Earthquakes
We had a small tremor out of nowhere back in April or May. Apparently everyone noticed except me. I could sleep through Lenin's conquest of the world.

Honestly...
That's terrible advice :| All that will do is make his parents frustrated and angry, worsening his situation. Although I believe the padlock thing is a joke, it's likely to seem the most appealing thing to do no matter how logical and sound the other advice is. It's standard teenager behavior and there's nothing you can do about it until you are simply out from under your parents' scrutiny. I turn sixteen in three weeks, and I can very much sympathize with Powman, although my problems stem more from tension with my dad. (Two males butting heads can get ugly, especially when they're polar opposites.) As much as I know what I should do, I'm too stubborn, proud, and typically rebellious to buckle down and do it. But never despair, for once you get older you'll have to deal with them less (my parents are pretty trusting, as I said before that's not where my trouble is) and after you've made a few more stupid decisions that will hopefully be instructional you will be fine ;)

Rock Band 2: The Opening Act
I must say, that setlist is about eighteen times better than the first RB's.

What are your flaws?
Heh, that's like me, except I live a half-mile back on a private drive that's on a street that's on the outskirts of a town that's on the outskirts of main civilization. So I don't even have anyone in my neighborhood, and it's a pain for transportation as I don't have my license yet.

Guitar Hero/Rock Band Discussion thread
Gah, are you serious? I always come out of that with a 2X multiplier, sometimes 3X. Still can't get to it on a real run though. . . I always fail because of overstrums. I actually got 81% on a practice run. Damn that intro. And now my Wii is broken and I won't get it back from servicing for another few days :x

What are your flaws?
I have a low voice that virtually no one can hear unless I make a point to raise it. I am partially deaf, so maybe that has something to do with it, but it drives me crazy when others say "What?" every other sentence. I hate being wrong. Furthermore, when I realize I am wrong I hate admitting it to people. Usually I'll quietly revise my position and pretend I never thought the other way. Normally I am a very mild person, but with certain people I have an extremely short temper and it's pretty explosive whenever I do burst.

Your favorite book/book series
An example of readers enjoying the book despite the prose. Inheritance has legions of die-hard fans despite copious amounts of purple prose, thesarus rape, and forced dialogue.

Your favorite book/book series
People like Harry Potter because it's a fun and original story that combines fantasy elements in a way that's never been done before, and in a world that readers can actually relate to. JK Rowling is a good writer when it comes to creating a magical world and believable and likeable characters. The prose is not outstanding, in fact it's not even particularly great. But it doesn't need to be; the writing is solid and serves its purpose as a way to tell the story that everyone loves. And I've never really seen the prose style affect anyone's liking of a book unless they are particularly well-read or have an interest in writing themselves. Take Inheritance as an example.

Guitar Hero IV:World Tour - 100% REAL track list is up!
I'm going to allow for a suspension of disbelief for a moment and assume that is the real setlist. Can you imagine how hard some of these songs will be to sing? Especially Heaven and Hell and any Muse song. As well as this. . . Giveitaway giveitaway giveitaway now!

Guitar Hero IV:World Tour - 100% REAL track list is up!
There is to much of what seems like wishful thinking in that setlist for it to be the real one. Besides, I doubt they would release it so early. If it is the real one. . . Damn.

Guitar Hero/Rock Band Discussion thread
I know someone who plays real guitar, and he chases girls constantly but for some reason they aren't impressed with his uber REAL GUITAR skillz. . . . For real, no one plays to impress anyone. I've tried real guitar, but it's never held my interest simply because it takes years and years to be good at it, and even then you probably can't play One, Cliffs of Dover, etc. GH takes a week or two to learn and then you can play through songs you love and have fun. Which is the whole point of the game: have fun.

HEROES SPOILER!!
If you haven't read any comics since the 80s then that's true, but ever since then they have been all about the gray. Well, you know what I mean. Excluding the Marvel Civil War, you can generally assume that if it's a Spider-Man comic, then Spider-Man is the good guy. Or maybe I'm completely wrong and if that is the case I will bow to the superiority of Indy500fan's comic book knowledge.

HEROES SPOILER!!
If Claire was pointing a gun at Peter, maybe the villain is supposed to be Peter. Unlike typical comic book superheroes, the ones on this show actually have shades of gray. Peter wasn't exactly noble in the last season as I recall.

HEROES SPOILER!!
There was a thread for this, must have been lost in the rollback. . . I honestly can't remember much of what happened in Season 2, and I can't watch that trailer on dial-up. Why would Claire be a villain?

Theism/Agnosticism/Atheism
Your intended meanings are far too glaringly obvious for what you are trying to do. The work hovers in some weird place between formal argumentation and metaphorical presentation, with some odd things that belong in neither thrown in. Argument one is the best of the three. I like the analogy of the watch to the universe, and the way you twisted it was good. The bad thing is this: "I can see why this was the main belief of the masses upon the advent of astronomy." Never use "I" in a formal argumentative essay. Don't use "I" in narration when there is no clear speaker. Since you hover in that weird place, it is a double no-no. Coupled with this: "Designer? Ha. This is more analogous to a child shaking its new snow globe." it gives the impression of a personal attack. The emphasis placed on that word and a few others gives the feel of derision. Make your point without looking down your nose with a curled lip. Now for argument two, it is different from the first in that there is now a clear narrator, and it reads more like a fictional story. The only problem I have with this is that it is such a sudden contrast with the first in terms of style, and devolves into preachiness at the end. You spent all those lines building up to what should have been a subtly executed and poignant point, but instead mock the buildup by simply saying outright what you were driving at all along. Argument three. . . I don't like. Preachy, full of angst that I assume is suppossed to garner sympathy in conjuction with the cirumstances but instead distances the whole paragraph from the point it is trying to make. All it ends up as in the end is an angry narration from the one-sided POV of an abused teenager. Overall, it is an interesting attempt, but you need to find your niche so to speak and lay out some ground rules for the area based on those already established. Basically a hybrid of formal essaying and metaphor as I said earlier, but you have to follow the rules or it will not be taken seriously.

What do you think will end the human race?
No. We aren't. Yeah, that first W stands for world. America has been nearly alone in the War on Terror from the get-go. Plus, terrorism isn't a nation or even a singular organized body, so it technically isn't a war in the first place. . . . Although, random nuclear bombings are a scary thought. That could end the world real quick.

What do you think will end the human race?
I knew that ten years is an optimistic, if not impossible, figure :) . But the general idea is still the same. Think of an epic exodus through space to flee the impending doom of the planet Earth. Now I'm just sounding like a sci-fi writer  .

What do you think will end the human race?
Yup, it's theorized that there may be microorganisms in a planet-wide ocean beneath the ice crust. And even if we had to search outside the solar system for habitable planets, with technology advancing the way it is I have no doubt it will be possible to reach them, albeit with an incredibly long journey. But if, say, colonists head out and take ten years to get there, establish themselves, and take tens years to send some people back -- we now have humans on a planet other than Earth. If Earth is destroyed, even in the twenty years that round trip took, humanity will survive. Intriguing, here are some links, I did what I could wth Dial-up: http://people.msoe.edu/~tritt/sf/europa.life.html - there are more links at the bottom of this page, it's a bit outdated http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Europa_(moon) - Europa Wiki page Tried to find some of the Mars stuff, but it was taking too long to load the pages. And it looks like Europa's atmosphere might not be suitable as it's too thin, but the oxygen is there.

What do you think will end the human race?
The problem with that being that we haven't actually found a planet capable of sustaining life (as we know it) yet. Didn't they find ice under Mars? Along with some sort of chocolate I don't know about the chocolate, but Mars has polar ice caps. I've seen theories that claim those can be melted through engineered global warming and such and an ecosystem restored within a few hundred years, making Mars fit for habitation. Also, Europa is a giant ball of ice and contains the right combination of gasses in its atmosphere to sustain life. There are other moons of Jupiter and Saturn that are possible candidates as well, though I can't remember which ones right now.

Most over-rated band ever?
Do-do-do-doooo-do It's still a light-hearted song, though. Which is basically what you get from the Bealtes: whimsical nonsense like half the Abbey Road album, or else light love songs and slow, deeper ones. With a few exceptions.
