  1. I took vodka on a field trip to the Festival of Nations with a friend of mine. Basically it's a bunch of booths set up with different countries' food/clothing/culture/etc. in them that you can buy or view. We were basically on our own for the whole day so it was easy to get away with. I smoked a cigarette in the bathroom once, so that's the worst I've done on school property.

    Today...

Today I'm voting for the first time in my life. Wisconsin recall elections are today for six Republican state senators. I've been eligible to vote since 2008, but I haven't because of lack of interest in the candidates. I finally feel like my vote is going to matter in an election.
  3. If you own a pair of hi-fi headphones, songs that are non-FLAC are glaringly obvious. FLACs can be converted to .WAV using WinAmp, dragged into iTunes, and then converted to MP3 (a reasonable file size). FLACs are totally and completely worth it for those of us who have those "good" headphones :P
  4. Now that would be funny  This. lol, i wonder if i should turn it on now? Naw. It'll be the same midi-crap it's always been.
  5. If I don't feel like answering someone back on Facebook chat, I just ignore them. If you make a habit of being inconsistent in your replies, people get used to it. It's when you type back immediately all the time that you get accused of ignoring people when you're not paying attention.
  6. I disagree. If people are made well aware that actions have consequences, there is nothing they can do BUT stop. That's like saying because they put people in jail for looting the riots will continue and breed long term dissent. No, it's not like saying that. Putting someone in jail is a logical decision for rioting and looting and people that riot and loot are aware of that. The public is aware of this as well. Shooting rioters and looters is not logical nor is it effective. Even if the rioters and looters are in the wrong, that is not the way the populace will interpret it. They will see it as police shooting citizens and things will get worse.
  7. Hold on a minute here - you're proving something other than what I was saying. I'm not condoning shooting looters nor calling it ethical. I'm saying it would be effective in ending the riots. No, I'm saying that if these riots are stopped with extreme violence on the part of the police, the riots will not end. They might stop for a day or two, but not for good. Which is why I said it would create long-term dissent among the populace.
  8. Not when you're dealing with people having no greater purpose. The majority of these people are just out to cause trouble and loot knowing there is no real consequence. If looters were shot on sight, these riots would have been over days ago. I realize it isn't a realistic solution, but it would be an effective one. I'm not too sure it would work. While it would quell most of the violence, it seems barbaric which would be, in my opinion, stooping to the looters' level. As long as these rioters aren't using guns of their own, I don't see the need for riot police to use their own guns on them. Over the long-term it would create more dissent among the populace than using other methods of riot control.
  9. In other news, I haven't played with sound on since 2005. The graphical updates are kind of cool though.

    Today...

For me, things changed when I started listening to whole albums. Good ones are more than the sum of their parts. Before that, all i had was a [cabbage]-ton of Iron Maiden and Judas Priest songs. This totally. I started listening to entire albums when I saw Elton John on Conan saying that (paraphrasing here) listening to one song of an album is the equivalent of looking at one brush stroke of the Mona Lisa. I never download singles anymore and I rarely listen to individual songs.
  11. Shooting rioters is just going to make things MUCH worse. That's probably the dumbest thing they could do right now.

    Today...

Because music speaks to us, for some it's films, for some it's literature. Everyone has something like that in their life.
  13. If you drink on the weekends and you do your homework before you go out, you'll be fine.
  14. I f-in love it. Just like you love sheep XD

  15. I'd rather just drive an automatic.
  16. Interesting...I've never even considered that. My guess would be what the drawing is but I have no clue if it's right :-P
  17. My Dad made me watch this as a kid, I love it!!
  18. Le mépris (1963) This film is simply stunning. I loved Godard's Breathless, but this film really blew me away.
  19. No. Realists. There's a big difference. Even if Jesus and Christianity are real, does this lady think Jesus IS READING FACEBOOK??????
  20. This was on my Facebook today and it annoys the hell out of me. Does she really think that Jesus is going to intervene on a case by case basis to stop the natural atmospheric flow that generates weather patterns? Most of those hidden comments are "I'm praying too!!!!". So annoying.
  21. My friend has a bearded dragon named Zeus and that thing is awesome. They get much bigger though, so be prepared.
  22. The Eagles are all hype. We saw how Vick crumbled under pressure and Andy Reid has yet to put together a Super Bowl caliber team.
  23. Because the Packers are better....and closer to Canada than the Vikings! In all honesty, the organization is run better, Lambeau Field is very historic (they don't play in an inflated marshmallow dome lol), and I'm from WI so we're going to be bitter enemies if I see you rooting for the Vikings :P
  24. I think what you meant to ask was are there any PACKERS fans here, because following the Vikings is foolhardy. :-P
