  1. Its about 5 miles by 4 miles across and has a population of about 110k, that isn't that big either in size or people by UK standards. yes it has a university, but that doesn't make the place itself interesting or have anything exciting going on. happily agree that I mucked it by not knowing the guy who had started the rumour had posted up calling it nonsense but still very happy that the place is both small and uneventful (but with a couple of universities which people of note have come from)
  2. I hadn't seen that bit... Yes, I do feel very silly now  Then again the amount of people calling it true was just driving me mental so I guess those 20 minutes were worth it (kinda) If nothing else I now know how incredibly dull a place cambridge is
  3. I'm sure by now many of you would have heard of the following story: "Cambridge, UK - A 14-year-old teen was arrested in Cambridge on Tuesday morning for throwing several bricks through office windows. The teen, who was not identified by police, was charged for property destruction and will be due to appear in court on December 14th. According to police, the office belonged to Jagex Ltd., a company that specializes in Java computer games" Its been posted on the Jagex forums and on fan sites and guild sites and been mentioned in game by anyone with a passing interest in the way things are at the moment. Its a wonderful story for all those who are frustrated with the recent changes, showing someone taking the sort of action that they would love to take themselves due to their anger at the updates. Only slight problem with it - it didn't happen. Or at least if it did the source of the story is incredibly elusive. I've checked the cambridge media (Cambridge Evening News, BBC Cambridge sites, local uni paper, all the local radio station sites, even a couple of free papers like the town crier) and found nothing relating even slightly to this story. Cambridge is a small town, from the looks of it nothing ever really happens around there. I think a story like this would actually make the news as at least a passing mention. "Major MMO Company Gets Brice Through Window!!" Nope "Fans Show Disgust At Game Changes" Not a thing nada, nothing, zip all. Only people reporting it are RuneScape fans. Specifically the ones peved off with the updates. And the reported facts? 'Property destruction' isn't a crime in the UK, its called 'criminal damage'. So the wordings wrong unless its a US reporter (who picked up on a story even the local news missed) 4 days to go to court in the UK for juvenile criminal damage? yeah right! Takes a month *AT BEST* for someone that young to go to court over something that minor in the UK. He put a brick through a window, he didn't kill anyone. UK courts don't work that fast. "was not identified by the police" - more like can't be, and something that is always stated as such by the uk media. might have been an off day So we have *no proven source *no findable source *incorrect wording of the crime and curious wording as to not being able to ID the kid *The fastest court proceedings for a bricking in which noone was hurt in UK history Sorry, but unless someone can find a decent credible source on this one I think we can safely call it a myth 8-) EDIT: plus the person who wrote it says its fake http://forum.tip.it/viewtopic.php?t=723801 And I should have searched here rather than on google #-o
  4. Think about it, why would jagex screw up a good thing like the old duel arena without a good reason. U been to FTP lumbridge lately? The bots are out of control, so jagex are just trying to stop RWT before its too late, unfortunately the duel arena comes under dis umbrella!
  5. I don't understand why everyone is rioting about this? So they put a 3k limit on a duel, if your a serious dueller use the new tournament system. It look like great fun, playing against a load of random players for a serious amount of money at the end!! And as for Jagex being against stakers, surely you can see dis has someting to do with RWT, I tink there trying to make the game better, and everyone is just kicking off because they cant get easy moeny anymore!
  6. yup, which sucks but its either have jagex make a change or let them carry on cheating. personally I like it as it means I can get a duel without having to risk all my cash. a radical update for RS - doing something for the fun of it rather than the gp!
  7. could be good, could be bad. not sure how close it will be to the book but at least they got a decent actor in to play the lead :-)
  8. I wouldn't say they went into too much detail but at my school (UK) they did tell us about the basics of the Holocaust. Not heard about anyone missing those bits out but I guess part of it depends which bit of WW2 your studying.
  9. Agreed on the grammar thing but if your going to blast off a flameball of anger in public then expect people to be annoyed with you. Also don't forget that a bunch of the anger always comes from either not reading the manual or just getting caught for doing something bad (not always, but often).
  10. yeah, but if you don't know what its in reference to this quite useful.
  11. yeah, had it a couple of times. Just ignore it and hope they either grow up or find something else to play.
  12. dunno about younger in age but I think their getting funner. Yeah, no items to trade off for big cash etc but then again you get things like this Halloweens spook house.
  13. seems like another of those little tweeks that makes the whole thing that little bit better. not new content but still nice imo
  14. the dueling / PKing scene got filled with people who just don't know their ettiquette. Best solution, imo, is to keep on being civil to them even if they are going all gangsta on you. Drives them mental when you get talked to after a graceful defeat and they get ignored after a disgraceful victory squawking session.
  15. nice clean path free of bots in my neck of the woods - result!
  16. what has this to do with an individual player taking a gold selling site to court?!? come on, can't even one other person find it in them to go 'cool, someones trying to rain on the parade of the sort of people that have been wrecking our game for soooo damn long'? yeah they might fail etc but at least their giving it a shot. check out the site, check out what their doing, and think what this could mean if it works for RS and all the other MMORPGs
  17. Blizzard own the WoW accounts as well and this is happening anyway so 'Jagex own the accounts' isn't a reason for it not to happen. The case (found here and chock full of legal lingo so forgive me if i can't get all of it right) isn't about owning the account its about the RWT co mucking with the game that this guy Hernandez is paying for, just like we do with RS.
  18. Just saw this site http://www.igeclassaction.com/ Seems some guy (who should be made into a saint if their scheme works) is about to sue a RWT company for wasting their time by wrecking the game they play! Anyone know if we could do the same thing with RuneScape? :D To clarify - this is an individual player, not the company that runs the game, who is taking the RWT co to court. Also this has nothing to do with who owns the accounts, its about him having his time wasted / the activities of the RWT co.
  19. I don't really listen to music tbh. Not to say i avoid it, just that there's so much on tv / the radio / just around to hear at school or the mall etc that I don't ever have to go out of my way to listen to it. no major opinions on whats good and whats not, although there are a bunch of tunes i do like.
  20. it sucks but the return journey is always a blast. where I am I've been blown up hills on my bike thanks to the wind :-)
  21. and it does explain why girls keep on going for the dimmer jock types. overall I think the technical word for the guy who wrote this article would get me banned from the forum. there are loads of factors like education and upbringing which come into play and this guy is just playing a pseduo science card to cover up the fact that he's a bigot.
  22. got to agree on that, its nice ideas and all that but if folks don't already know all that a sticky isn't going to suddenly change their ways.
  23. "beggboy" on account of my last name being Begg and some of the girls at school being total [bleep]es.
  24. well thats just a whole new level of wrong imo. how the heck can someone behave like that when they have that kinda job.
  25. from talking to a mod ingame they told me that it increases what your going to get, however as its a random drop this means you can still just have bad luck with it so it would be hard to prove. I think it helps me but I can't be bothered to do the math to prove it, plus I'll just happily accept that jagex are telling the truth about it working as it would just be too much of an pain to make up a lie like that and some mod somewhere would have let slip to someone if it didn't work as they said.
