I knew they'd go ahead with this stupid scheme. Why though? Gold sinks are completely overrated, and with their current server problems, if you only get 'one free death', this is going to be a real hassle.

What's stupid about them? What's wrong with giving people goals to work towards? It's not like it's required for comp cape or anything. I actually like your little suggestions and would support them in runelabs! :shades: Except for the fact that it isn't something you can work towards. It's pure RNG, and it rewards lucky scrubs instead of experienced, skilled, and dedicated PVM Hunters. It's an update that's designed for hardcore PVM'ers and yet does not reward them. There's a person in my clan, who got extremely lucky back when Vorago was released and ended up getting a Vitalis just a few kills in, and never went back. He's a complete scrub, and probably wouldn't be able to survive Vorago kill if he were to go back. On the other hand, I have known people who have consistently done Rago since it came out, have something like 30+ Wand drops, thousands upon thousands of Vorago kills (pre-SR counter), and yet don't have a Vitalis drop. TL:DR; Gold Final boss is a farce that is not a realistic goal, and nor does it recognize the talents, and efforts of people who actually PVM - it only rewards lucky people.

I am part of the hardcore PVM crowd, and he annoys even me at times.

So Mod Ryan apparently nerfed the Sign of Death so it that no longer does any damage to reflect immune bosses or if you die by typeless damage, for a number of reasons, but one of the reasons was that it was possible for you to die via Sign of Death and still get the pet even if they died again. That is such a rare circumstance. Why even bother? Is there any other J Mod out there who cares about more irrelevant shit? I really get the feeling that Ryan has a few HLF fanboys who constantly demand that he spend time on content for a really really really small minority of players. Also, the portent of death was a hidden update. Basically portent of death no longer works on any monster above 150 combat. Way to make it dead content. Oh and apparently Mod Ryan was also upset that people were suiciding with Portent of Death to do Araxxor reaper tasks. So what, if they were? You can only get 1 kill per hour with it (since it has a 1 hour cooldown), if they wanna waste their time and get kills with that much hassle, fine, let em. I don't see the problem. There was also a problem with Rago/Portent of Death, but that could have been fixed no doubt without killing it elsewhere. This is all hearsay, but it's probably true.

That doesn't apply to the basic Araxxyte Pet, as it doesn't have a threshold system.

I have always supported a minimum threshold. Sorry, but if you're some scrub who has 1 Araxxor kill, then you don't deserve the pet. It should be reserved for skilled and consistent hunters, not lucky scrubs. I get that in real life there is such a thing as luck, but there are many aspects of life which aren't about luck and rather about skill, and effort. Sure, people can win lotteries, but the engineers or programmers or surgeons who make the most money are not the ones who are luckiest, but rather those who are the most talented or skilled. In Jagex's tipsy topsy world though, everything is a lottery - and that is a problem. If I had to take a guess, at Jagex HQ, they don't get their salaries and wages based on effort or talent or skills, they probably all line up the J-Mods and they draw raffle tickets out of a hat, and that's how their salaries are determined. "What's the Chris L, you say you designed 5 bosses in 2013? Well, sorry, but your raffle only entitles you to minimum wage for this year!" Wouldn't surprise me if that's how it goes down there. I am kidding and being silly and facetious of course, but there is a point behind that joke, and it's that Jagex's philosophy of everything being luck based is ridiculous.

1030 kills, no pet, and this includes gambling, and shield camping P4. My friend has 2.1K kills, 800 gambles and no pet.

The Bombi pet is fine as is. You need to Maul HM Rago 6 times to unlock it, then I think it's like a 1/20 drop rate. Vitalis is of course a lot more rarer, but the chances of that getting the threshold system are practically nill. It would be nice if the basic Araxxyte pet had a threshold system, but that probably won't be happening either.

Even though I have a partial loot tab, and even though they're fun to keep, they're so bad, it's like having money that degrades.

:shades: Yeah, this should have been the title update. The only thing even remotely interesting in this update. Titlescape is always neat, and those familiars sound promising. I will try this thing out before I write off this update. The patch notes, aside from that one pretty awesome fix, was very bare though.

Just in case something happens to the first one. ;) Really though, I still click the abilities from the book on P4, but I have revolution on just in case I need to spam brews, that way my character can still keep auto-firing and building adrenaline. Thank you, though.

I have gotten lazy lately, and started doing full Revolution Kills, and I can easily do those even at 200-240% base enrage. Revolution does mean somewhat slower kills, but is otherwise usable for Araxxor.

If you don't loot the chest, the drops are moved to your bank, I believe. -- I hit over 1K Araxxor kills today: Also got B2B Spider leg pieces after somewhat of a drystreak. Not a bad day.

That's my point, they were awarded 1 kill, instead of 7.

That's because everyone was awarded 1 Haraken kill on SR release if they had a Kiln Cape , but they weren't awarded 7 Jads as well to along with each Kiln. So yeah, the stat is probably accurate in terms of reflecting the boss counter tallies, but the boss counter themselves are messed up.
