Windows 7 beta
Don't compare Vista and Windows 7 to each other, they may look similar, but they are very different beasts under the hood.

Windows 7 beta
I think the licence will last about 7 months. More news, Fable works on Windows 7, I never got Fable to run on Vista.

Windows 7 beta
Well, BioShock works on it with full DX10 texture support, I'm running it with all options at max and at a Resolution of 1440x900 and it's very very smooth :)

Actually if you're that paranoid you can easily create a standard user account as your working account, but being logged in as an Admin is fine as UAC takes care of you, unless you're daft enough to turn UAC off that is :D

Monitor screen flickering. PROBLEM SOLVED (kinda)
It's flickering because it's set to 60Hz which is too slow, try upping the refresh rate to 75Hz or 80Hz.

Earphone help? [unsolved, help please]
Sounds like the speakers have a faulty socket. How it normally works is when you plug something in the plug dis-engages two contacts which are normally fed to the amps for the speakers. It sounds like one of the connections is either faulty or wired incorrectly. This is just an initial diagnosis.

Mah Scanner is Broked... Please Halp!
Check if you are running out of disk space on drive C, sounds very much like a virtual memory problem! I suggest deleting temporary files etc.

Fix my Computer please?
As with all the previous posts, find out what fan is failing and replace it. It's more likely to be the one on the CPU or graphics card are they are the ones that take the most heat. But that is not always the case.

xcopy batch for backups problem
OK, you can convert the drive to NTFS by doing the following: 1. Click Start and type CMD into the run box and press ENTER. 2. type CONVERT R: /FS:NTFS replacing R: with the drive you want to convert. 3. Press ENTER. This will convert a FAT32 drive to NTFS.

Which brand should i trust the most for a quality desktop
I would go for a Toshiba, we have supplied hundreds and they are the brand we see less of from a fault perspective. Also, when they do go wrong, parts are generally cheaper.

Is this Possible?
Myself I prefer Ultra-VNC that works on just about everything.

XP SP3 - Worth it or not? [Fixed]

monitors
Some of the older TFTs had a slow refresh rates, and in games where you had fast action going on you would get blurring. If you're basing your dislike of TFT screens on older models, then you need to update. New TFTs are much more vibrant, have fast refresh times and are pretty stunning in my books. Still, I can't wait for OLED to become more mainstream, now THAT'S where the future of screen technology is.

php help required
You could use global variables, they will be accessible to the whole script: Any variables you wish to be global just declare them at the beginning of your PHP script like this: global $Fred; This declares the variable $Fred as global, and can then be accessed by any function etc.

BIOS beeps
Er nope, the way a PC works is that it does a Pre Operative System Test (POST) before anything else and then beeps the errors to the speaker (NOT the sound card), so why does it do this? Well this is how a PC POSTs: 1: Check BIOS/CPU 2: Check BASE 640K RAM 3: Check Video If any of the above fails, the ONLY way to alert the reason for the failure is to send tones to the built in speaker output, if all the above passes then the PC can assume you're getting video output and then any errors are sent to the display. I have questions: Are the beeps longe or quick, are they high or low tones, plus are they all the same length in time? Can you record them somehow and post the wav/mp3?

looks okay to me, unless the keylogger is much smarter and loading in as a driver (Which is highly unlikely) I would think you're save.

STUPID NERO ESSENTIALS!
Did you know you can also temporary disable autorun by holding down one of the shift keys when you insert the CD-ROM?

STUPID NERO ESSENTIALS!
Okay try this: 1. Open My Computer. 2. Click the Tools drop down menu and select Folder Options. 3. Click the File Types Tab. 4. Scroll down until you find the CDA Extension, Highlight it and click Advanced. 5. Remove all actions except for play, Highlight play and click Edit. If play isn't there then click New. 6. The properties should be like the following image: 7. Save that and reboot.

New play thing; netbook, pda or other.
I will let you know when we have played with KnoppixMythTV, probably this weekend :) 2 Wiz's, I know, I couldn't believe it when I got the email this morning, I can't wait to see the difference between the pre production and production models :) You're right about Bioshock, it's utterly mental, and I will be sure to download the latest patches :)

I've got everything to work with MythTV with the exception of the TV tuner. MythTV works great for ripping and playing DVD's and CD's, but it doesn't seem to support UK analogue TV too well. Plus it turns out I ordered the new "works with Vista" card which is having some issues with Linux. After thinking about the project again I though I would give it another go, so I've repartitioned the drives and split the media from the OS.Then made a new installation the OS but I'm still having a few issues with the TV card. :wall: If I can't fix it by next week I'm moving back to XP. I am trying KnoppixMythTV, I have installed it but haven't had time to configure it yet. I'm a busy girl at the moment with the Wiz, Christmas and a new game I have called Bioshock :D

Yep the Pandora is going to be the must have gadget of next year. My Wiz is still really kewl, they have now decided to scrap the current launcher software as the people writing it in flash 3D were having problems. GPH have now updated the Flash version to 8 or 9 and are going with a 2D launcher instead. But of course, you can replace that with your own if you wish :) I got an email from them today saying that they will be sending me a another Wiz next week with updated hardware/firmware and the new buttons so I can beta test the final versions of the firmwares etc. I will let you know what the finished product will be like if you want. Mini Cinema sounds kewl, what you going to be using for the back end, GB-PVR, MythTV? I am currently using GB-PVR but am trying to get MythTV working correctly.
