They said those were things they were working on, these things take time. Monster hunting takes a bit of time. Fixing lending takes longer. Fixing the GE? Bullpucky! They've known about these wrong prices and bugs for WEEKS!- Unbalanced Trade Removal / Dealing with Scabaras
You can thank Jagex's top notch software QA team for that... the update doesn't work.- Unbalanced Trade Removal / Dealing with Scabaras
It had better be next month or the RS economy is in BIG trouble. It already is. They just shut down trade on a LOT of items. How much effort does it take to edit a few prices? The GEshould have been fixed BEFORE they took out its alternative. Ridiculous.- Unbalanced Trade Removal / Dealing with Scabaras
I can't believe they did this and didn't change the GE. Strike that.. I CAN believe it.- What will happen to world 2 and forums?
Unless this change comes with dramatic updates to the GE as well, you won't be nearly as happy as you think you will be.. because some items will now be impossible to buy or sell.- Deflation about to kick in again?
Well, it is if you enjoy losing money and being bored. ;) 65k xp an hour whilst I watch TV and less than 2gp per xp has always seemed pretty good to me. Got a better way? :P Lots of ways. I got up to 94 alching pretty much nothing except monster drops. In general, I'd rather superheat ores or mage monsters with decent drops. I almost never waste money on training when it's not necessary.- The Underrated Godsword
Well, I respect the points made but I think it really comes down to how you play. I personally don't find the ZGS spec useful for much at all except in CW. BTW, regarding the "tactic is unknown up to the release of this guide", sorry to tell you but people (including myself) have been using the ZGS+Hally trick since September.- Deflation about to kick in again?

+16 defense won't save you from a level 99 barrager, let's just put it that way :( +8 Ranged attack can be made up by using Ranger boots or Archer Ring. Heck, with the 40M you're paying, even using diamond(e) 100% of the time seems reasonable. That's a rather bizarre counterargument... ranger boots and archer rings can be used *with* the Armadyl armor. That's the entire point. Thanks for the other replies too!- Deflation about to kick in again?
Jagex has already said that they are going to adjust the floor prices on items when they update the GE. So this entire thread is basically moot.- RuneScape 2007 Year in Review and Report Card
Thanks again to everyone for their kind words and feedback. Just replying to a few points here... Ah, see, I virtually never waste money on training, so it makes it easier to afford good gear. :D Why would you use magic attacks wearing melee armor? It's not intended for that purpose. Duels are far too much dependent on luck, like all combat. Um... "melee duels and monster hunting" is a very big chunk of this game. lol What weapon would you say is better, overall, for tough opponents? And it's not a whip, that's for sure (too weak.) It's not the raw value of the items that matters, it's the fact that they are there automatically and don't take up any space. Consider.. a tuna costs 100 gp and a lobster 200 gp. why do people pay double for 2 extra HP? Same with monkfish versus sharks versus mantas. Time is money. Depends on the duel. In an armor-on duel it is very hard to get a consistent hit with the ZGS and so the spec is wasted. In a food-off, potions-off duel the SGS is fantastic. Let's look at the numbers. Full Armadyl: +63 Ranged attack, +82 Slash defence, +120 Magic defence, +3 Prayer Karils top and bottom with robin hood hat: +55 Ranged attack, +68 Slash defence, +104 Magic defence, 0 Prayer You seriously consider an additional +8 Ranged attack and a whopping +16 extra magic defence "negligible"? Not me! :) And the prayer bonus is nice too.- Dark Beast Slaying Guide
Yes, most people feel the same way. :) Actually I list the prayer book as an option but the rune defender is the best choice. Hmm.. interesting point I hadn't considered, thanks. They have poor defence so I almost always just go for all prayer gear and didn't weigh that option.- RuneScape 2007 Year in Review and Report Card
Well, it really depends on what you do in the game. Most of my combat is on Slayer assignments and against high-level monsters. In these situations, inventory space management and stats are important. Being able to save several slots on Guthans pieces, food and prayer pots is a big deal. So is the ability to do a whole assignment without banking. A few comments on the SGS versus Guthans: 1. They aren't mutually exclusive; you can use them together. The SGS doesn't replace the Guthan spear, which is a secondary weapon, it replaces your whip or other primary weapon. 2. You can use the SGS with a black mask when training Slayer; you can't use Guthans with the black mask. 3. Guthans is slow. The SGS is not. It makes a big difference in how long it takes to kill monsters. 4. With many monsters, even though you can use the SGS and Guthans, if you have the SGS you don't need the Guthan set. This immediately saves two inventory slots. 5. There are lots of monsters and places where you either can't use Guthans or it is not practical: Banshees, Dust Devils, Abberrant Spectres, Bloodvelds, Jellies, Infernals, Dark Beasts, etc. 6. Here are the relevant stats of full Guthans compared to a godsword with a Verac helm, Guthan plate and Verac skirt: Guthans: +75 Slash, +75 Strength, 0 Prayer, +259/+257/+241/-11/+276 Defence. Godsword/Verac/Guthan combo: +132 Slash, +132 Strength, +15 Prayer, +262/+260/+244/-6/+272 Defence. Not even close. 7. Even if you don't need to use protection prayers, the extra prayer points let you use boost prayers to speed up combat even more.- RuneScape 2007 Year in Review and Report Card
Thanks for the replies, everyone. And of course I expect many people to agree and some to disagree, all par for the course. Artificial: Thanks, but I'm not in favor of PKing as it was before returning to the game. I'd rather Jagex fix up the new minigames. sithlord_man: Trying to give a bit of benefit of the doubt on the honesty issue. Sseli: Most of your issues seem to be with my high ratings for expensive, powerful items. I realize that they aren't for everyone, but for those who can afford them they are extremely useful. What's wrong with there being expensive items in the game? It gives something tangible and useful for people to spend their money on, instead of blowing it all on inefficient skill training or bidding up the prices on useless paper hats. The DFS is a fantastic piece of gear as it provides dragon protection, huge defence bonuses, a big +7 strength and an offensive weapon to boot! The DFS discharge isn't something you use all the time, but it is certainly useful in some situations, like at the Barrows. And it doesn't even count as an attack. As for the godsword.. I have extensively tested and there are few situations where Veracs is better. Plus, you can use the GS with better body armor (the brassard is poor in that regard) or even with dragonhides. Compare a whip and a godsword at a place like the aberrant specters.. it's not even close. The Saradomin godsword is the single best weapon in the game. You really don't seem to realize what the SGS can do. Can purple sweets restore 400+ HP and the equivalent of 6 or more doses of prayer pot in an hour? I don't think so. They don't restore prayer, they take forever to use and they're very expensive. The SGS spec even works in no-food, no-potion duels. The Zamorak special has only two uses: freezing flagholders in CW, and the "spec+hally" trick in duels. That's it. The Armadyl armor is the best in the game, even better than third age -- of COURSE it's expensive. :) Will: I block them all the time but they're like cockroaches. :wall: :wall:- RuneScape 2007 Year in Review and Report Card

Drops obtained during Slayer assignments. If you want to raise magic, why not find a less boring and wasteful method?- The usages of Mixes?
I can save you the trouble. They restore around 10% prayer per dose; I used them just yesterday. Note that the Tip.It item guide mentions this, but the Herblore guide does not. Zamorak brew mixes seem like a useful idea, but are of little value, IMO, because in most situations where you care about your HP you also care about your defence level. If you are using prayer you can just use the Zammy brew and let your HP restore naturally. The mix potions are useful for monsters that hit hard and where you don't stay for a long time between banking runs. Specifically, I use prayer and antifire mixes extensively in my mithril dragon techniques. I've also used super attack and super strength mixes.- Dark Beast Slaying Guide
I've just written and posted on my site an extensive guide to killing dark beasts. It's much too long to duplicate here, but I thought some of you might find it an informative read (although I realize that dark beasts are out of the reach of most players.) Comments welcomed.- This will make you think.
The gold sites started advertising power leveling the day after the changes were announced, so no news there. As to $4 a day, it depends on context, what the alternatives are, and what things cost as well. What's the point anyway? That Jagex should allow its game to be corrupted by cheaters because they only make $4 a day? Rather silly argument.- This will make you think.
I don't understand what the point of this thread is, to be honest. Nearly everyone already knows what the deal is with gold farmers. I can understand that Chinese gold farmers don't really care that they are breaking Jagex's rules.. but at the same time, I don't get why people fall for the baloney sob stories about how these folks are just doing what they need to do. They aren't. The real ones to blame aren't the gold farmers anyway. They are the rich Westerners who provide the demand for their supply.- Blast Furnace More Profitable Than Ever!!! (Warning: math)
Based on some quick calcs, my guess is that you can do better superheating addy... but it would be close.- Blast Furnace More Profitable Than Ever!!! (Warning: math)
I can do some tests. I'm not convinced that this is a better option than certain other methods... but it *could* be.- Blast Furnace More Profitable Than Ever!!! (Warning: math)
How much time does it take to get that 1600 smithing XP? My problem with the blast furnace has always been simply that I can get faster XP in other ways. - Unbalanced Trade Removal / Dealing with Scabaras
