  1. It goes from 100 to 75 to 50 to 25 to 0. Repair when it hits 25.
  2. Triforceelf, I don't think anyone actually thinks they "own" their accounts. Saying "my account" is a shorthand reference to the account that a person spends time building. The problem isn't that Jagex owns the accounts, the problem is that sometimes they take away the accounts WITHOUT reasonable proof that a person has violated the terms of service.
  3. Roberthree.. okay, here are my comments and suggestions. Two main observations: 1. You are taking too long to do each run. 2. You are bringing with way too much specialty equipment. What many people who Barrows for money don't realize is the importance of the "time is money" equation. They focus on saving prayer pots or using the cheapest food or whatnot but do not look at the reward side of the equation: the faster you do a run the more rewards you get, and the rewards are so good that they pay for any costs you incur in doing the trips. My main recommendation would be to try something completely different: give my single run Ultimate Power Barrows method a try. You should be high enough level to do this without too much difficulty. If you want to modify your existing methods, my suggestions: 1. Start using Sara brews, super restores, super attacks and super strengths. They make a world of difference. 2. Ditch the Torags, it really doesn't help you much at all. Bring with Veracs or at least monks' robes to wear when you are maging with prayer, on Dharok and Verac. 3. Forget about ranging Ahrim, you are wasting slots on extra equipment. Fight him using DDS specs, with enhancement prayers. He dies very quickly. 4. A kill count of 12 is sufficient for the best rewards. I've tested this extensively. 5. Consider a "Verac avoidance" technique. Simply put.. never go into his tomb, always fight him in a safespot in the tunnels by flushing him out. It makes things a little slower but saves a lot of hassle. 6. Don't be afraid to use p pot doses if you need them and if they speed up your trips. 7. Use super energy pots when needed so you don't waste time walking.
  4. You obviously didn't bother reading this short thread before letting your knees start jerking, hmm? ;)
  5. There is no point debating such topics here. The vast majority of Humans are unable to think in scientific terms. Instead they are trained to think only in emotional terms. This applies to scientists as well as laymen, unfortunately, and that is why sensitive topics are always colored by propaganda. That is why the burden of proof always falls on those who question propaganda. That is why such propaganda will be defended with the fanaticism of religious dogma. (edit: see that bigm person above - personal attack against the author as the only basis to defend his truth) Friedrich Nietzsche once said, ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Åfaith means not wanting to know what is true,̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ
  6. I saw a RuneScape "manual" at a book fair at my daughter's school. The next day, she said she saw kids reading it on the bus. She told them, "Hey, I play that game!" They were like, "Woah, they have a game of this?" Ding! We have a winner. It was Jagex's decision to commission, participate in the writing of, and market this book to children that partially prompted me to write that article. (Part of it was also the company's abominable "luring is okay" decision in February, which they backtracked on mere days after my article went up.) Jagex actually has made some strides in the 7 or 8 months since the first article was written, but they have a long way to go.
  7. First of all, what you just said is incorrect. A person under 13 cannot make a NEW account, but there are thousands and thousands of accounts that were made by under-13's before Jagex put in that relatively recent rule. Many of the players of those accounts are still under 13, and Jagex has never made any attempt to claim that they were "illegal" or in fact said anything about them at all. Second, if Jagex only wants those over 13 to create accounts, then why do they market the game to elementary school students? Edit: insertmynamehere, this isn't on Wikipedia. I wrote the article.
  8. Well, I'm glad that you have the ability to boil things down in your mind to such black-and-white absolutes. Out here in the real world, it's not so simple. Responsibility rests on my shoulders, but that does not absolve others from their responsibilities. A company that makes a product intended for those over 13 should not be both marketing it towards children under 13 *and* turning a blind eye when they know very well that thousands upon thousands of kids under 13 play their game. Oh, but you see -- they can't. There are laws against it in just about every modern country, including yours. (Yes, I get the musical reference. ;) ) It was an analogy, because Jagex does all of the things I mentioned. Your silly vasectomy rhetoric notwithstanding, you're going to discover sooner, if not later, that you cannot be there to watch your kids and what they do 100% of the time. ~q
  9. Thanks, Triforceelf. Tell me, folks.. if tobacco companies deliberately advertised to children, made it possible for children to smoke in schools, sold books to help kids start smoking, and made free cigarettes available to kids, would they share any blame for kids becoming smokers, or would it only fall on the parents?
  10. ego, I said hours ago that I was done arguing with you. Since that time I've only posted in this thread a one line compliment to Ceblue, and an image without text. In that same interval, you have brought me up in NINE different posts. Who's the one "stalking" here? Please knock it off already. :wall:
  11. I'm the author of that article (and another in the same series.) They were both discussed months ago here (and in other places), though I guess we could do it again. http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=634393 ~q
  12. Why spend 4 hours making 1 million when you can spend 4 hours making twice as much money AND gaining over 125k XP for your skills?
  13. Ceblue, I'm done with this thread but did want to take a moment to tip my hat to you for some of the most thoughtful posts I've seen around here in some time. =D>
  14. Thanks. Jordan's guide is also very good, and again, this isn't a competition -- more ideas and guides is better than fewer. :)
  15. The giant mole is one of the best ways to get allotment seeds.
  16. Alright, I really resisted playing this trump card, but since it appears nothing else will get you to give up your credentials obsession, here go. I began learning about economics in the late 1970s and investing in the mid-1980s. I have an MBA-equivalent Master's degree in Management from the #4 rated US graduate business school (it's called "MIT", have you heard of it?). I have been online and involved in economic and business analysis and discussion for over 15 years. I began my first online business in 1997 -- when many big companies weren't even online -- and I now run six different ones. In contrast you have... a big mouth and a bunch of pixillated paper hats that you could have easily gotten as gifts anyway. In the game, I have enough money to easily buy a party hat, alch it and have it not affect my gameplay whatsoever. If I wanted more money than that, I could have billions by now, as I have tired merchanting in the past and easily made 20 to 50 million a day. I simply don't see any practical purpose to lots of money, since I am not so insecure as to need to show off. Now, perhaps you can stop trying to pretend that you are somehow more qualified and try to actually make reasonable and sensible comments?
  17. Almost certainly false. My guess is that the total value of all the rares in the game is less than 1% of the total "net worth" of the economy. Then you don't understand what the term "backbone of the economy" means. I doubt he would, because it's not true. There is not going to be any "economic collapse" anyway.
  18. No, what makes him right and you wrong is the fact that he uses logical arguments based on sound economic knowledge, while you -- do not. curmudgeony: I think eventually Jagex is going to release a more useful potion for leveling above Sara Brews, at which point Brews are going to go way up in terms of price. They are certainly far more useful than their price implies. ~q
  19. I haven't been playing for 3 years. And guess what.. that same 3 year gap is how you made most of your money (assuming you got the Burger King hats legitimately.) They were worth a LOT more when you got back than they were when you left. Cuts both ways. Well, then why don't you go find some sites that have guides as detailed as mine or that describe, for example, how to get 45k Ranged XP per hour AND make money by cannoning ice trolls? Don't hold your breath. Oh, and if you can try to accuse me of having cheated on my site, guess what.. people can just as easily accuse you of having cheated to get your silly hats. Actually, you've shown quite clearly that you care about people fawning over you a LOT. The question is: why? That's what bragging MEANS. This is becoming truly funny. The real point is that you obsess over RS gold because you feel insecure and need others to recognize your "wealth" and make you feel important. I hope some day you can get past this, and realize how misguided your approach has been. You can have the last word as I am not devoting any more time to this silliness.
  20. I could make a character right now from scratch and have probably 5 million in the bank by the end of the day through merchanting. That's pretty much impossible to do with skilling.
  21. Oh noes! I'm wounded! Quick, let me grab a tuna potato. :D Fascinating! Well, see, the problem is that you are still stuck in your pattern of projecting what YOU consider important, or "superior" or "outplaying" onto others. Here is a comparison of our stats in the game. Do you think you've "outplayed me by a large margin"? You're certainly entitled to your opinion, and it really doesn't matter to me one way or the other. At any rate, I play for fun, not to "accomplish things" or impress others. It's a game, remember? As for "inferiority complexes", a rather obvious sign of someone suffering from one is that they go around bragging about what they have, wanting desperately for others to acknowledge their "superiority" and "accomplishments". Now, which of us does this better describe? But I really couldn't care less what gear you wear. Why would I? You know what they say about people who assume, dude. (Did it ever occur to you to check out the monster guides on my site and wonder how it is that someone so poor was able to write them? I mean, since you're so much more intelligent than me, and all.) Ah... see, here we come to the crux of the issue. It's not about "accomplishment" -- it's about you wanting to get "respect from the mindless masses". But I have to ask... why? Why do you care about this? I certainly don't. Why would I give a fig about "mindless masses" respecting me for having pixel money? Do "mindless" people matter to you? Not to me. Does it really mean anything? Not that I can see. You know, I have never had any problem getting or giving respect to people who deserve it. I can detect a person worthy of respect by how they BEHAVE, not what they wear. Just talking to someone for a few minutes is usually enough to separate the wheat from the chaff. And to me, a level 31 person mining coal who behaves reasonably and can conduct an intelligent discussion is far more worthy of respect than a pompous braggart who prounces around in a Burger King hat watching the "mindless masses" fall at his feet. I can only hope that you don't have things this mixed up in your real life -- though it seems likely that you do. All I need to know about your moral integrity and character has been revealed by your own actions: bragging, obsessing over money, admitting that you take advantage of people, and admitting that you engage in market manipulation. Flattery will get you nowhere. ;) And again, you reveal your real motivation. But what you don't seem to ever be able to understand is that people who are secure in themselves and have their priorities straight don't need to gather a crowd of anonymous children around them to tell them how great they are. You should ask yourself why you feel that you need to do this. ~q
  22. It's not false, I just did it (and reported it).
  23. How so? No one's actually gaining an advantage anywhere... in fact it's probably a disadvantage to train on tutorial island since you can't actually sell to a shop... You don't see an advantage to being able to level mining and smithing in a spot where there are 20 of each ore rock, a furnace and an anvil right next to each other?
  24. Well, groups in which there are a high proportion of idiots tend to be the most disliked. PKers, on the whole, have the highest proportion of idiots and are, again generally, more despised by the overall population than any other group. The "merchant class" has a good proportion of people who are greedy, rude and who like to show off, so people look down on them as well. Again, to the extent that those people do those things, they are also disliked. The claim that merchants are solely responsible for prices going up or down is false, but so is the claim that they have nothing to do with it. The truth is in the middle. A merchant is a middleman. By definition, any profit a merchant makes is money that is taken away from the person he buys from, and the person he eventually sells to. Since merchants spend a lot more time buying and selling, they take advantage of good deals that show up in order to make their profit, and that deprives the end buyer and seller of that money. It's really that simple -- the money doesn't come out of nowhere. As I said early in this thread, those merchants are IMO legitimate, because they are trading their time for money and providing a useful service. It is the ones who just buy things and then flip them for a profit that are not really providing any value to the economy. The point is that you can walk off Tutorial Island and within a day start making millions through merchanting. You can't do that with any other aspect of the game, and that's what a lot of people resent. I never said it made me a better person. I gave it as an example of how the game doesn't revolve around money just because merchants want to think it does.
