  1. And yet you weren't able to figure out for yourself that the story has been widely reported as legitimate by numerous sources. No, that would be due to you being apparently eager to believe that the story was made up, and casting aspersions at her parents with no evidence whatsoever. False. Again, you are not showing yourself to be much of a researcher. Some people are capable of understanding that what happens in one online sphere can have relevance to another. And there HAS been at least one case of a teenager committing suicide due to betrayal in RuneScape.
  2. Because she was pushed over the edge by cyberbullying adults. Perhaps you should re-read the article.
  3. Actually, it appears that YOU have not done any research. The story has been widely reported in multiple outlets. There's no disconnect, except in your understanding of depression and its various forms and manifestations. Are you a medical doctor? Did you examine Megan Meier and talk with her and her parents to determine what medication would be best for her? False, it was investigated. No, what we have in you is another case of someone who wants to make up a conspiracy theory rather than dealing directly with a difficult issue. And you have what evidence, exactly, to support this disgusting accusation? Again - evidence? You're entitled to your opinion, but this one is about as valid as the others to which you have just treated us.
  4. LB.. I appreciate your support but PLEASE can everyone try to remain civil? Remember the point of my article and please don't get this thread locked. Thank you.
  5. ego_scorpion, the "flaws" are not with the story but rather with your understanding of issues ranging from psychology to physics. Look for yourself: The story is real. Please stay on topic or start your own thread. Thank you.
  6. Briefly. They all boil down to "I personally find this hard to believe, so it never happened". They are all nonsense. It was reported in a major newspaper, it's now been picked up by the Associated Press, printed in hundreds of other media outlets and covered by CNN and ABC. If you want to convince yourself that it didn't happen then that's your choice, but it doesn't change anything.
  7. It's rather telling that you felt the need to pepper your comments with all of these disclaimers. If you think the story isn't legitimate, then that just shows that you didn't bother to research it properly. There may be more that comes out about it in the future, as it gains more attention, but it wasn't just made up. It is utterly ridiculous for anyone to make such a claim with absolutely no evidence to back it up. For better or worse, it is human nature to be more concerned about events that hit close to home than ones that affect people thousands of miles away. The fact that people are suffering elsewhere doesn't make this an unimportant issue. Depression is an illness. It cannot be overcome by telling people to 'get over it', nor by berating them as being 'pathetic'. I feel sorry for anyone like yourself, who is so incapable of feeling compassion for others. It will not serve you well in life. ~q
  8. Which applies only to new accounts, and not the tens of thousands (or hundreds of thousands) that were created by preteens before that rule was put into place. As you agreed, it's also Jagex's fault for encouraging them to get interested in the game. And Jagex's fault for putting absolutely no systems in place to stop kids from lying to get an account. All you have to do is say you are 14 and that's it.
  9. This post is supposed to make an impact. Putting it on the RSOF will make a far greater impact than it will here. I'm still debating both if I should and if so, where to do it. Unfortunately, based on what the RSOF have become, I have a hard time convincing myself that posting it there will result in anything but aggravation and disappointment. Plus, it's critical of Jagex; even though it's only one small section and not the focus of the article, it will still likely get deep-sixed by one of their toadies anyway.
  10. If you've never had depression or lived with someone who's had it, then it's easy to judge and to feel disgusted. This isn't something she chose to do or to feel like; it's a disease.
  11. They are. I didn't say it was illegal. I said it was hypocritical and wrong. You aren't making much sense, I'm afraid.
  12. I never get called any of those things. Sure you can. Show that you're more mature by dealing with it like an adult.
  13. Thanks Yoda. :) After I completed my crystal bow testing I concluded that it is slightly faster than addy bolts, but only a small amount, and the cost is a lot higher. So it's an alternative, but nothing that changes any fundamentals. Guide on my site is still updated to mention it.
  14. {Note to moderators: as I explain in the article I believe this is directly on-topic and relevant to the RuneScape community, and explain why within the piece. ~q) (Originally published on TruthScape and copied here for the benefit of the Tip.It community and to spur discussion.) The TruthScape Soapbox - Issue #1 - Words Can Kill Published: November 17, 2007 The old expression that ̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬Ãâ¦Ã¢â¬Åthe pen is mightier than the sword̢̢̮ââ¬Å¡Ã¬ÃâÃ
  15. Agreed. Yes, F2P is annoying, but when one goes looking for problems, one generally finds them, and that's what happened here.
  16. You don't sound very happy to me. ;)
  17. Look, this is not a book containing a fictional story based on RuneScape or something like that. It's a practical how-to-play guide. Your ridiculous comment makes as much sense as a tobacco company claiming that they're selling cigarettes and lighters to kids and telling them how to use the lighters, but "oh no, we're not saying that they should smoke, no sirree". (Why are so many people around here so desperate to defend what is clearly indefensible behavior on the part of Jagex? Is the company really that successful with its implicit brainwashing program? Or do folks just need to feel like Jagex can do no wrong because it makes them feel uncomfortable to have to deal with difficult issues?) Edit: Thanks Pauly, and nice to "see" you again.
  18. Umm .... an example please? You my friend are a complete idiot if you are going to defend yourself so lightly and TruthScape deserves to die if they publish such lies. I would be a complete idiot if I wasted my time repeating answers I've already given several times in this thread for the sake of someone too lazy to read it, wouldn't I? ~q

My guess is that using Edgeville will be faster than either. If you are P2P, use glories, otherwise walk.
  20. Speak for yourself. :P
  21. The fact that this would be ridiculously easy to track. It was pretty good, but it DID have quite a few flaws, most of which Jagex isn't even bothering to fix.
  22. You are too low level to solo. Even with high level stats soloing is a waste of time unless you are only doing it to say you did it. The hilts are very rare drops -- that's why they cost so much.
  23. You should be able to figure this out. :P I'd help but not sure exactly what you want to know.
  24. Agreed. They go down all the time because they are too easy to get. (Abyssal demons are one of the easiest slayer monsters.) There's no reason why this will ever change unless Jagex beefs the demons up.
  25. Well, looks like I will be updating my guide soon. I got so caught up in the "crossbow hype" that I completely forgot to even test the crystal bow. I just did, and the early results are impressive! Stay tuned...
