  1. I do not know how the global line is going up when most of the other lines are in a steady decline. Could someone help me to understand this as it makes the global one feel very skewed? Maybe i am not looking hard enough..........
  2. The first number is in and boy am I surprised at this; pay-to-play has a full 16% on free-to-play. To be honest I would have thought that the percentage would have been the other way around beings as FTP is larger in population.overall. I will need help with the 6 a.m. slot as I am usually asleep at that time and sometimes up through the 12 p.m. slot as well which could end up skewing the numbers abit if they are missed and therefore causing us to fill in the gaps with a rough estimation. Here is what I did to get the numbers: added up all the PTP and FTP worlds seprately and added them together to get the total and thus finally using the total to get the percentage that I needed. Here is how the numbers should look if you plan on submitting for one of the six hour intervals. Total - total population - PTP- total number for members - %total and FTP - total number for Free players - %total The next interval is in 5 hours and 22 minutes
  3. If you would kindly read the thread again you will see that it says "It will most likely take at least two weeks to begin drawing any conclusions from these numbers. Thus any discussion that can be made in this thread will be postponed until we have at least two weeks worth of numbers."
  4. I seem to be having trouble finding the "population thread" that "jessy07" mentioned; if anyone is willing please send me a pm with the link to that particular thread. Since alot of people are "supposedly" quitting due to the wilderness and trade updates; I thought we could keep track of how many people are playing at almost any given time. This in turn should provide the information needed in order to make any conclusions as to if the population is falling overall. It will most likely take at least two weeks to begin drawing any conclusions from these numbers. Thus any discussion that can be made in this thread will be postponed until we have at least two weeks worth of numbers. Since Jagex is located in Britain we shall be basing the numbers off "-0 GMT" which is, wouldn't you know it, the numbers they go by. All numbers should be six hours apart which will note these time frames: low peak, rising- peak, high-peak, and waning-peak. As such all numbers shall begin on January 8 at precisely midnight, give or take a minute or two to page loading on their main site. and every six hours after. The numbers: each spoiler tag denotes 7 days. 5. And would you like to enlighten us with those ways? Selling accounts and powerleveling on already existing accounts. Joys of jagex being able to ip log huh? This wont last before yet again jagex put their foot in it.. I respect what they have done, they have kept to one of their first promises that being "Every gamer being equal, and their outside lifestyle not effecting their gaming experience" or something like that. If they wanted for players to buy gold they would have sold it through their website. As for the loss of pking, and duel arena and merchanting well nows the time to actually see if you can use the skills that jagex has invested alot of time in. Im sure soon enough their will be a nice way to make money. Internet provider address banning is completely ineffective. Dial-up users woud be banned on sight if they banned by IP as they receive a different IP address every time they sign on. Furthermore, IP ban by country forget about it as there are still proxy servers located outside that country that would still allow them to play and thus rendering the original ban useless and keeping out all of the legitimate players who know not of such things, in simpler terms the less computer savvy. In effect RWT will live on guaranteed. Another thing is that account selling and power-leveling is near non-traceable save for the fool that brags about doing it.

Everyone has an aptitude for specific things in this world and it usually takes quite a long while, some never find where their aptitude is highest. In your case I would continue doing what you are doing for another year or so and if you find yourself not improving after that period it is time to mnove on and to possibly keep it as a hobby or something like it.
  7. If you are unsure of where a game lies in the gaming community as a whole please refer to http://gamefaqs.com or http://cheatcc.com and any other official sources out there.
  8. The legend of zelda series is classed in the genre - Adventure. Pokemon may have many rpg elements, but I would not class it as one as the games themselves have very little storyline to them and thus end up being classed in the same genre as the LoZ series. lets see: 1. Final Fantasy VI- for its insane villain Kefka Palazzo, well-developed characters out of any game thus far in the industry, and for it being the only game in the Super Nintendo line to produce movie-like script as well as with the graphics being some of the highest there was at the time. This game also produced rumors that Squaresoft at the time was making a Final Fantasy movie. Its musical score is also noted as Nobuo Uematsu's best work. next in the line-up is. 2. Final Fantasy I - although many games before this one had produced character classes this one in particular further refined them where most if not all Rpgs follow this model now. This would have been the last game that Squaresoft produced had it not thrived. Also in parallel it would have been the head producers last game as well. Upcoming next would-be 3. Lufia II - for its magnificently done 99 floor dungeon which many games have tried to emulate over the years. such things that the dungeon in this game that made it so challenging was that a person is literally forced to know the weaknesses of each and every monster. Another thing is that a person was forced to make decisions on what weapons and armor would go on which character. Healing items as well as spells were scarce which further added to the challenge. The final thing about this dungeon was the ultimate goal of collecting all of the Iris treasures which could either be done in one go or be done over the course of ones entire life due to the sheer randomness. I wonder who will be next in our line-up...... 4. Final fantasy VII - its on many a list, but few note that this particular game is what brought video-games mainstream. though some us do like to nitpick at some of its in adequcies such as this line from the game "This guy are sick." The plotline in this game is also one of the best out there with the character cloud being torn between his illusions of the stories his friend Zack told him, which lead us to believe that Cloud falls for Aeris whom later dies, and his real meories which have been overtaken by them. Although many of tthe games fans will flame me for this Sephiroth is but a failed attempt at bringing an insane villain like Kefka back. Last but not least we bring to the floor....*drum roll* 5. Legend of Legaia - well-written storyline with alot of character interaction as well as having alot of back-story to the main storyline. The difficulty stays constant no matter the level as long as the "point card" is not used. it also has an unique way to gain spells by using Holy seru known as "Ra-seru". The best spells in the game can only be gotten after a certain point in the game as well as a secret one, the end all be all spell in the game, which is only attainable at lvl99 with all characters. there is one extra boss which is by no means a joke, neither is the main storyline final boss. Unfortunately this games successor fell flat on its face by not continuing the storyline of the original, they couldn't anyway. well this wraps up why chose these games.
  9. This idea for the banking system is long overdue in Runescape and thus I support this effort to have it implemented. From a programming standpoint I am thinking that it would take about 3 months to implement this into the game
  10. Just like there is literally NO use on f2p for limpwurts (dropped by Hill Giants) aside from selling them. :-w With a limpwurt root and a spider egg you can goto the apothcracy in varrock and trade them for strength potions, 4 dose of course.
  11. Dancing Mad - Nobou Uematsu This song fits the dooms day scenario quite well.
  12. The last time non-members received extra bank space was when adamant arrows, mithril arrows, and maple longs and shorts bows were made available. In fact, we received 12 bank spaces then too. Therefore, I have come to the logical conclusion that a tiny, and I do mean tiny, fraction of summoning will be available to non-members.
  13. Merchanting rune scimitars is still possible and all the other rune items are still possible because "you" as a "merchant" are providing the convience by saving them a trip to the "Grand Exchange." I began merchanting rune scimitars the day the "Grand Exchange" came out and began with 80k and as of now I have profited close to 700k. This course happened because I needed to gain back the 1100k+ I lost on the currently crashing Nature runes. Not only is merchanting not dead, but we are still providing the same things we did before and that thing is ""convience." *edited in after* watch me in-game if you need any proof.
  14. Rune mining is actually the worst way to make money in ftp since you have to constantly world-hop for it to be an effective money-maker. I would suggest going after zamorak wines since you can make a guranteed 90-110k+ profit an hour.
  15. that was a great party and hope to see more in the future. If you ever find yourself fishing why not join me in world 15 in edgeville.
  16. Omali said: He is right this thread does fail. 1. just like he said 2. gives you the option to offer beggars your skills and if they refuse they can not complain(they couldn't anyway). 3. However small the trust-trade scam market was it still helps by eliminating it entirely. 4. Players have been asking for updates like this and the "Great Exchange" for years. There is only one downside to this and that is you cannot move while assisting someone.
  17. Just so you know, Jagex has around 144 servers. They can't hold 400k+ now, and there's no way in hell they could before. You're exaggerating too much, and 200k is still a large number. I just checked right now on the RS front page. 178,365 people playing. And that's with all their servers being used at 800+ population. If you know anything, the numbers have been growing. So stop pulling your numbers from thin air. Okay you caught me in a gross exaggeration, but still the numbers are going down instead of up. Starting mid-2005 the numbers started staying above 120k+ at almost all hours of the day and night. Beginning early 2006 the numbers were still on a serious upsurge and were starting to reach 180k+ on peak-hours and was still staying 100k+ on off-hours. I do not even see it break 200k anymore even on peak-hours which suggests to me the games growth is actually slowing down. As of 2:07 a.m. (-5 gmt) there are currently 83,109 players on. This is quite low when compared to 2006 and 2005 numbers. Hmm.... I wonder if I can google precise numbers that far back. The "Connection Lost" thing was almost non-existant until around late-2005. I think this started happening right around when "player-owned cats" were introduced. The vast majority are quite fed up that Runescape just loses its connection at random times.
  18. My advice is to leave the "top" on or they will end up jumping out of the tank and if you go on vacation you will find them both on the floor covered in ants.
  19. The most extreme thing I can think of is to entirely rework all of the currently existing laws on both sides of the spectrum. If that is not a feasible idea I would suggest a scrapping all existing laws inplace and to start off from scratch so as all the laws will be up-to-date with todays times.
  20. Now that I have a general Idea of where you are coming from on this topic we can really begin to discuss the topic here. That wikipedia article is so negative there is no room to laugh even if it is true. This is considering that the article itself has been through over 10 revisions since it was put up and it still is only covering the basic things that "trade unions" are mainly used for. In all, it really should not be a summary of all the other sources that it cites and instead should cover what could possibly be 20-30 pages on written paper. Looking at "The Washington Post" article I can clearly see where you get the corruption factor now. Yes, for the most part that is the only thing unions serve now and have become just like the things they have so dearly fought against. What must be realized and was said in a previous post is that if the CEOs("Corporate Executive Officers" for those who don't know) of all these companies were to cut back on their salaries, there would be no need to cut-back on retirees benefits in the slightest. This last sentence is assuming both sides can get over their "ego's" anytime soon. What we need to have these days is unions that specialize in specific skill areas in order to better negotiate the needs of the people they represent. yes, I do realize that this would bring us back to the days of the guilds, but when you think about it it allows for more leeway in matters of negotiation in todays "North American" societies.
  21. You lost all credibility when you failed to learn to read! I'm a she. And I'm not looking to get rid of the unions entirely but rather for some reform where they have a little less power. If you are going to quote me then quote me in entirety, otherwise you are twisting my words. We still do not know which article you used for that first post. That was the only part of your post that pertained ti Wiki...how is that twisting your post? Also, I thought it was fairly obvious what wiki pages I was looking at. Hint: type in labor/trade unions.... Yes, I can type those in all day , labor/trade unions, but that does not mean I will end up looking at the specific articles you ended up looking at. Is a link to the specific articles you used too much to ask?

  23. 1. Their facts are usually never wrong. This is internet debate, not real debate. 2. I never said they should disband overnight! I said we can do a better job with what the unions are doing with lets say "labor laws". They reason unions are hated so much is because their bargains can be UNREAL, and they refuse to negotiate. A simple GM employee "If the deal is ratified by UAW members, the company said it expects to save $3 billion a year before taxes in health care costs"(Washington Post). A simple cut saves them 3 billion! "Hourly workers at GM currently have no deductibles and pay no monthly premiums but do have nominal co-payment charges. Overall, they pay about 7 percent of their health care costs; the national average is about 34 percent." (Washington Post). They are literally forcing companies out of business. 3. Fantastical law-making skills 4. OK 1. see # 3 2. Or we can set standards and not force companies out of business by asking ridiculous amounts of money.... 3. Past tense = irrelevant 4. Or we can have a set workday. 5. That was then. They may have been great in the past but work ethics should be in place right now.[/i] 1. How do you know if they're 'usually' right? Do you have any proof? 3. I don't understand what you mean by 'fantastical law-making skills', and I'm, pretty sure most people don't, so that is a drop, then? 1. See #3 2. Wouldn't that just make the whole country one big union? 3. And his point is that this would happen again if conditions became the same as then. 4. See #2. 5. Again, this will happen AGAIN if unions are taken away. He is saying what happened without unions that unions helped fix. 1. By only using wikipedia as the only source he or she has completely discredited himself/herself as being capable to debate in this topic. Just because this is the internet does notn mean that this debate is any less meaningful to the future of unions and he/she does not seem to understand that. 2. one of his or her "negative" points is actually a positive effect of unions. 3 I have read some of the laws on "labor" and trust me they are not easy to read with all the business jargon mixed in. 4. the past is always relevent to this debate which only further hurts his or her arguement on the matter 5. The vast majority of profit lost is not through the unions, but through the CEOs of these companies that make upwards of $1-$100+ million/year. Thank you for clearing that up for him/her Superson. Although, I do not think he/she quite understands the points I am still trying to make since he or she is apparently living some in faraway place where none of this happens. I will add some countries with some very poor "labor" laws or rather an area where there tend to be poor laws/no laws on the matter. Area: 1.Indonesian Countries- south of china, southeast of India, and northwest of Australia. the vast majority of those countries have little or no labor laws.
  24. There is also another point I would like to bring up and that worker wages themselves and how they are not keeping with inflation. In some areas of the U.S. you need a wage of $13.00+ just to make ends meet and the vast amount of companies "do not" accept any sort of smaller profit margin in the slightest.
  25. Business ethics and work ethics are two completely different things and only one resulted in the formation of unions. Business ethics is the ability to operate within the bounds of the law while treating the labours in the workplace with respect they deserve. The total lack of business ethics is why unions came about in the first place. When the workers are not respected they are bound to rebel at some point. If you look around in both the U.S. and Canada you will see that quite a few companies work outside of the law not because they are losing money, but because they want to make more money by circumventing the law. This is all without dealing with the hassle of unions ,and since the U.S. and Canada are both capitalist societies, this is actually quite easy since the laws will tend to take the side of the larger companies. Case in point look at what the CEOs of Enron did to its own employees. Companies like this one is why unions form and large amount of companies were even withholding wages on a constant basis during pre-union days, in fact I think places like that can still be found all over both the U.S. and Canada even if they are not "illegal immigrants". Work Ethics on the otherhand is the ability to do your job while both seeing that the labours job gets done while making sure both the rules of that workplace and the laws of the area are enforced. Yes, making sure the laws are being abided by is a part of any workers "work ethic". There is also a strong correlation to "work ethic" going down when the workers of that environment are not respected in the least.
