Quest: Plague's End
Yup. It was one giant mess of incompetence and troll by Jagex. Firstly, instead of getting Chris L to write it, they got someone who probably hasn't even seen Araxxor in-game to write it (Mod Michelle - who is quite nice but ill-suited for this job). Secondly, after this update came out, she was slowly updating the Araxxor guide - I'd refresh it every 5 minutes and there'd be a few new sentences. Basically what it means is she was doing the guide on the spot, winging it. Thirdly, all she had was a few notes Chris L gave her. Like what? Then there were literally dozens of errors on there that were very basic. Then Chris L apparently saw the guide, gave her some feedback, she changed it and quite a few of the errors were gone, with some remaining. Chris L should have pre-written the guide (by Sunday at the latest) and it should have been updated in its entirety on Monday. Not have some poor women who knows nothing about it try and do her best. Then it turns out, even the updated guide from Chris L, was completely bare in information, and had no secret mechanics (aside from the 5 acid bounces) at all. After telling the community for 2 weeks there was more to Araxxor, that we were overthinking it, keep looking, and how it would be revealed on August 11, that's it? The supposed secret mechanic was something we already found on day 2 or something, yet he kept leading us on? What a giant troll! A lot of people are naturally upset about this and being ragey on the forums and sarcastic and poor Mod Michelle has to put up with Chris L's stuff.

Item Discussion & Price-checking
People are claiming that 1-3 J Mods confirmed that it was legit. Any word on that?

Item Discussion & Price-checking
Well, he can't dump them (because the price would crash), and also dumping them would not bring new money into the game (it would merely transfer pre-existing money from people who buy his furies to him). I was thinking more along the lines of alching the furies. At best he'd be able to sell a few hundred thousand of them, and the market would be saturated. The only way to cash out the rest of those furies would be to alch them. Has the price of furies already crashed? There's already threads up out there on RSOF and Reddit discussing the 1684K furies. Surely some people have panicked. #Bettersellfury

Item Discussion & Price-checking
I wonder what Jagex thinks about this. They're probably trying to figure out how he ever amassed all those furies. I bet they'll have a fun time with their anti-inflation efforts if this guy ever decides to cash out on all those furies. Also raises the question what the rest of his bank is like.

Different Level 90 Options?
Yes I did. Silly little typo. As for the advantages of having two different ancient spells (one on mainhand, one on off-hand), that can certainly be advantageous, I suppose, but only in rare situations. You wouldn't need it for general combat or high level PVM combat.

- Different Level 90 Options?
Oh, that, lol. Well I would have thought Unload or Deadshot would be better at trolling people. I think in my early days at Vorago, I used Deadshot, signed base tank, and the bleeds were still going on and nearly killed him a second time. Lol.- Different Level 90 Options?
By trolling do you mean actually killing someone, or sniping in a Resonance?- Different Level 90 Options?
In general: Nox Staff is slightly better than Seismic Wand + Orb, because Sonic Wave is slightly better than Conc Blast. Added advantage, Nox Staff is one item, so you can use a scrimshaw or some other degrading item and protect it on death instead of having to worry about Singularity. Dual Ascensions are slightly better than Nox Bow because Unload is a better Special to use than Incendiary shot in most cases, aside from that all abilities for DW and 2H are the same - though I think Needle Shot (DW abiity) is slighly better than its 2H counterpart. Dual Drygores are significantly better than Nox Scythe, because the Destroy threshold (DW threshold) is amazing and much better than 2H thresholds which are all oriented towards AOE damage - which is not terribly useful.- Noxious Scythe
The problem I am referring to is the abilities. Currently, the dual wield and 2H distinction is completely unbalanced and a disaster. For melee, there are a lot of abilities, and a decent bit for 2h-only and for DW-only. DW melee has Destroy, which is an amazing threshold. 2H thresholds are all AOE abilities (they attack multiple targets) but are worse than Destroy, and in high level PVM they are completely useless, you don't need AOE abilities, you need high DPS abilities. So DW > 2H, for melee anyways. Since this is the case, there is no reason to use 2H Scythe over drygores. Since drygores are like 100Mish at most for both, and the Scythe is like 400M+, the only place it can go is down (it is only high in price ATM because of rarity, not because of usefulness). The same thing applies to Ranging. The abilities are sort of messed up. There are several Ultimates in Ranged, but DW clearly has the better one (Unload). Aside from that, the 2H basic and the DW basic are more or less even. So why bothering paying 450-500M for a Noxious bow when you can pick up Dual Ascensions for 400M at most and they are equally as good, and have in fact a better ultimate ability? The Staff is the only 2H weapon better than it's DW version (Seismics) because for Mage all abilities can be used with 1h, 2h, or DW, except for Conc blast (DW ability) and Sonic wave (2h abiity), and between the two, Sonic Wave (because of nerf to Conc Blast and buff to Sonic Wave) is slightly better. So it makes a slight bit of sense to pay 500M+ for the Staff, since it is not only better (sligtly) than Seismics but is a cheaper alternative (dual seismics are currently like 700M or something) and it's one-item. Jagex expects all these items to stay high in price to serve as a reward for people doing Araxxor, but they have ignored all these factors. There are already alternatives out there (DW weapons in game) which ensure that these weapons can never be too high unless they are signifciantly better (and in all 3 cases, they are not significantly better than their DW counterparts). All the mechanics currently added to Araxxor to limit the supply of these weapons entering the game are really just a bandage-job, they cannot solve the fundamental problem. So I understand that a lot of people are annoyed that they can't sell their spider pieces (without having all 3) or their hilt pieces, but if they were tradeable the weapons would be worth even less and Araxxor would be even less profitable. The way it is currently designed sort of makes it so that keeping the Spider leg pieces untradeable and the hilt pieces untradeable as well is the only way to keep the prices up.- Noxious Scythe
Someone I know got a Fang recently, was able to buy the Stick for 460M, and sell the Scythe for 465M. It completely isn't worth it to gamble on that since the prices are volitaile and you could end up losing a decent amount of money. Just toss the Fang into your bank and forget about it for now. --- Also, if the stick parts were tradeable, the economy would be flooded with sticks (since plenty of people have 1-2 parts but perhaps not all three) and the price would plummet. Basically the fact they are untradable is a ramshackle way to keep prices artificially inflated for a poorly designed boss and a poorly designed 2h weapon system.- Clan Month - The Beginning + Character Name Clean-up - One day Countdown
Lol, just lol. I can't tell if your post is meant to troll or not. Or maybe you just through it was a good idea to ask for preferential treatment because you've had a comp cape for a whopping 3 months? Ridiculous, and utterly selfish. Honestly, if you want to make it fair, it should be first come first serve. If the names are hoarded, too bad you were too slow. Announce the date on which the names will be free'd. Few days before said date, release the name. There's going to be chaos on the servers anyway, at least this way no one is given special treatment. Yeah, the thing is, for something to be preferential treatment or favoritism, the criteria being judged has to be subjective. A player's total level is a firmly objective criterion, so its not preferential treatment or favoritism in any way, shape, or form. You earn levels, you earn privileges. She's not [bleep]ing suggesting that they give out names to people with [bleep]ing blonde hair first or something. God damn it. That definition is definitely bogus. What a player's total level is an objective fact. However, the notion that those with higher total levels or whatever should recieve any or X priviliges is a subjective and normative claim, not an objective one. I don't have a problem with giving priviliges based on whatever criteria, but let's not fool ourselves. It's definitely favouritism (which may or may not be justifiable depending on the circumstances).- Clan Month - The Beginning + Character Name Clean-up - One day Countdown
It's not about finding a good name, it's about finding the right name. A little bit of creativity can't always work around that. ...Especially if that right name is just going to end up on an account that exists solely to hold on to the name. Jagex could have definitely done lots to prevent name hoarding. There is plenty of outrage on RSOF about that, and even J-Mods have admitted they made a mistake and that they intend to put in fail-safes with the next batch of names to prevent this sort of stuff, but even then, even if Jagex had done that this time, the chances of getting a particular name were still low. There are plenty of people after them.- Clan Month - The Beginning + Character Name Clean-up - One day Countdown
Were you really expecting anything more? There's a few 'simple' (meaning without numbers or alternate spellings) that a lot of people want. The chances of getting a particular name for any one individual were always low. There's nothing that can be done there. ------- This is not directed at you in particular: I don't get why so many people are so obsessed with getting a certain name. There's plenty of names. If you can't get a name you want, be creative, go with something else. That's what I did a few years ago and I haven't changed my name since then. I have used the name-change service maybe a total of 2 times since it was first released. I didn't get my first choice for a name, so I went with sometihng else and that was that. I grow tired of people constantly changing their names anyways. It's annoying having to figure out who is who. Name changes are sort of fun, but they get tiresome and cliched when people are constantly doing it every other month.- Araxxor, Twitch Integration and Lobby Update
But the only way to make money with this boss is to make the spider leg, which means you must do all 3 paths. The hilt pieces are worthless. Was Path 3 easier? Sure ( a moderate buff would have been okay). This isn't Rago where people skip Vitalis and Green Bomb Week and just camp Scop for as many wands as possible. Anyone who was just camping Path 3 for easy kills completely missed the point of this boss and wasn't going to be making much money. Even if 1 path is easier than the others, it doesn't matter, because unlike Rago and ROTS, this boss forces you to master all 3 paths. Every rotation-based boss in the game has certain rotations which are markedly easier than the others (see Rago/ROTS). That's not a problem.- Araxxor, Twitch Integration and Lobby Update
In addition to the light update which is completely idiotic. Now on P3-P4, all you do is spam eat while hoping to get into the spotlight, thus drastically reducing the time you have to DPS Araxxor and the minions. Yes they buffed up the loot somewhat but made the the boss fight much more difficult (also increased enraged buff from 200%). It's like these people don't understand plain English and are just downright [cabbage]. All the players post feedback saying more or less the same thing (buff loot, reduce instance costs, maybe get rid fo grave spiders, change the radius of cleave attack, don't make melee so underprivileged), and they just ignore half of that and go do other stuff.- Araxxor, Twitch Integration and Lobby Update
wait, so if you do path 3, phase 3 has 200k health? No, I think that only refers to if you do Path 1, skip P2, then on P3 Araxxor has 200K HP, whereas before this update, if you did this, it had 150K.- Araxxor, Twitch Integration and Lobby Update
So they added some secret buffs to Araxxor, the lights on P3 deal 700-1K damage, and if you skip a phase, whereas before you had to deal half the damage on a later phase, now you have to deal he full 100K. Lame. I guess they had to make us 'earn' that 200K profit increase in the loot rewards.- Behind the Scenes - August 2014
I see no reason why you would forgoe experiencing batch 1 in order to wait for the whole of it. Also, it's likely that there will be many unbalanced things in batch 1 - may as well take advantage of them while you can - the early bird always wins in RS. Also, this way you won't be completely overwhelemed by a large swathe of new content if you don't do any of it and just wait till december. Well, I can think of a few... - I'd be starting from scratch, essentially, as I dropped all of my stuff many moons ago. - I'd need time to figure out RuneScape on Linux (as I am not a fan of using a client to play something that should "just work" in a browser). - I'd need time to get used to the interface and figure out its intricacies. - I'd need time to get some gear. - I also work 40 hours a week, and my primary off-time focus isn't gaming, it's programming-related stuff (OWASP, AngularJS, better programming in Java, etc). December seems like a fine time to me, especially since I could take my time with everything that I would care about consuming for the elf update. The rest of the game just won't appeal to me as much, since the elf city is the last bit of closure from '04. Even bearing all that in mind, I'd suggest starting now. Just spend perhaps 10-20 minutes here and there (once every couple of days), to learn about stuff you missed, otherwise you will be very overwhelmed when you get back to the game. Learn the interface, a bit about the economy, make some new friends/reunite with some old ones, perhaps train skills slowly so you can meet the requirements stated in the design documents so you can actually access the neat parts of Elf City when they come out and stuff.- Behind the Scenes - August 2014

Also, this way you won't be completely overwhelemed by a large swathe of new content if you don't do any of it and just wait till december. Well the early bird always wins apart from drop tables which nearly always get boosted later on, or upfront gp/points prices that nearly always get lowered, or anything where you might enmass die since they nearly always bug graves out on them things... Yes there are disadvantages, but your examples are not all that accurate and there are many counterexamples. They may buff drop rates, but most of the times, the rare drops are almost always at their peak price the days after release. For example, Mod Ramen is currently working on buffing up the normal loot of Araxxor because it is currently very lackluster, but guess what? Spider Legs, and the Noxious wepaons will likely never ever again be worth anywhere near 1-2B again (which is what they were for a few days). The weapons are currently 400M-500M, at most. The people who did this boss during the early days, some of them, walked away with billions. Early birds win. The first ROTS shields sold for 1.6-2B, and they rapidly dropped within the same day and the next few days to less than 300M, and then soon to 100M only. Early birds win. There are often various methods that Jagex doesn't test properly, resulting in very OP experience gains which are later on nerfed (there's dozens of examples of this, such as EoC). Early birds win. Sometimes they reduce prices, others times they don't. Grave glitches are definitely a problem, though the rewards are also very good during the early phases.- Araxxor, Twitch Integration and Lobby Update

Or during the several years right before EoC where people kept complaining on forums asking for a PJ timer and Jagex never delivering. I think they had something of this sort in PVP worlds (in the later stages), if I am not mistaken.- Artisans Workshop help

I guess I am done with this shit boss then: Sad, because I can do pretty decent kills now, but this boss has a thousand trollsome mechanics about it (that don't even make it harder, just more annoying). - Different Level 90 Options?
