  1. Bullshit puzzles placed there for maximum annoyance. Fail. I did finish it though, the cutscenes were nice and it had a decent plot. Was sort of enjoyable except for the puzzles - which were not difficult, just annoying.
  2. I found out about it slightly before he made that thread, as he came into the clan chat and told us all that this was his last day. For all his flaws and all the various things he did that annoyed me to no end (and there were many), I have to say, still, he was one of the better mods and I am not exactly happy that he's leaving. At least, he would occasionally entertain questions/suggestions in person, unlike many other Mods who simply ignore people. And over the year or so, I did manage to pester him into making a few minor updates (notably the lootbeam message showing up through the filter message). So yeah, conflicted feelings.
  3. Thankfully I have a few thousand Slayer points to cancel any shit/troll tasks they come up with.
  4. Well, the first, and maybe second or third person to walk on the moon, that's exciting - but the 5th, 6th .... 15th... person to do it, at that point very few people care. The same applies to RS.
  5. Pretty sure this is false. Friend of mine plays (and streams) with broadcasts off, but I still get his drop notifications. Unless this was very recently changed, I'm pretty sure it still works.
  6. Does it go like this: Congratulations, you have received a rare new drop huge bounty on your head. RUN! Not really. There's an easy and obvious way (and possibly more) to prevent that from happening. Kinda screwed if you don't have 96 summoning though :D Then again, the wyrms are single combat, it's easy to tank it out and ROW out at level 30 wildy. Don't need 96 Summoning either.

  8. Clue scrolls were always meant literally to be the lottery of RS, so can't really complain that you aren't part of the 1 in million or whatever the odds are for it.
  9. It's not anyones "fault" to get lucky and receive a pet drop after one kill - why do you have to call them scrubs? because obv if you've done less kills than they have you don't deserve such a drop . . . standard elitist babble Yup, it's elitism and it's good. It's no different than if skill capes were a random item you could receive while performing any skilling action, instead of an item to be received after a certain standard. Would skillers be happy then? I doubt it. Boss pets are elite content, so they should have an elite standard. Also, I don't blame lucky people for being lucky, I blame Jagex for creating and enforcing a system where lucky people instead of dedicated people are rewarded.
  10. You were easily able to welfare God Wars without barrows though. There were plenty of people in Rune at Bandos, or people in Black D Hide at Arma.
  11. The suggestions for the pre-grave system are ridiculous. I have played since 2002, or maybe 2003, and as someone who has been PVM'ing at the all top bosses before the current system (ever since God Wars came out), I dare say my opinion counts for more than those who haven't. It's a terrible idea, and it's not even remotely comparable. Back in 2007, some of the best gear was extremely cheap (Rune, Black D Hide, Rune Crossbow, Whip, Dragon Weapons etc), and was cheap Welfare gear. You could do the best bosses in that gear (everything from DKS to KQ to KBD, to God Wars), and if you died, oh well, you lost maybe 300-500K, and if you were lucky you got drops such as Hilts which were worth 10's of millions. That is not in the least bit comparable to today's system where in order to make less money at top bosses you need to put in much more effort, have the best gear, which is either expensive or hard to come by, in several slots (instead of just 3-4 main items back then), you can't teleport out, and almost all bosses have KO abilities that kill even the best hunters on bad days, and servers are shit. Not even remotely comparable. And no, 2 minutes is not enough. It would be a narrow race to your grave every single time. DC? Lag? Gotta do something real quick? You just lost everything that you worked months if not years to get - as oppose to back in 2007 when you would lose a bit of rune and black d hide or some bolts at the most. Now, you have helmets, bodies, legs, gloves, boots, amulets, scrimshaws, capes, and expensive weapons. In those days, with black d hide top/bottom, Neitz, Rune Crossbow, Ava's accumulator, any gloves or just vambraces, glories, any boots or really cheap boots, I could have done Armadyl, teleport out, or even if I died I'd lose maybe 500K at most, and I'd be fine, and I'd be killing a boss where I could make tens of millions easily. I don't mean to be rude, but [bleep] nostalgia. I am completely fed up with people who clamor for nostalgia and want to cherry pick aspects of the game from 5-8 years, when it was a completely different time, place, and game (and this is important, really imporant), and they want to implant it to today's game, reflexively. It doesn't work that way. So yeah, [bleep] nostalgia.
  12. Tell that to the dozens of people who have various pets after only a few dozen kills. Err, what? I don't understand your point. Obviously just because a few people get lucky doesn't mean something isn't extremely rare. And I think you know that so I need more explanation to what your point is. It's more than just a few people. In any event, it's stupid - boss pets are prestige items that should be reserved for skilled and dedicated boss hunters, not lucky scrubs. I'd be in favour of minimum thresholds.
  13. Riperino. My condolences Veiva, you were the best at this.
  14. For every improvement, there is an equal and opposite nerf. This update was not an improvement. It's like saying adding an extra 0 all damage/health values is an improvement. There is no change in DPS, only how 'responsive combat feels' which differs between each player anyway. This. I am totally not used to this new 'feel', and so it's very annoying. It's rather annoying having to deal with major changes to the combat system every time Jagex gets the urge every few months. Not saying they shouldn't do any changes, but something like how responsiveness feels shouldn't be changed at this point. It is annoying constantly having to readjust.
  15. Tell that to the dozens of people who have various pets after only a few dozen kills.
  16. As for popular demand, there's a significant amount of people in the hardcore PVM community who hate RNG with a passion, and they particularly hate seeing "X person has [insert single digit] kills for Y pet" happening. Don't think I'd be alone on that one. I don't think they will change Final boss Gold, or Vitalis - and I don't personally care enough about either. They can leave it as is, just like Castle Wars and Trim. It's too late to change anything on that now. I won't be going for Final Boss Gold - I can live without that, but I do take objection to any assertion that this is for hardcore PVM'ers - it isn't, it's for lucky people, which is what my original complaint was. I don't actually care that the Final Boss Gold exists. I do want them to implement thresholds/guaranteed thresholds for all future pets and Araxxor, though. "1/5000 rate is common enough" - At Vorago? Lol.
  17. Again, if you hate the basics of the game so much, why play it? It will not change no matter how much you rant.Stop blowing things out of proportion with your lottery example but if that's what you are trying to do, then buy half of all the tickets and pray to rngsus. 50/50 chance to win, even better than getting Vitalis! Nope. I don't accept the "if you don't like it stop playing" mentality. I can continue to hate that aspect of the game and still play, and still ask that it be changed. Hell, thresholds were recently added to the game, and they are a step away from RNG (thresholds are an anti-RNG mechanic). A few years ago that would have been unthinkable, but Jagex did do it. Their original idea for boss pets was a guaranteed pet threshold system (so going back to the QBD pet, it has a rate of 1/2500 - their original plan was that at 2,500 kills, you'd be guaranteed to get the the pet), but they changed it at the last minute. So the sort of system that I like was actually something Jagex considered, and was very close to implementing at one point. And who says it won't change? Plenty of things have been changed because of popular demand in RS. They said flat out that they wouldn't do boss pet overrides, and kept to that line for 2 months, and people kept on asking that they do it (I was one such person, and I personally asked J Mods to do it). Well, what do you know? A few days ago a J Mod said they are now working on boss pet overrides. Never say never. I am not blowing anything out of proportion. The lottery example is 100% analogous to this. Drops in Runescape literally work like a lottery. It's just that most drops are common enough that you can typically get them in a reasonable time. Rare drops such as Vitalis are a different story though, and they literally work like a lottery. Hell, I think there are lotteries in real life with odds better than 1/5000. So I will keep using that example, no matter how much it annoys you. If you don't think the lottery example is analogous, then you're not playing the same game as the rest of us.
  18. You, sir, are implying way too much. I know exactly how the thresholds work. If you don't have vitalis, you go and get it. Simple as that. It may take a year or it may take a day but it's doable. Something being more time consuming compared to the others is simply irrelevant. It's just your blind hate against 'luck' talking. My hate against 'luck' is anything but blind. I consciously hate a system that does not reward effort or skill. As for the rest of your post, lol. "It's a 1/5K chance, you just need to go and get it, man". I wonder if you also go to people and tell them "You just go to the lottery store and win it...."
  19. You're forgetting about the basic Araxxor pet. It doesn't have a threshold system, and you need it in order to the unlock the 2 other Araxxor pets which do have a threshold system.
  20. Maybe you are just playing the wrong game and I should stop taking you seriously... You obviously know nothing about this topic. Do you actually understand anything about the threshold system? It ensures that as your kills increase (and you meet thresholds), your drop rate will be more favourable to you. For instance, QBD starts out at 1/2500. If you've done, say, 1000 QBD kills, then your drop according to the threshold system is 3/2500, or 1/833. It eventually caps out at 10/2500 (which is obtained at 5,000 kills), which is a drop rate of 1/250. Vitalis starts out at 1/5000. After 3000 Vorago kills, it remains at 1/5000. After 5000 Vorago kills, your odds are still 1/5000. After 100,000 kills, your odds are still 1/5000. You are basically being asked to win a lottery while investing massive amounts of time and effort (as Vorago is one of the most time consuming and difficult bosses in the game). An average teams gets about 4-5 kills per hour. Thus having half the pets means nothing. Vitalis is far by the rarest and most difficult to get pet. If you don't have it, you aren't getting Final Boss Gold. It is the limiting factor. You can theoretically camp all the pets in the game that have a threshold system (since your drop rate is more favourable over time) - that does not apply to Vitalis, you can camp 10,000 Voragos, and your drop rate on the 10,001 th kill will still be 1/5000, basically you're being asked to win a lottery, at a high level boss. All the pets that Dragonseance has obtained so far were threshold pets - they do not compare at all to the Vitalis. You'd know this if you actually knew what you were talking about.
  21. Yes, the whole game is luck based - and that is a stupid and bad thing, not something to be celebrated. Vitalis does not have a threshold system, neither does Araxxor. And I never said that hardcore PVM'ers do not get pets. The point remains that the single most important factor in determining whether you get a pet is luck - not effort. There are scrubs with a few kills who get pets, while people with thousands of kills who do not. What does that say? That the system does not reward effort. The recently released kill count records are false, as they only keep track of post Soul Reaper kills (which was released about 6 months ago - most bosses were released long before then), not the thousands upon thousands that people had before then. Also, my anecdote about the people I mentioned is not an isolated case - there are dozens of people like that. Gold Final boss is not a realistic goal for 'many' people. That is self-evidently false. Some 182 people have a Vitalis pet. 1/5000 Voragos is not realistic. Omid can realistically get this title, Dragonseance cannot (he does not have a Vitalis).
