I don't think they abuse it as such, maybe min-maxing but not much else.

no harm in being proud of doing charity work, plus it might help shift a couple of copies. It's not like they are being uber-crass and spamming it all over the front page, so a couple of quick mentions is fair play imo

Caught this whilst doing some random googling and thought folks here might like to know - there is going to be some new, signed, RuneScape art work in the MMO Calendar 2009 (http://calendar.mmoportal.com/). There is also artwork for World of Warcraft, DC Universe, and a bunch of other MMOs (12 in total, no suprise really). All the money goes to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and to make it even more bargain there is a prize draw which includes (as yet unknown) RuneScape googies (including "closed beta accounts", so you never know it could include a MechScape Beta pass).

Having had a leave of absence myself I can say that coming back is mostly what I expected it to be - a return to an old friend that has grown up a bit and got a couple of new tricks up their sleave, but which is still mostly what I remember them to be and I'm grateful for it. Content and look has changed but the basic core 'fun' of the game is still there so I'm happy

I'm sorry but when were there no ads in the game? I honestly can't remember a time when F2P didn't have adverts, why did you suddenly get all up in arms about a couple of adverts? RuneScape is nothing like a birthday present, nor has it ever been. Its a service, not a gift. Honestly I don't see why all this hair splitting is happening, quite ridiculous

Hi A mate of mine has set up an article about the RS HD launch on the Digg.Com site. Today I found a press release from FunCom about Age of Conan being the second biggest MMO due to having seven hundred thousand subscribers. This really annoyed me as RuneScape is blatantly bigger than them with around a million subscribers and however many free members. I am sick and tired of people not thinking RS is a 'proper mmo' or that it should be taken as a kids game or whatever. I'm really angry at the game getting discounted and ignored cause it doesn't cost $60 to buy and then $20 a month. Its just as good as any of those other ones and in many ways better. grrrrr :wall: rant over

I've always used quests to level. Its more fun than grind, it gives you decent xp and rewards, and if nothing else it gives you the questing bug which gives you a reason to raise your stats (other than just wanting to have that groovy 99 on your account)

right... so they were talking about summoning for ages and then because they bring it out thats a bad thing (cause its not like they had to remove wild or staking cause of the gold farmer problem costing them mucho grande cash or anything). And now that they have decided to upgrade the graphics (way big project that most likely cost them a fortune in development to redraw everything) because they can't create 'good pvp' content (ie 'something where you can get items/cash from like in the wildy and staking which they had to get rid of cause it was being abused by goldfarmers') which would be an awful lot simpler to do and cost them a month or so of a couple of members of development? My god, your right! The evil and underhand swine!! The only reason they are doing *any* of the updates since christmas is because they are so terrible at writing good MMOs!! or not, you decide

true dat, plus if they get more people in they will need more content to keep them happy so more and better :-) erm... when the heck did Habbo start being an MMO?? There are no MMO elements to it other than a couple of minigames but even then its basically a regular casual game with a 3D interface. Its way more a social networking site (like a 3d facebook) or a virtual world (like Second Life but without the furries) so why should they be included in an MMO list? Not saying that they aren't big (cause they so very obviously are) but they are not an MMO and bringing them into a talk about MMOs is like saying 'well your Rugby team may be the 2nd biggest but my Football team is way bigger'

it has been, quite a few times iirc If there is a mod in the house could they think about stickying this one so that we don't get more re-posts in the future? People are going to keep finding out about this news so we might as well keep it up there so all the talk is in one place (just a suggestion btw, no worries if it doesn't happen)

I'm guessing its going to be a case of launch the new graphics, wait a week to iron out all the bugs that will be there (not because its a bad design etc but just because the only way to find what bugs will happen in a million+ player game is to have a million+ people play it) and then bring in some kick [wagon] new content to go 'So you thought that was good, now try this!' well it's what I hope for anyway :-)

According to IGN News the RS graphics updates are going to be show at the E3 show from July 14 to July 17. So we have at most 2 and a half weeks before the role out of all the promised new funky graphics. \
