  1. Or you could try fn+prt sc if that doesn't work.
  2. The OS has nothing to do with it in this case. If you wanted to get technical, OSX probably would help with Runescape, because of the way it "flushes" processes. And then there is the matter that it's not resource heavy, like Vista is. 10.4 is Mac OS X Tiger. Apple has since only come out with Mac OS X Leopard, which is about to be replaces by Snow Leopard in the first quarter of 09. There's many more variables. I'm running Vista Home Premium 32 bit. 1.6GHz Centrino Duo 2 GB of RAM My computer is a tad less capable than his. Yours, I can't really compare, since I don't know your processor. I'm assuming Pentium 4 and Windows XP?
  3. Wow. My computer is equal to that, and I can't run anything like that. :|
  4. It's possible, but don't expect anything revolutionizing. You could save up and get more bang for your buck. Try and get a discrete graphics card with at least 256mb of memory. EDIT: Now I'm almost fairly certain that the OP's computer doesn't match Runescape's requirements. Tiger, the minimal OS that it is, is sharing Runescape's graphics alongside it. Your processor and RAM just can't handle that amount of instability, and won't let you play it.
  5. Even if you got it to work, it's not going to play any game very well. 1Ghz and 256mb of RAM is well, terrible these days. Sorry. :?
  6. I laughed. English is one of the harder languages to learn, for a start. Why don't you go learn another language or two, see how easy it is in a short period of time. You shouldn't talk about things you don't know anything about, it makes you look like an idiot -romanian: first language, much harder than english -french: learning for 10 years, still can't handle it well -japanese: I know several words, not that hard except characters are way beyond hard learning, and the grammar doesn't make much sence -english: learned in 2-3 years from watching tv when ~10 years old, back when I didn't even had english in school Seriously? People consider English one of the harder languages. http://mistupid.com/facts/page016.htm Don't tell a company to force their consumers to learn a new language to play their game. No, if I am going to play their game, they are going to cater to my needs to play the game.
  7. viewtopic.php?f=30&t=772526&start=100 Ah, good 'ol irony.
  8. I'm all for gay marriage and I'm certainly not going to say that homosexuality is wrong. Who am I to say that one's beliefs are wrong?
  9. Ok, have you recently downloaded Chrome? Or rather, did you use Chrome to play Runescape before? It doesn't handle Java as well as Firefox or Opera at the moment.
  10. Computer specs? Have you tried updating Java? Have you played HD FS before?
  11. Did you test Chrome now that it's out of Beta? They say it's 1.4-1.5X as fast as before.
  12. A tradable glitch you mean : Regardless, I wouldn't go advertising that you have one.
  13. That would be called a glitch, not a discontinued item.
  14. Very, I'm impatient. Chrome doesn't fair to well with Java though (and spell check!). :? I usually use both, one for each monitor for various tasks.
  15. viewtopic.php?f=45&t=590629
  16. I could be possible that Jagex manipulated that market themselves. Or, perhaps you are onto something.
  17. Ok, thank you. I feel that I can make a more informed decision now. Thank you, everyone.
  18. It's not too difficult, especially if the bays are pointing to the outside. Mine just pop right out. :P
  19. No, they relieve the cpu when you play a movie and offer quite good performance. Nvidia 8-3/4 series? There's barely any difference in performance between Nvidia's and ATI's performance in video-playback at those lower-end cards (altho ATI usually is a tiny bit better). If she's getting the 512mb card will help along in the playback. It's noth price-worthy for her to get a better card than this... Since she'd have to change the psu aswell, in such a case a custom-build will be much better. So would the 256mb card also help, compared to a integrated card? If it reaches its 256gmb limit, will it offload onto the system memory?
  20. But would that card need a new PSU as well? If not, it's perfect, I think. The PSU in the system is like 300 watts. :| But yeah, I won't be doing much gaming, media at the most, such as movie playing/making. If it's that easy as you say, I might as well. I found that on one of the reviews, granted it got 1/3 approvals...
  21. If you buy a very powerful card it will require it's own power supply, but in general, installing the card in the AGP slot is something even a child could do. DVI and HDMI are the same thing and are encoded in the same way, they just use a different connector (HDMI also carries audio). You can connect DVI to HDMI and the other way around without any kind of converter. In reality there is no performance difference. Some devices like your monitor may transmit better quality image through either one of them, but they are essentially identical. You can get a 22" Acer monitor for 30 bucks less on Newegg. Get Diamond Viper Radeon 3450, it costs $38 and is identical to the one offered by Dell. You can also alternatively get a significantly better Sapphire Radeon 512MB card for $57. Thanks, that was a big help! I took a look at the monitor, which is pretty good. But, it has a smaller resolution, and doesn't support HDMI, which isn't that big of a deal, I'm just looking to future proof my investment for as long as I can. Also, are there any other better graphics cards you would suggest for $60? Or would the 3450 suffice for limited gameplay (again, back to future proofing my investment :? )? But would that card need a new PSU as well? If not, it's perfect, I think. 22. So, I was looking at the Dell Inspiron 518 (http://configure.us.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?c=us&l=en&s=dhs&cs=19&oc=DDDOOH3) (Quad Core Q6600), and while I know people will say to build my own computer, I don't feel comfortable with it. So, Dell wants $60 for an ATI Raedon 3450, but I found that on Newegg for $20-30. So my question, should I go with the $60 3450, or buy another from Newegg for $60 that's better. If I should buy from Newegg, what would you suggest? I'm looking for something with VGA and DVI as well as HDMI. I'm just not sure what makes a graphics card better than another, such as: Core clock Stream Processors Memory Clock DirectX OpenGL http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010380048%204026&name=$50%20-%20$75 Also, is putting in a GPU easy, like memory? Oh, and my budget is kind of limited, so I was thinking $70 should be the max. :? This is a bit off topic, but I was thinking that this monitor was a sweet deal, am I right (I was looking for a new one anyways)? Is there any benefit using an HDMI cable with it, rather than DVI? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236053
  23. I agree, it's very much like trial and error. The point of the GWD is danger, and in turn, good rewards. The player needs to find out first hand how to handle each situation, setting up a guide can't explain anything but the bare basics, which can be found in the KB anyways, or as you said, other players.
  24. Maybe he doesn't know how to build a computer. Personally I'd go with HP, very reliable. HP just tried to hard to turn computers into eye candy, which is swell if you want something in say, your living room. But you could easily get the same specs from Dell much cheaper, without the glossy case. Acer has cheap computers, and a lowsy custom support, as well as using cheap parts. All in my experience at least. I'm still leaning towards Dell, since the government/U.S Military largely uses them, surely there's a reason behind that. Any of those brands are reliable though, it all comes down to preference and cost. If your looking for award winning customer support however, Apple is surely the winner.
