Waterfiends for Experts (88+ Summoning)
Thanks for the verification, Inuashakent. Here's what I just came back with after a 40 minute trip (took 15 instead of 14 p pots and stretched things a bit by conserving prayer better.) (Look! A picture! Now my guide score will go up! :P)

Runescape HD/Full Screen - What will F2P Get?
Graphic doesn't seem like a feature that should be member... Why?

Runescape HD/Full Screen - What will F2P Get?
I was P2P, i got 5 gaming areas ruined. But i accepted it and adapted. And you unsubscribed. But now you still want members' features? Sorry, doesn't work that way. Stop trying to have your cake and eat it too. If you want members' features, pay for membership. This isn't rocket surgery. Ads actually do pay money, let me give you an example. I've been running ad-supported web site for 10 years. They pay money, but not very much, and certainly nowhere near the equivalent of $5 per player per month. Most of the ads on RS are garbage like "zwinkies" and so forth. Those ads pay a pittance.

Runescape HD/Full Screen - What will F2P Get?
Sport, your whining about what F2P gets from the new update *is* this entire thread. ;) As for when you were or weren't F2P -- who cares? It's a monthly subscription -- if you want the features that you have to pay for, then pay for them.

Why does everyone hate F2P?
Strange concept for a thread. You ask why people dislike F2Pers, then threaten to report anyone who tells you? Sorry that you feel persecuted, but there really are entirely valid reasons why F2Pers are disliked. 1. They tend to be younger and more immature than members, overall, because kids are more likely to be unable or unwilling to pay. Sorry if that offends anyone, but it's simply true. 2. The "disposable" nature of free accounts means more people use them for spamming and other types of antisocial behavior. 3. Too many F2Pers act like spoiled brats who, rather than being grateful that they get to play a good game for free, act like they are entitled to this or that, or whine that it's "not fair" that they don't get updates that they aren't even contributing to the cost of programming. As for respect, that's earned -- it's not a right. Finally, your comparison to "being black in the 1950s" is insulting and stupid. Nobody can help their color, but most F2Pers *can* pay to support the game and get the features they want -- they simply don't want to. Choose your priorities and live with the consequences.

Runescape HD/Full Screen - What will F2P Get?
I say so, but what right do you have to decide what "should" be P2P and what "shouldn't" be? Your not Jagex. I wait until they announce it. Um, you seem to be very confused. You are the one getting a free ride and whining that it isn't good enough for you. Not me. Not really, but if someone jumps off a bridge. I wouldn't do the same. Nice cliche'. Perhaps you should save it for a context in which it has some relevance. ;)

Runescape HD/Full Screen - What will F2P Get?
Your to stubborn, even though your arguments is some i stand for too. Huh? If what I said was right, how am I being "stubborn"? But i disagree with you about Graphical update+ sounds and other graphical additions. That should never be P2P in anygame. "Should".. says who? Jagex made the game. Jagex decided to let freeloaders play it for years, completely free. What right do you have to decide what "should" be P2P and what "shouldn't" be? Atleast Jagex would be a company people liked, their princips and their game. But hey that's how id run a game. But it's up to Jagex. You don't like Jagex because they've given you years of free gaming and now there's a feature you can't get unless you pay for it? Poor baby. About grateful part, as paying P2P. Jagex with their major updates, ruined 5 areas of my gaming which i liked alot. How grateful must a player be... You should be grateful that you get to play a good game that is regularly updated while you *pay nothing*. The more you complain, the more you look like a spoiled little kid whining that Mom won't buy him the fancy pair of running shoes.

Runescape HD/Full Screen - What will F2P Get?
But as i said, in every game i have played, ive not seen any restrictions to Graphical+sounds and additions. Even though the game was limited or something. Yes. So? This is how Jagex chooses to do things. You should be grateful for what you do have. My son started playing World of Warcraft a few months ago when he got bored of RS. He got to play for free for 10 days or something -- that's it. Then it was pay up or forget it. And during that time he was very limited in what he could do. Jagex gives F2Pers a great deal, and in return some of them seem to think the company owes them something. It does not.

SirHemen, think about what you're saying when you write "that's not fair to the F2P players." Fairness implies an exchange of value. But here you are already getting something for nothing -- F2Pers play for free. (And don't bother telling me about the stupid ads, because we all know they are mostly ignored, and they don't pay Jagex much anyway.) So if you are paying nothing, what obligation does Jagex have to provide you with updates and special features? What's "unfair" about this?
-
Runescape HD/Full Screen - What will F2P Get?
Well, then that's Jagex's decision to make from a business perspective. Regardless, the people who are getting the free game are owed nothing, deserve nothing, and have no right to complain about anything. Remember that they *could* make it a time-limited demo like most other games are.

Members-only beta: A cheap sign-up shot?
F2P players complaining about not getting HD is like someone being given a free steak dinner and then complaining about not getting dessert. Welcome to the real world, kids: nobody owes you anything. You should be damned glad Jagex gives you F2P at all.

Waterfiends for Experts (88+ Summoning)
I wrote a long reply but I removed it. Let me summarize this simply: Don't knock it til you've tried it. I am not saying this is the only way or the best way to do this. It IS the fastest way. If you don't like it, fine, but please don't declare it "pointless" or make up nonsense about it because I guarantee you have not tried as many methods as I have to kill waterfiends. :)
-
Waterfiends for Experts (88+ Summoning)
your debate techniques are always 'on'. Well, I posted a guide that I think some people will be useful, and you barged in and called it "pointless". Did you expect me not to reply? :P i can tell you now, leveling summoning isnt that hard for those people that dont mind training combat. Of course it's not hard -- if you want to do it slow. The faster you want to do it, the more difficult (or expensive) it becomes. you title the post with "for experts" posturing yourself so that if someone says hey that's no good, you can say well it's not for everyone... :) No, I said the method is for experts because.. it's for experts. You need to be familiar with how to get to and fight waterfiends and how to stay alive while Dharoking something with two attack types. You also need high skill levels and 88 Summoning. about the banking thing, dont underestimate that. you do get distracted and i suggest people stay down there AS LONG AS YOU CAN POSSIBLY STAY DOWN THERE. because going back IS actually a huge pain. Yesterday you said "even if you do get hit and eat you can easily bank and come back. what's the big deal." You seem confused. anyway, you're taking 14 4 dose prayer pots and lasting 36 minutes? it doesnt sound to me like you're getting that many more charms per hour anyway. you may want to save those prayer pots and use piety and karil's. but whatever. Seems to me you are talking out of your hat (to put it politely). My guess is you've never even tried this method, but that didn't stop you calling it "pointless". There are lots of methods, and I really don't care which one you like to use -- have fun however you wish. But those who want to kill them as fast as possible and have the skill levels to do this technique should consider it. It takes about 22,000 crimson charms to get from 88 to 99. With conventional methods that's almost 300 hours of camping at waterfiends -- with this method it is a little over 200. That's a lot of time saved. And as I said before, the method isn't that expensive anyway, because the fiends have good drops. You kill them faster so you get more water orbs, mith arrows and so forth. Finally, since you are killing them faster, you also get more XP per hour.

Waterfiends for Experts (88+ Summoning)
It's simple, Vincent: I can buy prayer pots. I cannot buy charms. With this technique you get more charms than any other method in the game other than spending 1M+ an hour ice barraging rock lobsters. And if anyone saw me there with Karil's, well, I try lots of methods. This one is definitely the fastest.

There's nothing to take pictures of here. It's information about an advanced technique; if you need pictures, it's not for you anyway. ;)

Waterfiends for Experts (88+ Summoning)
Note: This is not a "comprehensive guide" -- it is intended for high-level players who already know how to fight waterfiends. So.. no background blah blah and no pictures. I've tried a lot of different things to find the best way to fight waterfiends, even venturing into the suicide zone (the multicombat waterfiends room) and this is the best I've come up with. WARNING: This is an advanced and dangerous method. Don't attempt if you aren't comfortable with Dharoking dangerous critters, or if you are distracted or lagging. Requirements: - Very high melee combat skills (95+) - Very high Magic (90+) - High prayer (80+, higher is better) - Level 88 Summoning - Low risk aversion Equipment: - Full Dharoks - Fury - Skillcape - "Barrows" gloves - Dragon boots - Berserker ring (Substitute a ring of life until you get used to the method!) Supplies: - One-click teleport (MANDATORY! I use a House teletab) - Unicorn stallion pouch - 50 or so Healing aura scrolls - 1 4-dose super set - 10 sets of alching runes - 14 4-dose prayer potions - Holy wrench - 4 pieces of good food (I use pineapple pizzas, sharks are fine) Starting: 1. Bank at the Grand Tree. Load all your stuff up, run to the whirlpool and jump in. 2. Put your weapon on "crush", turn on Protection from Magic and go downstairs. Run south and then west to the second waterfiend area. Run well past the green dragon area, towards the back of the waterfiends' zone. 3. Put on Protection from Ranged and Piety. Summon the unicorn stallion and start fighting, taking the first dose of super set between hits. Combat tips: - Use the unicorn's scrolls for your primary healing. Reserve at least one piece of food (either brought or one of the sharks the waterfiends drop) for emergencies. - Do not go below 20 HP. It really doesn't make that much difference in terms of damage done, overall, but it's quite risky to get too low on these guys, especially since the unicorn scroll has a short delay before it activates. - If you run out of food, keep your HP higher than normal by using scrolls when the special bar is full even if you are above 20 HP. I sometimes go up to 50 HP, don't worry, it won't last long. - Watch your prayer and drink p pot sips regularly -- you'll use them up fast and if your prayer runs out, you are toast. - Take drops as you have room for them, concentrating on stackables. You can alch between hits if you time it right. - If you are unlucky you might run out of food and spec bar. If so, hit the one-click tele and come back again, it's not worth dying over. Results: - For me each trip lasts about 36 minutes during which I get 80 to 85 kills. This works out to 130 to 140 kills per hour, not including banking and prep time, or 115 to 125 kills per hour with banking and prep time. - You get a charm nearly every kill, about 80-85% of them crimsons. So you can get 100+ crimsons an hour. - This method is expensive in supplies used, but you get back a fair amount of what you spend in drops. It is about 60% as fast as Ice Barraging rock lobsters (in terms of Summoning XP gained in charms) and costs 5% as much per hour to do.

Tip.It Times Presents: Functionality vs. Flash
Most of the people criticizing Das's article seem to have one thing in common: they keep saying why this graphical update is "important" or "needed" but they never say *why* or *how*. How does this improve gameplay or make RS more fun to play? What some don't realize is that eye candy is something that impresses only for a short time. When the new graphics arrive everyone will go "ooh" and "aah" and a month later you'll get used to them and they won't really seem that big a deal any more. And you'll be back to doing hour after hour of boring activities while having prettier backgrounds to look at while you sit there bored.
-
Tip.It Times Presents: Functionality vs. Flash
Agreed with the article 100%. In fact, I said this the day they previewed this new graphical update -- only to get flamed by childish people who don't understand that gameplay is what makes RS great, not pretty pixels. They devote far too many resources to graphics and not enough to updating content that's been stale for years.

"weird" slayer tasks
Eek, people cancel waterfiend tasks? I should be so lucky. :) You know, it would not at all be difficult for Jagex to keep track of your last five (or whatever) assignments and have them not be assigned again. Why they refuse to do this is beyond me.

Most Efficient Methods of Summoning?
Nice idea, but you do realize that using 12,000 or whatever blue charms would be a bit like planning to get 99 Crafting by making furies? :)

Charm droppers
Why post then if you aren't willing to help people with good spots LOL? I'm at mith dragons atm, it's pretty decent. Is that some chaos tunnel ice giants/ice warriors :-k ? Sadly not... (The picaxe was from earlier, was mining Iron ore cos of GE being well, stupid). It's really not nice to tease people, and even worse to deceive them. I am pretty sure where you did this. The pickaxe is for getting past the rubble on the way to the ice cave, where he set up a cannon on the ice warriors near the ice queen. I recognize the ratio of charm drops, the cannon is there and the pick is a dead giveaway.

16 January 2008 - Summoning balancing
30 seconds after I loaded the first Summoning KB page for the first time I said to myself, "hoo boy, they are going to have a LOT of confused kiddies with this." BTW, if the pouches are so valuable, why did some idiot assign them giveaway prices on the GE?

If Charms 'were' tradeable would you buy them?
By taking their time and being smart.
-
If Charms 'were' tradeable would you buy them?
If they were tradeable, yous till could get them yourself if you want to... I really hope they become tradeable, or that Jagex makes an easier way to get them. And I really hope they don't. It's about time we had a good skill you couldn't buy with money ror no-life to 99 in a week.
-
If Charms 'were' tradeable would you buy them?
I'd have 50M xp banked or more by now to be honest. (at least 99) And that's why they're untradeable.
