  1. All in-game events are an epic failure mainly due to the fact there are far too many anytime they happen, and all anyone gets out of it is massive lag. So I can understand why they don't do them anymore (the in-game Q and A). I mean what are they supposed to do? Answer whatever questions out of a sea of spam only for their answer to instantly get flooded? In-game Q and A's were a bad idea.
  2. See... The thing I don't get about the whole "It's the completionist cape" argument is that the trimmed completionist cape exists, and at this point a fair number of its requirements are less rigorous than those on the regular cape. It's an inconsistency: titles from the likes of Rush of Blood and Soul Reaper are required for the main completionist cape when other minigames, post-quest rewards, and even whole miniquests are not. I would not say that the sole purpose of Trim is to have requirements which are more rigorous than Comp's. It's purpose (well, one of them) is to include all sorts of requirements that are peripheral (whereas Comp's requirement is to include the main or major requirements). Things like the Annihilator or Clan titles seem fairly arbitrary, though, especially when Vyrelord is on the trimmed cape. Likewise, there's a pretty significant overlap between The Reaper and The Famous, but both are main requirements. I would agree that the Annihilator title was pretty arbitrary as a requirement. The Clan Titles, although, I don't like them, in theory are supposed to be sort of quasi-task sets (you prove to important people in a significant area of the game that you're 'worthy' of their respect). A lot of requirements are arbitrary, as is much of the game. Like why get 99 in skills where the level 99 doesn't even unlock any tangible benefit? Shouldn't the mastery stop at whatever level allows you to do the last/best thing in that skill? That's another discussion for another day though. So yeah, a lot of it is arbitrary, but the Comp and Trim, now at least seem to have certain themes about them. They aren't necessarily always consistent, but they are there.

  4. Well, you can think of buying a t90 weapon as another buyable skill ... This. if you're a high-end player (i.e., going for Comp), even if you do the most minimal ways of money-making (QBD, Frosties. God Wars etc.), you should at the very least be able to afford Drygores and Ascensions. If you can't make that sort of money, then either, you don't have Overloads, Ancient Curses, high summoning, or you're doing something wrong which could easily be rectified (like you're just doing the wrong things to make money). If it's the former, i.e., you don't have expensive buyable skills like herblore/prayer/summoning at a high level, well, then you won't be eligible for Comp anyways, so there's no problem. In your case, it seems to be the latter - you're doing the wrong things to make money.
  5. Yup, basically that. There wasn't a single concrete thing on there that I was excited for.
  6. For such a long Q & A, there sure was very little information. Or perhaps I just didn't agree with some of the answers, so that's left a bitter taste in my mouth. Meh.
  7. Well in the EoC-Legacy beta, they had proposed abilities for shields based on tiers, which were suddenly dropped.
  8. My 50th Fight KIln: (Cause the helmet is ugly)
  9. ... Please, 'learning' to kill a boss is not something worthy of "put in the effort to achieve your goals." The people who are complaining about this requirement (of which I am not one) have no problem with putting effort in - they've already obtained the comp cape several times with the traditional requirements, which required far more effort than a little rs 'pvm'. Most of these people are complaining about the nature of these latest reqs, which are dissimilar to what the comp cape used to stand for. To be frank, those people have a stake in this discussion - do you? If not, maybe you should think twice before putting them down by suggesting they are not willing to put the effort in. A few points: -Yes, they have changed the requirements for Comp Cape. So what? By it's nature its an evolving thing and with new updates new requirements are added all the time. It wasn't exactly written on sacred stone somewhere that Comp could never have PVM requirements. -Many would argue and have argued that Comp, in principle, was supposed to be inclusive of all sorts of gameplay aspects, not just skilling but PVM too. That it didn't have such requirements until recently was an oversight/mistake that was rectified. -Everyone has a stake in this discussion - it's silly to suggest that only those who can't do PVM have something at stake. The natureof the Comp Cape and the game affects everyone to varying degrees.
  10. Rangers/Robin were BIS but only marginally better than alternatives. Aside from that, TT rewards have always been primarily cosmetic. Most people were looking forward to this clue rework because on the poll that passed earlier for clue reworks, things such as effigies from clues, just an overall improvement for general clue loot so it isn't utterly crap, was what was supposed to happen. They seem to have forgotten about that.
  11. Given that the barrows and shadow dyes can be obtained from hard clues, I highly doubt it :P Depends what the drop rate is. Could be as pricey as the Hard Set 3rd Age, probably more so since it's consumable (so the supply will always remain low), and it will have very high demand, since who doesn't like fashionscaping? It could be as 'cheap' as 500M per dye (which is a very optimistic outlook), in which case to colour one set of DW and armour would cost several billion. I have got that sort of cash, but I sure as hell won't be spending it on a non-tradeable party hat. Same goes for dozens of people I know. Hell, the only people who would bother with something like that are mega-billionaires (10B banks) or people who are already done with various 200M buyables, ie a very small minority of players. Hopefully Jagex doesn't mess this up.
  12. To be honest, I voted for Elf City, as I not only prefered it to Invention but I never liked Invention in the first place. Jagex mentioned at Runefest that it'd be a 'slow buyable' that was 'very friendly to our mega billionaires in the audience', which completely turned me off from the skill. And not for a lack of money, but I thought to myself, that's no way to design a skill. Also, since a lot of the things that made Invention appealing to others and could have been put in there (Level 90 Weapons, and various things that were on SOF) ended up being removed from it, why even bother at this stage to put into the game? I just find it amusing that such a huge project that they have been hyping for 2 years could be so easily scrapped without much fanfare. This is a routine occurrence at Jagex, they will hype up stuff (such as Construction Rework), then totally forget about it.
  13. I remember one time a friend of mine (and permanent Rago team member in RS3) decided it'd be cool to stream, as he occasionally did, our Rago trip. He was virtually unknown on Twitch, and had no less than 6 or so followers, but his computer and graphics card and streaming was pretty high quality, and since we were streaming a high level boss, pretty soon a lot of people came in to watch and comment (including a pretty famous streamer). Before we knew it, someone in the Twitch audience decided it'd be fun to try and crash us. So we had to hop worlds, leave our Clan Chats (since they had gotten in there too), and black-out the stream during World Hops to finally ditch those people.
  14. Well I am not going to lose any sleep over it either, nor care much for it, but I do find it amusing just how blatant they are in their preferential treatment.
  15. I am not opposed to people being punished for this sort of disruptive and negative behaviour (and this even being made a rule), but if it happens it should be done for everyone. It's just that everyone else has to deal with it themselves, they get told by Jagex "Sorry, we can't do anything for you, that's just part of the game, you have to accept it", but when it's someone with connections, J-Mods bend over backwards to solve their problems. It's a double standard is all.
  16. From the Reddit AMAA hosted this past week. Here's the link to that topic: http://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/2hftk1/elf_city_amaa_56pm_today/ Here's the link to the relevant section: http://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/2hftk1/elf_city_amaa_56pm_today/cks8ioz Too hilarious.
  17. I say this in the nicest way that something this terrible can be said, but I hope you have a horrible day. --- On a related note, the shitty Raffle is finally over, all I got was 3 Darts and 1 Bank Booth. Meh.
  18. So apparently Sparc Mac was doing a stream, and some people came and decided to troll him by crashing him, and they also sent him trollsome tweets. He sent those to J-Mods who promptly went ahead and gave all the 'harassers' perm mutes or 14 day mutes. This is causing an uproar since it's a clear case of streamer favouritism. Streamers of all reputations (not just famous ones, even completely unknown ones) frequently get people that are trying to troll their PVM activities and be on their stream by trying to crash them - most of the time, you just deal with it, you don't get to have Jagex come in and hand mutes to everyone (crashing, obviously, is not against the rules). Normal players also have to deal with crashers, and normally you can't just report them or contact J-Mods to deal with them, you have to fight them off. But apparently, if you're a famous streamer, you can punish crashers by contacting your J-Mod buddies to mute them for crashing, and for tweets (which are not in-game messages!). I found this all amusing: The first, second, and fourth posts all reference the incident in OSRS/2007 Reddit. Some more screenies: Jagex favouritism rearing its ugly head again in perhaps one of its most blatant forms ever.* *Assuming this all actually happened.
  19. Not quite. It's not as simple as everyone loving to hit bigger numbers. It's an objective fact that in most situations in Runescape, shields are completely unnecessary, and that using dual weilding or just DPS stuff will get you faster, more efficient kills, and you will take way less damage. Why would anyone, or should anyone, use shields if they are in actuality worse? Obvious solution: make shields more useful.
  20. I can't help but think of it in D&D terms: you're comparing a shield with an okay defense bonus to a shield with a smaller defense bonus and damage reduction... when you're fighting an enemy that's probably going to hit you anyway. Am I off base, there? Well, one of the things EoC did was that it made most mob monsters very very easy (some people derisively call it 'Ease of Combat'). Even at lower levels you can easily kill most slayer monsters without ever needing a shield, just about all of them in fact. Prior to EoC, I can recall using my DFS, even as a high level, on some stuff. So on most normal monsters, you don't need a shield at all (even my lower level IRL friends whom I have given shields/gear to, don't ever use them for slayer or any sort of training, even as they went from low levels to roughly about 90+ slayer/120+ combat). The only place you need shields for are if you're tanking monsters that deal a lot of damage (such as Vorago), and there, damage reduction matters a lot. So in the few situations you need a shield for, the 30% damage reduction of the T70 shields is very significant, and blows away the armour rating of the T90 shields. So it's warped. Yup, and even quite a few base tanks prefer Arcane, despite the better Res from Merciless. Wait, 5m a pop? they degrade to dust dont they? Nope, they don't degrade to dust.
  21. I, and a few others, had a chat with Chris L today. Apparently he still doesn't seem to understand that there's something wrong when t90 shields are like 5M a piece, and cheaper than t70 shields. Or why this isn't exactly a great incentive to do RoTS. He just brushed it off, and was all like "well, t90 shields are still useful!". How clueless can you get? Instead of buffing up the shields so that they might increase in value and people might be more inclined to do RoTS, or even some of the proposed changes in the EoC/Legacy Beta for T90 shields (that were suddenly dropped), they have to take the most backwards approach and just tweak the fight instead. Why couldn't they have done both?
  22. There is no contradiction between supporting a charity for disabled people with the aim of helping them, and not watering down your game to cater to people who are a statistical minority and unusual. That's like saying an Engineering Company who supports charities for disable people had better lower their standards and requirements so people with disabilities can more easily become engineers. Lives depend upon engineers correctly doing their jobs, none depend upon comp capers being able to do high tier pvm If you want to go down that route, why don't we just get rid of Special Olympics and simply place people with physical disabilities into the regular Olympics by lowering the standards? Or have some sort of 'adjusted' point/rule system, where for every lap that a disabled person runs, the healthy able-bodied person must run 3 to get the same points? Because we wouldn't want to exclude disabled people from that, would we and the Olympics is just a leisurely activity right, and no lives depend upon it? At what point do you want to admit that this all just becomes ridiculous? The fact of the matter is, different people are different and have different abilities and needs - one game cannot and should not be designed to cater to everyone, otherwise it would simply set the standard at the lowest common denominator. In any normal game, some people will simply be excluded, and that's just a part of life. That's not Jagex being insensitive to disabled people, or being hypocritical or insincere with regards to their efforts to help the less fortunate, that's just Jagex choosing to have a normal game. Doing what you propose only takes away the achievements of people who aren't disabled, completely alters the game for them, and causes resentment. If you have to alter the whole way your game works just so you can include every single person into the high end, then why not just make a separate game for disabled people, instead of ruining it for the vast majority of players just so you can make it better for a minority of players? That's insanity. Runescape is not a game that was designed for disabled people, it was designed for more or less your average MMORPG player - as such there will be various aspects of the game that disabled people won't be able to partake in and that's that.

  24. Agreed, this Ironman stuff is completely lame, and a pointless idea. Only a very minority of players engage in that sort of stuff, and they happen to be able to manage themselves quite well without Jagex's help (many are part of the TIF friend's chat). Why design an update such as this that will only probably appeal to a small amount of players? Meh. That and yet again splintering the community again. That seems to be their gimmick these days. Either it's bonus weekends, or creating yet another version of the game to draw in some niche audience. Hardly long-term solutions.
