Art
I believe that 'natural talent' has very little bearing on whether you can become a good artist or not. What it really takes is interest, motivation, hard work, and a desire to improve and learn from mistakes and constructive criticism. In my family, I have an aunt who writes commercials and an aunt who is an artist, and writing and art are my interests and I'm good at them - but that's because I was interested and kept at it. Really, I think the only thing you can really inherit from a relative that would be helpful is interest. The rest you have to learn yourself, and being motivated and enjoying it are the best tools to help you learn. But if you find that you like art and wish to pursue it, there is nothing at all stopping you from becoming great.

The Battle Arena
No one's getting commended for being the first to post crit, bud. *Looks at post times* Use some sense, man. I posted six minutes after you. You posted while I was writing my reply. And there's nothing wrong with a second opinion.

Favourite standup comedians?
Brian Regan wins. He's awesome. Never swears and still manages to be funnier than most other comedians.

The Battle Arena
Use paragraphs. Don't just write in one massive wall until you're finished. New paragraph every time someone new speaks, and bust it up in other ways as well. Also, you stated at the beginning that he had a lot of problems, and then listed exactly one. That's a contradiction. Be more careful with your use of pronouns, as it got confusing in the middle when you used 'he' to refer to both men without direction. And be more descriptive, try to use adjectives and adverbs to make the writing less bland. And please let this have more substance than repeated tellings of different fights. That's boring. Give us more meat to the story than 'the day to day fights of Talos.' Don't get discouraged, this is only constructive criticism. I encourage you to keep writing, it's fun :) .

Noob Stories.
It is against the rules in the Varrock Library to post such stories, so they will be locked. They probably should delete them, though, but rest assured they are not allowed. Glad to see someone actually cares about that lonely corner of the forums and I haven't written an eight-page thread for nothing  .

Family Guy : Whats your verdict?
Hehe, the chicken fights are the best. I especially like the one that happens in the episode when Quagmire is peeping on Lois, right when the men and women are having the confrontation. Ima go watch some season 1 FG right now, kthxbai.

What kind of phone do you have?
That, only black. I actually like the feel of it and the shape, but yeah otherwise it's pretty low quality. Only cost like 20 bucks though. And it actually survived being dropped from above my head once. Onto tile.

The Biefeld-Brown Effect
It does have a long way to go, but I don't think you understand completely the concept. First, the biggest advantage of this method of propulsion is no moving parts. Do I have to list how many advantages that gives over a propeller? And I don't understand how you can say that you accelerate a large amount of air to a slower speed; this is ion propulsion, so denser air would result in far superior performance. Yes, the problem with this whole concept is that no one has spent the time to develop it. But your '1% lol' comment wasn't necessary, as I already said that is only exhibited by the simple models that anyone can build out of a few pieces of balsa wood, some tin foil, and some copper wire with the directions and simple measurements taken from the internet. More precise and calcualted models have been professionally tested in the past and achieved near 100% efficiency. The problem is, as I have stated, scientists lost interest in EHD when they realized it was ion-based and therefore could not work in vacuum. And 100% efficiency is far superior to most propellers.

Whats some of your fav TV series ?
LOST is honestly the best show ever conceived by man. It has problems that plague the TV business, namely slow-moving plot and too many commercial breaks, but all in all it's easily the best show I've ever seen. Season Four starts January 31st I think. Heroes is a close second, and 24 is good too, not so much the last season, the 6th. Five was probably its peak.

The Biefeld-Brown Effect
I looked around, and the single-stage models that you see around and I linked to are actually running at about 1% electrical:mechanical efficiency, and they aren't exactly struggling to get off the ground. Near 100% efficiency can be achieved with good design, so at that point it is simply providing enough DC electrical input to make it go the speed you want. However, I have also read that the thrust may be constant no matter what you do, due to the nature of the way it is created; that is, the fact that the electrodes must be a certain distance apart to create the thrust, and if you increase the voltage then they will need to be moved accordingly. However, this does not at all disqualify EHD from being a viable option for propulsion. I'm sorry to be so vague, but the thing is research on these is scarce and inconclusive. The scientific community pretty much dropped all research into EHD by the end of the 60's once it was discovered that it won't work in vacuum.

Most useless X,mas present you have received this season....
A box containing a how-to-juggle book and three juggling balls. I can already juggle and have about 20 hackysacks lying around. . .

The Biefeld-Brown Effect
You can build one of these from tin foil and balsa wood, but the difficult part of it is the voltage, which is extremely dangerous. I'm not going to discourage you from doing it, but be very careful when dealing with such high voltage, as the 30KV required for this model can easily kill you. So a simple model of these is relatively cheap, and it takes a lot of voltage, but achieving the voltage shouldn't be too much of an obstacle.

The Biefeld-Brown Effect
Possibly, but it will take a lot of experimentation to nail down constants and figure out what kind of payload it can handle in proportion to the voltage and weight of the craft itself. It's still quite fascinating :) .

Death to RWT, can we have death of randoms now?
I thank you for your remarkable comment. The light you shed on the subject allowed me to see this from a whole different perspective. Never again will I doubt your wisdom. I apologize, sincerely, for any hesitance I had towards recognizing your intelligence. Flaming the guy because he disagrees with you? Wow, I am so impressed. Am I the only one here who actually likes the randoms? Not because he disagrees, but because he posted absolutely nothing worthwhile at all. Hence the actual content of the reply. And yes, you are probably one of the few who actually like randoms.

The Biefeld-Brown Effect
To Klan, as of now there have not been very many experiments into the effect, which is partially the reason i posted. A lot of that information, such as the ratio of weight to force and how much payload the lifter can take is still up in the air, though I remember reading somewhere that a scientist by the name of Jean-Louis Naudin has been experimenting a lot with small models, and has come to some conclusions. I'll try to find a link to her website. To answer your other question, the direction of the force can be manipulated any way you see fit, merely by the placement of the nodes. The momentum will always flow towards the smaller node - a correction on my original post - and so you can get it to go in any direction you want by arranging the electrodes accordingly. Lenin, this is not anti-gravity, it is electrohydrodynamics. However, that doesn't make it any less awesome. Here is a video of a lifter in action, it's a Youtube link. There are lots of these around:

The Biefeld-Brown Effect
I came across this last year while reading Charles Berlitz's book on the Philadelphia Experiment, and was fascinated by it. Just a few minutes ago I was watching Numb3rs for the first time in months and lo and behold they actually showed an example of this phenomenon, which inspired me to come here and make this post. First, a simple explanation of the B-BE. It was discovered during the late 40's/early 50's (I'm unsure about the exact date) when the US government was actively researching gravitational propulsion. The basic concept that it relies on is ionization resulting from high voltage. When two conductive nodes are placed a specific distance from each other and charged with electricity, one small and sharp, the other larger and smoother, the smaller one becomes charged much more rapidly and to a greater extent, and ionization of the atoms in the air around it occurs. This leaves a whole bunch of positively charged atoms surrounding the small electrode, and they are therefore attracted to the larger which is still negatively charged. This creates a net force of momentum between the two. Now, this has been around for a long time, and due to technological restrictions it hasn't come to much fruition. But I think that with today's ever-advancing technology it could prove to be a relevant and extremely useful principle. There have been several experiments in creating small 'lifters' using this effect, and there was even a patent in 1964. I'm sure that with a bit of attention and thought, this principle, also known as electrohydrodynamics (EHD), could potentially provide an alternative to gas-powered vehicles and all manner of economical and convenient uses. Myself, I'm going to look into building a lifter, as I wanted to months ago but never got around to. Here are some wiki pages on the subject, you can follow the reference links for more info or just use Google: Lifter page Biefeld-Brown Effect Discuss.

Rank Contest
Yerse, a lot of the people who want a rank contest, or know what it is for that matter, no longer play or never played Runescape, so yeah. I am so winning this contest 8-) .

Family Guy : Whats your verdict?
A few friends and I had a four hour car drive to our football state championship game, and we basically spent the entire time watching Family Guy. Yeah, it's pretty offensive sometimes, and extremely stupid most of the time, but that's why it's so hilarious. Best FG moment ever: "This is almost as intense as the time I forgot to sit down!" [scene in which Peter dives into his armchair] Oh, and I might as well mention that we popped in South Park for maybe four epsiodes, then went back to Family Guy. South Park just isn't funny and they swear way too much.

Knuckle cracking- arthritis or not?
Heh, I can't crack anything and don't feel like trying. My cousin tried to get me to do it once, by taking my hand herself and trying to force my knuckles down  . It hurt, probably 'cause she had no sense of what was actually happenign to my hand. Although, when I was learning the kip-up, sometimes I landed hard with my knees bent as far as they could possibly go and the force made them crack. That hurt a bit afterwards too :P .

Guitar Hero/Rock Band Discussion thread
Thank you, that is true and a big reason for why I was having trouble with Medium. A lot of times, you're getting really into the song, you know what's coming next, and you go full blast into it in time with the song and you've gone and strummed too fast, screwing up the whole beat and now you have to miss a couple of notes to get back on track. It's especially hard to get some of those series of half and quarter-notes, as it's difficult to tell them apart sometimes and the timing is often just wrong. Meh, just a bit of defense against those who are ridiculing us newbie players for having problems. I just got this for Christmas and had never touched a GH game before in my life. I have now beat all songs on Medium and I'm working on improving my speed and dexterity (damn red+blue chords) before I move onto Hard and Expert. So give us a break.

Marijuana, Is It Actually Bad?
To the contrary, who in their right mind would obtain weed illegally off some shady guy on the corner when they can walk into BP and buy a pack? And to say that all marijuana is in the hands of the dealers is a bit ignorant. Weed can be grown basically anywhere, by anyone. It's not too hard for the government to get it for legal sale. And legal marijuana would be cheaper than illegal. The government would set a stable price and tax it fairly. Dealers, on the other hand, can drive prices pretty high to maximize their own profit and keep up with the competition.

I'm gonna try not to sleep!
It's 1:15 AM here, and I'm probably going to be retiring soon. Why the hell anyone would sacrifice sleep to that extreme for the heck of it is beyond me. I've pulled all-nighters before, and I regularly stay up to midnight or later on days when I have no obligations in the morning, but come on.
