Electronic Music
Yeah, I know it's not ambient, but it's too ambient for me. It has too many of the characteristics of ambient music, if you will. [hide=Kong - Bonobo (My type of chilling music)]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_wBDYOa_Ew[/hide]

Not a fan of Flying Lotus, too ambient for my taste.

Nationality & Belonging to a country
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maslow%27s_hierarchy_of_needs#Love_and_Belonging I suppose that the more you belong to other groups such as those mentioned above, the less one feels the need to belong to their country. I'm in the same situation as you; I was born in Morocco, I moved to France two years later, I moved back to Morocco after 4 years, then to Germany for 2 years, and then to Canada. I think the latter is where most of my identity has been formed, and yet I still don't fully belong with a group of people who have lived around here forever -- if you make a reference to Sesame Street, I won't get it, because I didn't watch that show (and whenever I did, it was in French). Sometimes I think I'm a very poor Moroccan, but there's no helping it and I can't really blame myself for it. The only reason I see for people being patriotic is being thankful for what your country has given you, and giving back to your country. Being patriotic isn't about shouting your love for your country; it's about loving it.

[hide=Couscous - Mr. Flash (Electro/Arabic)]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z66VtIu9tDk[/hide] I think this is a very original track. I can take the whiny violins because I grew up with that type of music, let's see if you can. [Edit] Sorry for the double-post. The samples come from The Joy of Lina by Ihsan Al Munzer.

Happy July the 4th!
They blocked off 4/6 lanes of Rideau St to let the Queen go by. No one cares more about her more than they care for an animal at the zoo. [Edit] Right this isn't a Canada Day thread. I'll stop.

Happy July the 4th!
On the barren freezelands of the Great White North, in the main hamlet of Canadia, festivities were running strong. The villagers had congregated near the town market -- officially, to celebrate their independence from their British relatives, whose Queen was paradoxically visiting that same day; officiously, for the sea of beer-laden friends that awaited them there. Most had forgotten the initial commemorative nature of the gathering, and apart for the handful of workers in the shops or out selling patriotic merchandise, all everyone was looking for was a drink and a chat. That's who. [Alternative ending: And to this day, not a single [bleep] was given.]

The exact time of YOUR death...
^No, logic is not applicable here because no one can tell you how you'll die regardless.

The exact time of YOUR death...
No, I'm too scared of dying.

Today...
I didn't even know that Canada day existed until last year. Don't worry, I haven't remembered the 4th of July for several years either. I'm just not big on this "belonging to a country" business. I'm almost positive every stable country has a national holiday... Regardless, I'm not even Canadian (I'm probably considered a refugee), it's just a chance to meet friends and have fun.

The Reign of Kindo
Well I know their pianist is quitting, not sure if it's pre or post album recording though.

They're an extremely talented indie/jazz band. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnUwHztRemM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PnSesCfXfYI They have an album out called Rhythm, Chord and Melody and they'll be releasing another soon, sans their pianist though, I don't know much about that situation.

Electronic Music
So I just listened to three minutes of that and I have no idea what happened. 0-1:40 = drum gallop, with fills and something about cigarettes. And creepy atmospheric noises. 1:40-2:12 = drums on every 16th, then back to gallop. Added hi-hats. 2:12-3:00 = tripping me out, girl's saying scary ass stuff, so I stopped. Whatever floats your boat, but damn. At least I tried. :P

No Sex Please, We're Middle Class
When lyrics are convoluted and make no sense, someone usually paraphrases the whole song line-by line or paragraph by paragraph. but that's inferring your own personal interpretation, expanding the text. What i've provided is a summary where the words are already present. I see the similarity, but personally find a qualitiative difference. My point was most of the thread has been trying to figure out what the article signifies, instead of discussing the points it advances.

Most overrated band/artist
The thread was proven useless after 5 posts. Nothing new here.
