  1. Wow...I laughed...hard...It's just stupid enough to be very funny to me. I also laughed at the porn comments. Reminded me of an old topic, one that brought about many laughs, and disturbing google searches (although I can't say I miss it, there were good times in there...Many of them actually :twss:).
  2. I mention torrenting, and the name is a "Hackintosh." At what point did you see "this is perfectly legal", may I ask? He just wanted to know how. I told him. It's possible, but as I stated, I don't recommend it (and if I didn't state it before, I have now), for possible complications with the install, and legal issues.
  3. ... ...... =P~ =P~ 16 ram slots...and its $450...Gentlemen, I believe I need new pants.
  4. I'm going to kick you in the head repeatedly. Do you know how much of a [bleep] it is to work on a computer that has a black cloud in the middle of the screen? Or to have to set up your desktop and things all over again because some douchebag decided to mess with the computer? You're lucky I don't have access to you, rope, 4 horses, and a whip. I keep hearing that this happens, but I've yet to be witness to it..All that happens when I get kicked in the balls, or see someone get kicked, is they cough, and fall down, and declare revenge is in the future. Insert swearing in multiple places in that series of events.
  5. I have to agree. Malaria is only labeled as to what killed them, but there's tons of other variables that enabled the malaria to kill them much quicker, and then when you take malaria out, how bad is the torture of starvation & other diseases, that weren't known because malaria killed them too fast, going to be? And how big of an issue will each of those diseases become? And then will malaria come back as an issue? All for saving people don't get me wrong but, there's more to it then just curing malaria. Agreed. I think I remember reading this on UNWire recently (subscribe to it if you haven't already and care about global issues). I've donated a couple dollars a few times when the MUN team at our school did some fundraising on it. Actually there aren't many things our MUN team hasn't done that I haven't thrown at least a dollar or two at (not literally, of course...I wouldn't throw dollars).

 That post was amazing. Been awhile since I've read a post on here that really made me sit and think for awhile. I don't really know what to say, except thanks for deciding to post. Now I know why people used to talk about how great your posts were. Most of the other posts in this topic are really good as well. I've got quite a bit to think about and share now. I'll make sure to backup this thread, in case you ever lose it and need to find it again. Then again, I love reading about philosophy. It's always been fascinating to me. Sumpta13 - that last post you made is a pretty good wording of my opinion on the subject.
  7. Not just a burning building, but if he did it right, it's supposed to be the Twin Towers. I don't know of any other tricks really, except if you hold a 20 up against a blacklight, there's a strip that is nearly see-through and it says $20 or something like that. and LaserDude333, that video was awesome. Just wish they had included pictures of the last few (the new world order and whatnot).
  8. Hackintosh Guide Here. It seems like a lot of trouble to put it on a windows pc, but it's been made easier by Apple's recent switch to Intel processors (or so I've read, so don't quote me on it). You will probably have to buy a copy of Leopard, because torrenting one like they say in the guide can lead to all sorts of trouble (unless your ideal weekend is reformatting and re-installing 2 Operating Systems, then you're probably golden). They do say you're better off buying Leopard though, so I'll let it slide. Be careful though, messing with the BIOS is like cutting wires on a bomb - one wrong tweak, and your computer is done for.
  9. Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I'll have to try this new version, and see if it's better than the last time I tried it (which didn't end well). Probably going to wait like pyro, since I know it will take at least a few days for the download queues to ease up...Especially with Java offering Open Office for all of their downloads, and all the PC magazines recommending OO, there's a lot of people that will be wanting this new version. I'm in no rush, I'll stick with Google Docs and Zoho Writer (the latter I use for school, since it's the only online word processor that isn't blocked) for now.
  10. I thought the OS could only use 8 GB of RAM?...128 GB of ram... Alright..I meant I want to see it with what I though was the max, which is 8 GB.
  11. Can you point me in the direction of the program that doesn't harass you when the subscription is running out? I got McAfee free and it sometimes pops up a warning that my subscription is running out. I don't know if Comodo does, because I have no reason to pay for it, but I didn't find anything that says Comodo is aggressive or anything when the subscription runs out. @ OldJoe - He was talking about the pay version (Comodo's Firewall Pro). Which is, IMO, a waste of 40 bucks. Hmm...I've read that Avast is a bit worse than Avira at picking up viruses, but they are quite close to equal. Would Avira work too, or would you suggest I go with Avast?
  12. Ahh, I see. It's not too fun to read on TIFBlack either. I was using the Tip.It Theme though, so it didn't look too bad. I suppose if I want to type in colors, I'll switch to prosilver first, since quite a few people seem to still use that theme (I just can't stand the white and other bright colors). In any case, the information was quite useful. I suppose this will just be a reminder for everyone who types in colors to remember that some colors don't show up well on certain themes. Then again, all you need is GreaseMonkey and Stylish for FireFox, and you can make the font color whatever you want.
  13. I'll second Ubuntu. From what I've read, it's really user friendly, and Windows users will be able to adapt to it rather quickly. It's the one I'm putting on my computers, and I may use Ubuntu Server if I ever get around to fixing my desktop. I believe you can use GRUB on Windows or Linux. Actually, here is a guide on it.
  14. I got my cooling pad awhile ago, and the only thing I regret is that it was bought at Staples (not because it's bad, but because Staples overprices their stuff). It keeps my laptop a lot cooler than without the fan...I can tell when I forget to plug it in because my fan starts to rev up, even when I'm not doing something CPU-intensive. My laptop stays around 35C with it, and when I put the laptop under a decent load (Frets on Fire or WoW, etc) it stays cool longer than if I don't use the pad. I don't know about getting a USB powered fan if you aren't going to keep the laptop plugged in. I know my fan only works if the laptop is plugged in to the outlet. I guess it's to conserve battery life, because if I unplug my laptop, the fan shuts off immediately after...If I hibernate my computer, I have to unplug the fan or it will run all night..It's annoying, but worth it. Try to get one that plugs into a port, keeps the port open (usb male on the front, female on the back, so it's like your port is just extended from the laptop), has at least 2 fans, and matches the size of your laptop. My laptop is 17", but the fan was only made for 15" (or whatever it is, something like 15.6") laptops. Also, variable speed is a nice feature. Keep it on low speed when you're doing something small, like writing an essay or something like that, and put it on high speed when you do something cpu-intensive, like playing RuneScape. I would say go ahead and re-install the OS. It may help with your Driver issue as well as clearing up any junk that's built up on your computer (mostly in the Registry).
  15. Fixed the typos (I do hope you meant 1/12th not 1/2th, because one-twoth sounds weird).. You have a good point though. I used to be...well, afraid I suppose is the word, of using vista, because people said it was a pain, and that it's a memory hog and all that. However, since I started using it, I've grown to like Vista. Its not really that slow IMO, especially if you use ReadyBoost (flash drives are only like 10 bucks for a 512MB or 1 gigabyte one). Some tasks, like finding files, seems to be faster in Vista than XP, and opening Programs is faster because of the search bar in the Start Menu. If the 32-bit version is fast to me with only about half the RAM it could have, I would love to try a maxed-out 64-bit version. I'm probably going to get Vista x64 for my next computer when I get the money to build it.
  16. You wouldn't happen to be torrenting while playing RuneScape, now would ye? That may be a problem.. The only thing I can think of is to take a picture of your processes when you lag...I've been doing it while playing WoW, and it's helped me with my lag issues...Although my fan still revvs up a bit, but that's another topic. Just had another idea thinking about the Task Manager...Have you tried increasing the priority for RuneScape while playing? This also helps me with WoW, and I think I did it when I used to play RS, so it may help you. Set it to high (13), the one below Realtime (I don't know what that setting might do, but you could try it. I take no responsibility for the outcome should you use the Realtime priority level).
  17. If it's any consolation, I quite enjoyed reading the green text, in place of the normal white. Although, you could have picked a less puke-looking color. If you want to post in colors, go ahead. There's always highlighting the text.
  18. Reminds me of WinAntiVirus 2008 when I got it. Probably a similar progam. If it is, I got it about 6 months ago. Still have it (or the remnants of it) on my desktop-turned-footrest.
  19. I had a lot of problems with OpenOffice. It was really slow, and crashed on me once (which is around the time I was frustrated enough to delete it anyways). I will agree on the re-install though.
  20. I know AOL sucks, I used to use it...I didn't realize it was that horribly bad though...Reminds me of NetZero... To not be a complete spammer: Speed hasn't changed much in 22 hours lol, upload speed is a bit faster, but download speed went down...Oh well.
  21. Was that the recommended server, or were you trying to get the lowest score?
  22. -I was a bit disappointed that someone I hate wasn't seriously injured in a car crash a few days ago. -I burn things, a lot, including stuff that may not have been mine. -I have stolen something in the past 3 months, despite having swore I didn't. -I visit 4chan regularly...That may be a confession for some people. -I yell at my parents for using racial slurs, when I've probably used twice as many at school that same day. -I hate most French people. ---I also claim my left hand is useless because that's where the French part of my heritage lies, destroying the usefulness of said hand. -I can come up with the goriest of stories, but seeing someone break their arm or leg causes me to usually look away...I'm still not sure why if I come up with it its fine, but otherwise it's not. -Something has been burning in my room within the past 3 days, despite my claims of not burning anything in the house. -The reason I first started learning Java and C++ was to learn how viruses worked, and how to make them. I've since moved on to game programming and other, less illegal, programs (I actually want to work in the security field later in life..or right now, I want to, that perspective may change). -I should never have been released from Anger Management. --Similar with Psychology, but that was a money issue. -Unlike those who say they might snap and kill someone, I have snapped and was within a foot of killing someone, and I didn't/don't regret doing it. --I've also thought about what I may have done differently. Also have considered, and mentally walked through, different scenarios for different people, most recently about a week and a half ago.
  23. If you were serious, you wouldn't have used "*cries*"....The only time you should use that is if someone reaches through the screen, slaps you, is deaf, and demands to know what that slap has done. In other news, I got caught, but was actually applauded for something... [hide=Story]These 2 Freshman kids (I think, they were small and childish, so I'll go with Freshmen), were arguing and pushing each other in the hall on the second floor. Now, this area gets rather crowded while switching classes, and I barely have enough time to get to my 4th hour as it is. I don't need some little brats causing a slowdown and making me late, which will affect my grade. So, after they push each other, one of them is shoved into me, with a decent amount of force for the pushers size...Then, after hitting a few more people (unintentionally though it may have been), he gets shoved into me again, knocking some of my stuff out of my hand...I grabbed the kid by the throat, lifted him off the ground, and threw him back on the ground...By this time, the other kid had probably just shat his pants, because I easily have half a foot and nearly 2x the weight of the kid. All I have to do is stare at him and he breaks for it, running right into the administration. I believe it's the first time I've actually "fought" in school, in front of a teacher/administrator, and not gotten in trouble. But, as it turns out, the kids had been fighting recently, and were going to go through peer mediation...Guess that should have been scheduled a bit earlier.[/hide] Hidden in case people don't care to read it.
  24. Now that you mention it, I'll have to +1 this. I hate chain letters, they have no purpose. I should have died about 212 times, have bad luck for the next millennia or so (this one may be true, if I believed in luck), lost the love of my life about 173 times, and so on and so forth. I used to send chain letters back with the ending: "If you don't repost this in the next *insert random number here* minutes/hours/days/years, absolutely nothing bad will happen to you, you idiot."...I used to put in random threats to the person if they were consistant spammers (such as "although, I rather hope some crazy undead girl would come and devour you"). My mom used to be bad with this, sending chain letters or chain-prayers...So much so I made a new e-mail, got on her account, and changed the e-mail address from my old account to my new one. Logged in to it today and there's over 120 unread messages
  25. I wasn't trying to persuade you to switch to KIS, I was just seconding that it's a good suite, in case someone may have been wondering by and wanted to know how good it was. I've been thinking of switching from McAfee, to another free program (McAfee came free as part of our internet subscription)...So, Avira is good, yes? Or is it Avast! I should get? *scratches head*. I was thinking about a free suite of programs, to replace my resource-hogging, inadequate, current setup...Anyone think that the following would be good?: Antivirus: Avira AntiVir Personal Anti-Spyware: Ad-Aware, Spybot Search and Destroy (ICE), and maybe MalwareBytes AntiMalware. Firewall: Comodo (if it's really just McAfee being jealous). ...Or, the alternative suite...Ubuntu : (/joke...for now...I do intend to move on to it eventually though).
