etc, store that preference in a file and read from it. I can do IO, but would I just do an if statement? If the file = "centered" then chkCentered.Checked = True, inside the form load event? I wanted registry help to get the program to load at login. I know it's possible to do, because I've used WebShots, and it does exactly this. I just don't like the bloat and everything that comes with Webshots. Plus, by writing my own program, I get to customize the look and workings however I want.

I'll have to agree with all of that actually. Ubuntu may not be the best distribution for you. Your needs may be different than those that Ubuntu was created to cater to. The reason I suggested Ubuntu is not only because of its popularity, but because of it's ease of use, and also because it seems to be a rather general-purpose distribution compared to others.
-
Well, it's a rather small install (the .iso for Ubuntu was like 700MB or around there). It's easy to get rid of almost every version if you don't like it. But in any case, I would go with Ubuntu. It's got a large userbase (compared to other distros), which means support is pretty good. I've heard it's one of the closest distros to Windows in terms of familiarity and ease of use, but it's still Linux, and proud of it. I've used a few different ones, and I'm gonna go with Ubuntu after I format my other computer. I may install it on here too, not sure on that yet though.

Whats a good video to watch or the code I can use?
urbestfreind replied to USMC_24788's topic in Tech and Computers
Alright, Errdoth, I actually figured that out about 5 minutes ago, before I read this. Glad you stopped by. My experience with JS is limited. I've actually never written it, and that's the first time I've studied it. The only reason I got some of it was because I can read Java code (and my experience in that is rather limited as well). Sorry for my misinterpretation, and that I couldn't get here sooner with the fix. USMC - get a paid host. You will be allowed so much more freedom. More pages, more bandwidth, better service, and the ability to have more custom code. It's worth the small price you'll have to pay. If you want to have links to guides, for easier navagation within the same page, you would have to make an anchor at that part of the page. So, if you wanted to have a paragraph on Cookies, you would do this: Paragraph on cookies. Then, to link to that paragraph, you would go where you want the link to be, and do something like this: Click Here To Read About Cookies! If you have any questions, I could throw together a quick example document for you.
