  1. With the 7-zip link, it is the first one for the 32-bit version
  2. more detailed than the link above http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/virus-r ... l-security
  3. Here are the numbers you were guessing on: Warcraft III: reign of chaos - player's daily -playing arranged games 4,000-7,000 - custom games(player made maps) 1,400- 5,000 warcraft III: The Frozen Throne - player's daily - playing arranged games 70,000-120,000 - custom games(player made maps) 30,000 - 70,000 I think a post somewhere in this thread asked for server costs. I did some calculations in another thread which should give a general area of how much it costs Jagex per year to run the servers. viewtopic.php?f=30&t=790988&p=6612493#p6612493

There you go! http://www.apple.com/ilife/imovie/ http://www.debugmode.com/wax/ http://www.thugsatbay.com/tab/?q=zweistein http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/down ... aker2.mspx http://www.virtualdub.org/ http://www.zs4.net/free-software-downloads http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/ http://www.am-soft.ru/aviedit.html
  5. Spammers care as it adds one more name to their arsenal and in turn increasing the probability that another computer could become infected with a trojan or virus. I would suggest getting one of each type of anti-malware product(i.e. anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall): Anti-virus: Avast! - http://www.avast.com/ Kaspersky - http://www.kaspersky.com/ NOD32 - http://www.eset.com/ Antivir - http://www.avira.com/en/pages/index.php Anti - spyware: Spybot: Search & Destroy - http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html (spybot has always used mirrors and does not actually host the product on their site) Ad-Aware - http://www.lavasoft.com/ Firewalls: Comodo Firewall Pro - http://www.comodo.com/ ZoneAlarm - http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en-us ... ?lid=en-us Conglomerate of products: http://download.cnet.com/windows/
  6. O20 - Winlogon Notify: geBspPge - geBspPge.dll (file missing) Could anyone tell me what program this goes to? A search on it reveals nothing except for this thread.........
  7. For the past few weeks Mozilla Firefox has been having this strange problem. By strange I mean that sometimes when I hit the "backspace key" and hover for a second over a link it will automatically goto the address in that link. Browser version: Firefox 3.0.11 I have narrowed it down to three possibilities: 1) It is a misclick from my wireless mouse(in effect a double-click after a single one when no click has occurred) 2) Some sites with tabs, after hitting the backspace key, will momentarily lag the mouse pointer and if I click one of the tabs it will instead click a link instead of switching between the content. 3) Slight interference between computers when browsing the net where our mice will, for a split second, hop onto someone else s screen.
  8. To get rid of Norton the resource hog you literally have to go through your computer and delete all the folders relating to the product. http://www.askdavetaylor.com/how_can_i_ ... ystem.html
  9. If the hdd is perfectly good they would be completely [developmentally delayed]ed for smashing it(money), and you have to wipe a disk several times before it is truly cleaned as when you reformat some stuff will remain, you can't access it though without some programs, that will be waiting to be written on over as you use the hdd.
  10. The posts on this site explain how it would be possible to do that, but you probably don't have anything on the laptop of the type. http://www.ethicalhacker.net/component/ ... ic,1501.0/
  11. I think that Runescape should have a system in place for hotkeys, but that you should be able to make your own. Here is an example: alias a eat shark alias q wear Scimitar(puts on the first scimitar in your inventory) Being able to assign your own hotkeys has major advantages over just having a select few.
  12. This is going to be a long list Arcade [hide=]Popeye: The Arcade game (Basically a ripoff of Donkey Kong, but hey it was POPEYE the Sailor Man)[/hide] Nintendo [hide=]The Ninja II: The Dark Sword of chaos (Ninja Gaiden) Kirby's Adventure The Legend of Zelda Rampart Metroid Gauntlet II Yoshi Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Super Mario Duck Hunt (gun still works) Xexyz Mickey Mousecapade (this game is so hard) Super Mario Bros. 3 Milon's Secret Castle[/hide] Sega Genesis [hide=]Steel Empire ToeJam & Earl ToeJam & Earl II Sonic The Hedgehog Sonic the Hedgehog II Phantasy Star: The End of the Millennium Phantasy Star IV Phantasy Star II[/hide] Super Nintendo [hide=]Final Fantasy III/VI Final Fantasy Mystic Quest Final Fantasy IV Super Metroid Baseball Simulator 1.000 Sim City Killer Instinct Mortal Kombat 3 The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past Power Rangers Zeo: Battle Racers Firestrike[/hide] GameBoy [hide=]Tetris Yoshi's Cookie Turrican (I have never been able to beat this game) Megaman SuperMarioLand Pokemon Red Pokemon Blue[/hide] Don't know if these count as old school yet, but here goes Nintendo 64 [hide=]The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Quest 64 Super Mario 64 Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire Starfox 64 PilotWings Mariokart 64 Wave Race Crusin' USA[/hide]
  13. My eyes glanced right on over that, but it would appear that Mcaffee has been alerted to the site and others have already found out that it does indeed redirect you to sites that you would not goto otherwise. http://sunbeltblog.blogspot.com/2009/05 ... orthy.html here are some snippets of what it does: 00402040 - DnsFlushResolverCache 00402058 - dnsapi 00402060 - DhcpNotifyConfigChange 00402078 - dhcpcsvc 00402084 - DhcpNameServer 00402094 - NameServer 004020A0 - SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\Tcpip\Parameters\Interfaces\%s 0040219A - SHSetValueA 004021A6 - SHLWAPI.dll 004021B4 - GetAdaptersInfo 004021C4 - iphlpapi.dll 004021D4 - _snprintf 004021DE - ntdll.dll 004021E8 - WS2_32.dll
  14. It is located here: C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer The mischievous file should be in one of those files where IE is if it is being redirected.
  15. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there does not seem to be anything wrong with your "processes" or "registry" file. My advice would be to go poking around where the internet explorer file resides and tell us about any strange files there.
  16. I know it's not what you asked for, but it is the best one out there. http://www.cprogramming.com/tutorial.html This one seems to do a little bit of what you ask for. http://www.cplusplus.com/doc/tutorial/ http://www.codersource.net/codersource_ ... mming.html Hope this helps, as when it comes to programming there really aren't that many "hands-on" sites.
  17. Here are a few: Spybot: Search & destroy - http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html (Spybot uses mirrors for the actual downloading) (free) (mainly for anti-spyware) Avast! - http://www.avast.com/ (everlasting trial period and can be upgraded) (a combination of anti-spyware and malware) Nod32 - http://www.eset.com/ (subscription based) AVG - http://free.avg.com/ (mainly for viruses) (30-day trial) (has gone downhill a lot like someone else said) trendmicro - http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ Kaspersky - http://www.kaspersky.com/ First and foremost, the built in firewall that comes with windows is not very good. A better suggestion for this would be : Comodo - http://www.comodo.com/ (free) (can be set permanently to training mode with no risk to security) Zonealarm - http://www.zonealarm.com/security/en-us ... ?lid=en-us (still never ending trial period me thinks) I hope this helps you.
  18. What I meant by case-sensitive is that most of the syntax commands have to be uppercase at the start, while most other programming languages could care less how you type them as long as the structure is correct.
  19. Do you know their political leanings? If so, you can go off on the opposite platform saying you support that and they might just leave you alone altogether. and/or if that does not work Tell them to put you on the "do not call list" and if they call you back again(you can see where I am going here)........
  20. If you are planning to make games there are two main languages that you should learn. The primary one being C++ or Java and the secondary one being one that compliments the language of your choice. If you choose Java I recommend this book: Java - An Introduction to Problem Solving & Programming Fifth Edition by Walter Savitch and Frank M. Carrano Here is the wikipedia article for C++ and Java, which will tell you what all it can do. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C%2B%2B http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/C%2B%2B Java is case-sensitive unlike most programming languages, which makes it a pain to program in.
  21. I forgot to mention too that with PC games I wish there could be some rental kind of service (possibly through steam). That way you could rent those shorter games that aren't really worth buying, because honestly that really hurts more than anything compared to consoles. Also while this doesn't have something to do with PC Gaming, used video game sales hurt the industry probably just as much or more than what piracy does. The reason why is that a person going into a shop has the intentions on buying the game, but if they decide to buy the used game (for a $5 discount more or less) then that money goes right to the retail chain and not to the studio who created the game. If anything the used industry is a much worse offender than piracy will ever be, at least in the video game industry. If I'm going to buy something (personally) I'm going to buy the new version, not the used. Hold it right there. Have you not ever heard of the first sale rule? After it has been sold once, the developers have already made their money and are no longer entitled to anymore after that, subscription based games do not apply. A thriving second-hand industry actually adds value to what was originally bought by allowing people to sell their stuff back at a fairly good price, not the full amount mind you. If it were as big a problem as you think it was, then all of the major video-game magazines would be running headlines about it on a near weekly basis and the fact that they do not means it is not.
  22. How many times have we stated that it is not stealing? Really? How so? You take something without paying for it and give it to other people for free when it isn't yours to give? I think that's stealing. http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/steal [hide=]intransitive verb 1: to take the property of another wrongfully and especially as a habitual or regular practice 2: to come or go secretly, unobtrusively, gradually, or unexpectedly 3: to steal or attempt to steal a base transitive verb 1 a: to take or appropriate without right or leave and with intent to keep or make use of wrongfully b: to take away by force or unjust means c: to take surreptitiously or without permission d: to appropriate to oneself or beyond one's proper share : make oneself the focus of 2 a: to move, convey, or introduce secretly : smuggle b: to accomplish in a concealed or unobserved manner 3 a: to seize, gain, or win by trickery, skill, or daring bof a base runner : to reach (a base) safely solely by running and usually catching the opposing team off guard[/hide] Now, tell me how making a perfect copy relates to stealing? and after that....read this http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin ... 04.105.pdf and then tell me the difference. [hide=]ยง 1322. Injunctions (a) IN GENERAL.A court having jurisdiction over actions under this chapter may grant injunctions in accordance with the principles of equity to prevent infringement of a design under this chapter, including, in its discretion, prompt relief by temporary restraining orders and preliminary injunctions. (B) DAMAGES FOR INJUNCTIVE RELIEF WRONGFULLY OBTAINED.A seller or distributor who suffers damage by reason of injunctive relief wrongfully obtained under this section has a cause of action against the applicant for such injunctive relief and may recover such relief as may be appropriate, including damages for lost profits, cost of materials, loss of good will, and punitive damages in instances where the injunctive relief was sought in bad faith, and, unless the court finds extenuating circumstances, reasonable attorneys fees.[/hide] I'm willing to bet they didn't provide a shred of evidence on any accounts for this particular section of the DMCA.
  23. The quickest way I can think of to make an annotated genome would be to advance our knowledge of cloning, which in turn would speed up the "former" as you said fastortoise.
  24. Hmm...at the rate we are going I would give it another 30 years to see significant effects and an additional 20 before we see mass tailored drugs. The additional 20 being for the conversion of the factories themselves to be able to handle such a burden.
  25. You really haven't been following this closely have you? Stuff like this has been going on for awhile. People just migrate to different programs, so these scare tactics don't really work. Then they announced they'd be taking a new approach, I guess that didn't work too well. I follow this stuff as closely as the OP gives. This seems to happen all the time, yes. Pirating sites are constantly shut down, and more pop up. I understand how that works. But no one has ever killed themselves over it. Eventually I think the law is just going to have to let it go. That's my ideal anyway. The bolded part right there is the problem though, as groups like the MPAA/RIAA, who don't actually own the copyrights, are constantly pushing for laws that are entirely in favor of the companies who produce the goods and in turn make it harder for the consumer to do things with their legally purchased stuff. Their latest stunt is with the ACTA that no one outside of the industry is privy to. Now, if the lobbyists for these groups were to up and disappear we would be fine as the law would end up being changed to be a compromise for both the consumer and companies, but until then we have things like below happening. http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2008 ... o-late.ars [hide=]Here is a look at the data EA provided, although it stresses that these numbers are a sample and shouldn't be taken as indicative of total sales: * Total activations: 437,138 * Users activating on only 1 machine: 86 percent * Users activating on more than 1 machine: 14 percent * User trying to activate on more than 3 machines: 0.4 percent If this data is to be believed, the newly implemented five-install limit should be more than enough to keep customers happy, along with the to-be-released deauthorization system. Still, the very idea of any kind of limit seems to gall many gamers, who believe this system turns their game purchases into glorified rentals. It's likely these new "loosened" restrictions will be hit with the same vitriol.[/hide] Those kind of limitations are what drive people to pirate. This includes, but is not limited to: a dvd only being able to play on a certain player, this includes being restricted by region, music that has been ripped from a cd once and from that point forward can't be backed up(totally legal to back things up via the DMCA), among many other things.
