  1. My friend did that in an old peoples home. Then she went to Africa to do it in an orphanage. She's weird like that ;) I don't need to work. During year 9 I worked 9.5 hours a day, 6 days a week, for 8 and a half months. I earn't enough then to let me afford a decent place in university, and not have to work often when I get there.
  2. Fortunately I have three years of university to stave that off! Your_Mother, that's a nice job (nice as in, sounds cool). What exactly is it? I assume if your only 16 then it's just admin, but if your talking to the patients and now am on the ambulance, I get confused. It must be sad to see people die, but think of all the other patients who didn't die!
  3. Yes you do see some stuff like this on fox once in a while.. Don't you libbies know something's not right when ABC, NBC, and CBS never bring up anything good about the war, and they bash it all the time.... Then how come Bush was elected a 2nd term, and how come Fox News has a higher rating than any of the Major Three Networks combined Break out of your shell please, the guy that made this topic is trying to get you to see both sides.... It took two pages, but there it is! The inevitable liberal media argument! Do really need to go into how the mainstream media is biased towards an easy story, and distasters and bombings in Iraq are easy stories? About how people are more likely to buy a paper with a corpse on the front than a smiling grandmother? About how Fox counts you as a subscriber even if you've only got basic cable and don't watch Fox? I'd go on, but I really can't be bothered. Anyway, about the white flag thing from ealier. Do you mean that they make signs like that in order to get through checkpoints easier? Coz that could explain the kids face. In the pic that Merciful edited, the kid holding the sign looks like he's about to cry. Why would he be about to burst into tears if he's happy?
  4. Me and my mate were showing off how tough our stomachs are by taking turns punching each other as hard as we could. Shows off how hard we can tense. Why? I believe it was something to do with the girls watching us, I'm not sure. And I think alcohol was thrown, though not with me, as I was driving, this was only last May. And I do stupid things sober. Anyway, we're taking it in turns to punch, our stomachs are steadily getting redder, and we're gradually punching harder and harder. I decide I'm gonna try and knock him down, slip, and end up punching him right in the hip with the knuckle on my little finger. I still can't make a fist properly with my right hand because of that.
  5. Lol we found out that you could access all year 9 and 10's files by simply Right clicking and creating a new shortcut for //server2 :D I never got caught though. I never told the school about it til I left. But IT lessons were never boring. Some of my friends used the server2 shortcut, but they'd disabled the new shortcut thing. So we had a bit of fun with Words 'open' program, because we could still acces it. Once we'd placed our own folder in there, it automatically allowed us acces. So I let everyone in, and then removed all traces. On the last day of school I left an annonymous note for the schools admin - a brand spanking new wallpaper. I haven't checked yet, but I'm not sure they've worked out it was me that did it.
  6. You people all seem to have got in trouble for physical reasons - you need to control your anger. I just bottled up all of mine over 5 years, and took it out on them on the last day of year 11. I even hospitalised one, though that was the school over reacting. They couldn't stop his nosebleed. Which I'm sure was because he's nose was a lot flatter on his face than it was in the morning. Only reason I didn't get suspended or expelled was because I'd already left the school - already done my exams, and it was book handing in day. Other than that, I ran the schools network for 4 years. Right at the end of my first year, this random year 11 had nicked the administrator's password, and decided to have some fun. As I was sitting next to him in the labrary, he gave me and my mate full admin privelledges. I could even ghost use computers, and deleate teachers accounts! I had lots of fun with that.
  7. How about this :? . Quote there kinda explains it all, guy commited suicide after overhearing a spoiler at the mall. Here's the article: http://www.yubanet.com/artman/publish/a ... 2620.shtml You really need to check your sources better. The guy who wrote the article "writes a daily humor column at http://www.borowitzreport.com". It comes from a comedy website. And just read the article: If you can read that and take it seriously, you have no sense of humour. Of course, if the guy was real, then he was bit of an idiot. What was he gonna do with his life once he'd finished the book? Sit around in front of the computer for 4 years waiting for the next one? I highly doubt that's real.
  8. So, how where the most carefree days of your life then? While your glad to lose the teenager mark now, you won't be when your 40! By that time, I'll still be 38, plenty of time!
  9. Wish I was doing that. I'm going to Africa as well, but it's not like that. I tried desperately hard to get out of the family holiday, but my parents pulled that 'its your last one so you have to go' line. I hate going to places like that as a tourist, its not a nice feeling. How did you get involved with Comic Relief then? Oh, and spend my money wisely, I've given a fair amount to CR over the years!
  10. People can get hardened by death. Its a perfectly natural transition. Doesnt sound right, especially if its a one book leap like that. Umm...how else were we suppose to know how Harry got his messages from Dumbledore? Wasn't just dumbledore... It helps build Harry's character and show that he is developing in ways the others aren't. Preparing to fight Voldemort. Been there done that? If you meant it helps him stay in character, im just saying its getting a bit old... Thats just IMO though. Ginny is one year younger than Harry. Guys gnerally date down. There's nothing awkward or "under-age" about Ginny. Didn't she had a crush on her? Now its the opposite it seems, IDK. Well they should shouldn't they? If they've read 5 books so far than they should already know whats going on. Well what about those people who are new to this? I mean in the past books the author often goes out of the way to explain stuff even though they appeared in a previous story. I dont know, it just seems that her way of telling the story has changed somehow... Like its doesnt sound the same. I liked her way of narrating in the previous books... Look, I just gave my observations... :( Frankly, by book 6, if you don't know whats going on, you never will. She could have made the book 5 times a long, filling in as much detail as possible, but if you haven't read the rest of them, you will never understand. As for the underage girls quip. They're both 16. She has her birthday during the school year, I think before Christmas (sept - Dec, I think). Harry has his in late July. If he'd have been born a few months later, he'd be in her year group at school. As it is, there's barely 6 months age difference between them. So it's not that bad. And anyway, wasn't Cho in the year above Harry? Or was she the same on?
  11. Warning, it gets even more surprising!
  12. The system that came with my car is good enough for me thanks. I turned the bass up so I can hear the bass line (which is my favourite instrument in a rock band), but not loud enough to hear it outside the car. Unless your car has no system, just stick with what you've got. It's easier, and has usually been designed to creat the best sound within your car's chassis.
  13. You filthy, despicable creature! Go write a letter of apology now! Nah, that's not bad. 1) You didn't actively steal anything, you were just given more than you paid for. 2) the fries cost the company about 5 cents, and I'm sure they just made a customer for life out of you (face it, you'll be going back, won't you). 3) they didn't better coz they were stolen. They tasted better coz they'd only just been fried, where as the others had probably been fried 10 mins before. 4) You just made me hungry, I'm off to lunch.
  14. could be...after all, look at petey pedigrew, confirmed dead is nothing Either way I don't see how it matters. The note says, "I know I will be dead long before you read this" so him being dead fits perfectly. they also said he wasn't important enough to be killed by voldemort himself so theres a chances hes alive  Either way, he had the Third Horcrux, so H/R/Hr need to find him, or some record that says what he did with it. And even a comfirmed kill can come back in some form, be it a paper trail, or a portrait, or even a ghost. How odd would it be if RAB turned out to be Peeves or the Bloody Baron? I also wonder who Harry's gonna confide in. I mean, he has Ron and Hermione, but even through the past 6 years, he's had people he can talk to about stuff he's had to hide from them (like the beginning of book 5). If those three are striking out on their own, then R/Hr are gonna learn a lot more about Harry than they have before, and are gonna be more at risk. I still think he will have someone 'left behind' who he can talk to. Personally, I'm betting on Lupin or Mr Weasley. I also wonder about the structure of the next book. This one was unique in that it had 2 chapters that weren't Harry's point of view - one was the PM, and one was Spinners End, which seemed to be from Bellatrix's POV, though it could have been Snape's or Narcissas. Or none. But If H/R/Hr do leave Hogwarts, then we're still gonna need to learn what happens there. I just wonder who's POV it will be. I'm betting a split between McGonagall and Ginny. McGonagall because then we still get a glimpse of Dumbledore (via his portrait), so she can learn about the Horcrux's and H/R/Hr's plan. Ginny because... there's barely anyone left that's close to the Order inside Hogwarts, so it's gotta be here. Plus, we need to see how much she misses Harry (see below). I reckon we might get a 'His Dark Material's' type ending - love is the mechanism that saved the world(s) there. We know that Harry's power is love, so I think his love for Ginny (and Hr/R, coz I reckon they'll be captured) will give him the power to kill Voldy. And H/G ain't over yet. There's still Fleur and Bills wedding, so he can't avoid her there. I reckon she's gonna go up to him and force him to go out with her again. The Death Eaters (Malfoy) and hence Voldemort know that he likes her, and that will be used against Harry whether Ginny is his official girlfriend or not. So I reckon they'll go out again because it won't make much difference anyway. Although my friend thinks it will be Ron that does the actual persuading, because he can see how much he misses her. From here on, little basis on books, just what I think will happen. I'm thinking that H/R/Hr hunt down and destroy all the Horcux except one. We learn how the war is going on (not well, expect to see a lot more dead. I reckon we'll lose Percy Weasley, Fudge, and probably another teacher. Not McGonagall, but expect Ravenclaw to be missing a Head of House) through McGonagall and Ginny. Hagrid will be the new head of Griffindor, simply because there isn't really any teacher that we know well left. H/R/Hr will find Bellatrix during their hunt for the Horcrux, who will tell them of the unbreakable vow. He will realise that Snape may not be all bad, but he still cannot trust him. Bellatrix will try to kill Harry, but the spell will just bounce off him and Kill her instead. I think the Prophesy means that Harry can only die by Voldy's hand, and Voldy can only die by Harrys hand. Unless he is fighting Voldy, Harry is pretty much invincible. He can be weakened, but he cannot die unless by Voldy's hand. Not sure if that bit counts, but I'd like it to be. Also, remember that bit I meantioned about 'Dumbledore's gleam of triumph', and one person said it might be that having Harry's blood and Lilly's protection might backfire upon voldemort? That might come into play soon. There will be two 'climaxs' to the book. H/R/Hr will go for the last Horcrux on the same night as the Death Eaters attack the MoM and Hogwarts. The Ministry will fall, Hogwarts will barely survive. The remainder of Voldy's opposition will travel into Hogwarts, which will cease to be a school, and is now a base of opperations for an army. Ginny and several students will get captured. Because H/R/Hr have gone to find the Horcrux, they will have seemingly dissapeared to the wizarding world. The world will lament the loss of the 'chosen one' and will believe all hope is lost. Meanwhile, H/R/Hr have gone after the last Horcrux. Voldemort is there, having realised what is going on. Possibly accompanied by Malfoy. The rest of the Death Eaters are attacking Hogwarts or the MoM (remember, this all happens on the same night). Right after the 3 get the Horcrux, Voldy shows himself, and H/V duel, while R/Hr keep Malfoy off him. Malfoy gets defeated, but not dead. Voldemort is pinned, as the wands don't work properly against each other, and with 3 wizards against him in an enclosed space he is steadily being worn down. Eventually, in desperation, he touches Malfoy's Mark, which call all the Death Eaters to him (which saves Hogwarts, but too late to save the MoM). Voldy scarpers. R/Hr are stunned by the Death Eaters. Harry can't be killed, but he's certainly weakened. Eventually he has to apparate out, leaving R/Hr behind. Gets to Hogwarts, is patched up by Madam Pomphrey (who can survive anything), finds out what's happened in the wizarding world. Do you see where the two/three different perspectives come in? The two battles are going on at the same time, so we cut between them. So Ginny, Ron and Hermione, plus a few other students (people like Colin Creevey and such) have been captured, simply to lure Harry in. In he goes, except the Order won't let him go alone. This is the counter attack. Backed up by an army of wizards, Harry eventually breaks through, and has a final showdown with voldemort. They deul, blah blah blah, JKR can work out how that works. Harry wins but is severly weakened (possible clash of blood, involving Lilly's protection here). The left overs of the Order come through (severly reduced, the Death Eaters took their toll). They've won, the world is saved, H/G R/Hr and Tonks/Lupin can get married, but there'll inevitably be some kind of twist that changes Harry. I think he'll be haunted by Voldemort. While most people choose to move on, Voldemort is afraid of death, so comes back as a ghost, and decides to haunt Harry til he dies. That last bit can be in the epilogue, some kind of 'to be continued.... but it won't be' kind of thing. So yes, that's how I think book 7 will happen. I will be almost undoubtedly wrong. As my copy of book 6 is now being read by someone else, I can't read it again to glean some information, such as my spot about dumbledore in book 4. Ah well. And mugglenet has to re open! I couldn't give a damn about their forums, but the editorials are necessary! And thanks for the comment about my previous post  Hopefully this one was as good. Took me long enough to write anyway.
  15. Oooo, Sirius' little brother! Never thought of that! I thought he was confirmed dead though? And even though Dumbledore is dead, he will return - Harry has freaky dreams. Kind of like Ben advised Luke after he died - in spirit. It will be a similar thing. Actually, I just re-read the last few chapters (from when Harry/Ginny go out to the end) because it got a bit confusing the first time round (which was probably the intention). But the bit at the end where Harry is planning - it sounded like an RPG plot. Get the Horcrux's - individual dungeons. Final showdown with Voldy - final boss. Had Rowling been playing too much final fantast? About bloody time Harry and Ron got some decent action - all Harry had before Ginny was one pull, and Cho was crying at the time. Ron, meanwhile, had the 'experience of a 12 year old', in Ginny's words. I mean, they're 16! Slackers! The emotional attachment sucks - I'd managed to spend the past week reading it unattached, looking specifically for possible plot clues. Now I go and get emotional again (see my delight at H/G and R/Hr, and my subsequent shock at H dumping G). It's gonna take 6 months before i can re-read this and start trying to properly work out who RAB is. I'm honestly not sure whether Harry will return to school. I know he's intending not to, but can he honestly stay away? It is supposed to be about his school years. I think he might try to strike off without it, using 12 Grimmauld Place as his base of operations, but will eventually be forced to relocate to Hogwarts where it's safer. I reckon the last Horcrux might be hidden somewhere in Hogwarts - similar to Philosopher's Stone. Go full circle, start where you begin. Anyway, only a couple of days before Mugglenet re opens and I can read all their editorials.
  16. I'd say around 80% of what I'd predicted came true. There were two bits that I didn't like: 1) The Horcrux - having someone else steal it before Harry and Dumbledore is a clever way of setting up the next book, but it's such as waste! I hate things like that - it just makes it seem like Dumbledore threw away his life for no reason. 2) Dumping Ginny - yes, it was the right thing to do, but how harsh is that! To be fair, it displays a very high level of maturity but... well, I couldn't do it!
  17. I hate knocking my funny bone - my mate knocked it with a bat last sunday. It took 20 minutes for me to be able to pick up my drink without it falling out! Fortunately I could use my left hand  And Bubsa, that is probably the single most funniest story I have heard on these forums. Probably because my old common sounds exactly the same - plenty of blindspots, and no green criss-cross stuff on the glass. I could easily imagine the exact same thing happening to me. Except I'd be the dude jumping out at you ;)
  18. Well, when I go on Mugglenet, it says it's only 7 hours, which is midnight tonight (UK time) - the time when most bookstores and supermarkets are open for a party for release. The time when I would be buying my copy, if it wasn't for my cousin (see above post). Maybe it adjusts it's time for each time zone and it's respective release, or maybe you're getting it at 00:00AM Uk time (which could be 3AM or 7PM in your tim, I have no idea), so that no one gets it before the other? Btw, thanks wyrm. Now I can read this tomorrow and not get spoilers.
  19. Broke my arm because I was playing football. I was in goal, and had left my watch on. I saved a shot, the force of the ball snapped my hand back, and the watch dug into my arm, giving me a small fracture. Not bad though, I got to use a laptop in lessons (I was 12 at the time, this was definately a cool thing).
  20. *Waits for the inevitable 'liberal media' argument* Nice pictures. It's the same with everything though - only bad stuff gets reported. A few weekends ago I and a few friends helped clean up a (frankly digustingly) rundown council estate, as part of an outreach project. That didn't make the news. What did make the news is that some kids from the same estate broke into the local newsagency while we were doing it. Only bad stuff ever gets reported, only good stuff.
  21. No! I liked that small sense of ownership. It reminded me that I'd actually paid for my system, rather than just being owned by Microsoft. At least they're finally admitting their stance: that we are all just slaves, and any peronal information entered on a windows PC is automatically owned by Microsoft Corporation. Personally, I think the biggest loss is the removal of pie charts to show how much disk space is used - now they're bars. That just looks stupid.
  22. I saw that eariler. I though that the letters he wrote were from before he was Pope, when he was still a cardinal. I'm not gonna bother with that. I never though Benedict was any good. First he says 'I want ot unify all Christians', then he says 'Any service thats not in Latin is a step backwards'. The guy is a nutcase. Meh, he's only a temporary anyway. The cardinals didn't think they were ready for anyone young and radical yet, so they stuck an old man who's gonna die soon in to give them some time to think. It's all politics. His statement is also based on a dodgy philosophy that everyone has a form of Christianity living inside them, which can either be quashed or mature into a full blown faith. It'sa stupid idea, as it disregards everything the bible says about the Holy Spirit. So I don't tend to trust much on what Benedict says.
  23. I REMEMBER HIM! That pic was brilliant! :P From what I remember of childrens programs (thinks like Blue Peter and such), hedgehogs natural diets are slugs and snails. Well, my garden path seems to be snail highway at night, I'm that'll keep him more than entertained!
  24. Hmm, I've been away from this article for a while, been undertaking a little research. Having noticed the link at the beginning of this post, I went to mugglenet or whatever it is, and read every single editorial article. Plus all 5 books so far. I am now as clued up as I can possibly be. So here are a few points: I refuse to believe Harry is done with Cho, because... well, he's just not, damn it! He probably is, and I guess I'll have to accept it. But I think the happiest end to the summer (when Harry leaves Privet Drive) would be because Cho invites him on a holiday with her, and Harry goes, then dumps her. It would certainly make me feel better. Cho's a stupid girl (all that bloody crying). No girl I know could cry that much about anything, and they've been through some serious stuff. Yes, I get far too attached to the charatcers (happens in every book I read, do NOT get me started on Animorphs. I love kids books :D) Trust me, the movies no nothing about future plot lines, they just read off the book. Or at least, they did in the first one. I was only involved in the second one for 2 days, and not involved in the 3rd one at all. JKR might be slipping them a few secrets, but I never heard of it. The only major difference I can see is the change of Trawleny's prophesy (3rd book/film). The film makes it clear that it's Pettigrew its about, while the book has some abiguity, leaving some readers to say it refers to Barty Crouch Jr (in hindsight of course). I'm not too sure JKR invests quite that much time into her books though. Something big is gonna happen to Dumbledore in HBP. Either he does something dodgy (as mentioned earlier), or he's gonna die. Lets face it, he's the Ben Kenobi of Harry Potter. I think he's gonna die saving Harry, so that Harry can become stronger and fight voldemort in the 7th book. It will either be Harry's fault (acted stupid like in OotP), or Dumbledores fault (did something dodgy, either deliberately, or miscalculated with a spell or something. Maybe he removes that ban on apparating inside Hogwarts by accident). Anyway, something big happens with Dumbledore. We get loads more back story. There is so much we don't know about Snape. Why the heck hasn't he got the Defense Against the Dark Arts (DADA) job? Ever? What made Snape quit the Death Eaters before Voldemort failed? What was the task he did over the summer between 4/5 (and even 5/6)? We don't know. We know there's going to be a new Minister of Magic, JKR admitted it. So who's it gonna be? Oh, and if Dumbledore doesn't die, Neville will. Confirming once and for all that the Prophesy is about Harry. I am officially retracting my idea that Neville will ultimately kill Voldemort - that fact that the prophesy states that only Harry has the power to kill the Dark Lord kinda made that clear (this is what I see when I re read the books ;)) My only problem: I don't get to read it. My cousin is having her 18th tomorrow, and clever old me is driving down, staying over, and driving back the next day. Knowing me, I won't be safe enough to drive back home until Mid-afternoon (leave a minimum of 12 hours, or 1 hour per unit of alchohol drunk, which ever is longer), so I'll have to wait until Sunday to get my copy, by which time most have you will have finished. Stupid cousin. So I don't want to see any spoilers (at least in the titles anyway), as I'll probably be here on the forums come saturday evening, wishing that I'd pre-ordered my copy in a 24 hour tescos, rather than the local bookshop which closes at 5.30pm  So while the rest of you are thinking '24 hours to go', I'm thinking 'at least 48 hours to go....stupid cousin'.
  25. Sin leads to gratification? Maybe in the short term, but long term, it's a world of hurt. Rape is a sin. Maybe we should rape those satanists. I'm sure they love being gratified! Murder is a sin, I wonder how they'll enjoy being dead. I'd go into the whole thing, talking about how Satanical worship works, using evidence from ex-satanists, but then I'd just get flamed. I do have one thing to day. One of my friends used to be a satanist (to be more precise, a witch, but of a satanist convent). I am a Christian (I know, I keep odd company). After a while, she was about to be promoted in rank. For whatever reason (I don't actually remember why), myself and two friends walked past the common land they were performing the ceremony on. Apparently, our heads were on fire. The witches scattered, afraid of the power within us. My friend has since abandoned witchdom, as what is the point of gaining power through that when God has granted me more power, without sacfricing my blood?
