  1. Having trouble following the conversation I see. Um, YOU were the one who said "everyone" benefited from cheaper goods. And I pointed out that "everyone" did not. The macroers only dropped the prices of a small basket of goods, and there were definite losers as a result of their actions. The claim that bots did things others didn't want to do is pure BS. Indeed. Let me know when you decide to finally learn some.
  2. Right... we all know that nobody ever tried to fish sharks in the Fishing Guild... and those poor, lonely yew trees just had NO woodcutters wanting to give them some attention. What an idiotic analogy. Cheap supplies are good for consumers, but not for producers. The flood of macroers made it very difficult for those who actually want to be productive players to ply their skills. Oh, and one other small thing -- they were CHEATERS. I know that doesn't matter to amoral people who can't discern right from wrong, but it does to the rest of us.
  3. Remington -- you're replying to a forum troll who is incapable of telling right from wrong. He even thinks Hitler was only evil because he was portrayed that way by his enemies. You'll never get anywhere with him, trust me.
  4. Personally, I think Jagex just has its collective hands full right now dealing with all the recent changes, tweaks, etc. My educated guess is that they are working on a suite of related changes to be implemented simultaneously in late Dec / early Jan that will plug the loophole your friend used and many others. In the meantime they are just ignoring minor infractions like these because they are busy.
  5. I'm not going to call you or your friend liars, but sorry, something here is not adding up. Given the limitations currently in place, while I can see the possibility of a loophole being found, I cannot see how your friend could have exploited it without knowing how it works. Edit: I forgot that he gave them access to his account. It was almost certainly a GE-related exploit, and it will be plugged. Even if not, anyone doing this is asking to be banned.
  6. If your friend did it, then your friend probably knows. A chemical company that poisons groundwater and covers it up is evil. A medical practice that cuts corners on proper treatment to save money is evil. These people are just cheats. They are arguably commiting intellectual property offenses, but in some parts of the world these concepts aren't held in the same esteem as they are in the west.
  7. Is there some reason you're not sharing what this "way around" is that they've discovered? My bet is that it has to do with a pricing flaw in the GE. Jagex knows about these and will plug them, though their refusal to allow markets to freely float will always create arbitrage opportunities.

They were supposed to be fun items, based on the intentions of those who created them. What you personally think of them doesn't matter. Why is it sad? That's what happens when you have rare items in short supply that newcomers can't easily obtain. Prove where they were supposed to be so-called "fun" items. It's quoted right in the first post of this article. And it was also said when they announced the end of tradable holiday drops. Reading comprehension isn't your strong suit, hmm? :wall:

Uh huh. Takes two to tango. How about the greed of old players who sold these fun items for a profit?

I can only imagine how disappointing it must have been for Gower & Co to have to watch their generous gesture be abused by greedy and selfish players.
  12. Jagex has not made any secret of the fact that they are not done with implementing anti-RWT measures. The trade changes for one. So why are people freaking out that some RWTers are still in business? Be patient.
  13. They are behaving the way most big corporations do. The sad thing is the number of players who treat them like a beloved parent or teacher, when they are anything but.
  14. Solidus - I guess we disagree on the magnitude of the changes they are proposing. 3k to 30k is not much, and the GE sounds like rather than being freed up as it should be, it will be put under the thumbs of an unresponsive bureaucracy. I am not looking forward to Jan 2.
  15. Yawn. Jagex must really love how easy to please some of its customers are. "Nothing is good enough"? Please. What's good enough for me is when someone is honest, and does their best. That's all I ask.... treat me with respect, be honest, and do the best you can. Has Jagex done their best over the last two weeks? Certainly not. Might they improve in the future? I'm hopeful, but that doesn't negate the giant mess that they made so far. I'm not going to jump for joy just because a week after someone takes a major dump in the middle of the street, they announce that they'll spray air freshener around to lessen the stench. And as I said before, Jagex has a HORRIBLE record for following through with tweaks to updates. Doesn't the fishing trawler STILL have freeloaders on it, and a net that dumps all your fish on the floor if your inventory is full?
  16. And thank goodness for that. I think Jagex can do a lot better at making unsafe PvP than what that morass had turned into.
  17. That would be true, except that 99% of them aren't actually jumping, they are standing at the window whining about how they are going to jump, hoping people will beg them not to.
  18. The amount of time needed for this is a tiny fraction of a second. Jagex finds it easier to lie to its customers than be honest with them and risk them being unhappy. This pattern has been repeated countless times, especially in the last year.
  19. Good! Look, I'm not trying to offend you, but it SHOULD be annoying when you DIE. Because if it isn't, the dungeon is too easy. Simple solution: don't die.
  20. Don't be. If someone is that impulsive this will serve as a lesson to them. Agreed. All the reasonable people have been saying "be patient" since this started.
  21. Actually, it supports the contention that they did this because they felt they had to.
  22. This has been posted many times before. The answer is always the same: NO company deliberately drives off customers from a successful product thinking that will make them more likely to sign up for a new one. Never. Ever.
  23. I'm sure I'll get flamed for this but... I 100% agree that the matter of sharing loot from boss drops is a problem that Jagex needs to fix. I wrote about it the day of the update last week, and Jagex has said they are going to deal with it. Fine. But all the whining about how "difficult" the gravestones make things for boss hunters -- that I do not get. For years people have been complaining that bosses were too easy.. we were treated to videos of players beating Jad using rubber chickens and so forth. Now, some of the changes make bosses a little harder and everyone freaks out? If you go with a team you have a full hour to go back and get ALL of your stuff if you die. That's a hell of a lot better than we had it a year ago when dying at a boss. So why all the complaining?
  24. No it's not. It might say that, but it's not. Yep. This is one of Jagex's many "little white lies". It's complete nonsense. It was put in there to slow down world hopping, period.
  25. Many of those ideas sound.. familiar. :D Glad to see they are planning to take action. The GE changes should be done before they cut off trading, though.
