  1. I love the overwhelming bias of the article. It is as if the author never drew a conclusion or backed up his reasoning. You say sudoku is a time waster, when many scientists link it to a hierarchy of thinking. Perhaps the author should actually play these "games" for more than ten minutes before they come to a conclusion that they are a waste of time. To put simply, life could be related as a waste of time. If you are not "wasting time" to have fun or do what you enjoy, what else are you possibly doing that does not allow you to do so? To be conclusive, I failed to see that article on the list. What could possibly be the point of reading an article about things that waste your time?
  2. Yeah, I see no reason to "upgrade" to dragon armour, when Barrows is perfectly fine and cheaper. It's armour for the rich who want to flaunt their wealth, not for the average person to use.
  3. I never found it as an insult. If anything, I always chuckle when someone calls me it. Because, ironically they are doing something in a less efficient manner, and tell me my way is inefficient.
  4. Do you mind using Ubuntu? Or is it XP you're looking for?

XD Good thing I asked it to be blocked right when you posted that >_> Sorry, I have nothing against you as a person or what say you, I just don't believe it required a topic. :?
  6. I was kinda thinking the same thing. Either way, we always strive for more. Back then we didn't care about pollution. The benefits outweigh the risk imo.
  7. Exactly. This would mean that skills that society deems as hard of skillful are all equal to each other, which isn't the case.

  9. Mmm, I'm loving the Dell Black Friday deals. Considering buying a new computer. =P~
  10. But that's the thing, it's not that many, especially for Vista. I run that with 1GB RAM and worse processor. More than likely it's a negligible amount that could pose future problems later on. And by permanent, I don't mean that is't not going to stay off the startup, I'm saying that he's going to be starting up those processes later, and if not, he might as well uninstall them rather than just configuring with startup. On top of that, his memory and CPU usage are fine in the task manager, so changing the startup shouldn't aid with lag.
  11. It's not going fix his lag problem, as they don't take up that much memory. What do you expect his startup to look like? Mine has: Windows Defender Synaptics Pointing Device HP Wireless Java Intel Intel Intel Intel AVG MobileMe QuickTime iTunes Google Update Microsoft Windows Microsoft Windows Yeah, none of those take up that much memory, that I would consider disabling, such as QuickTime. It's not a permanent solution, because you'll end up restarting those processes laster, when you're already using the CPU and RAM, making it even slower.
  12. All of them would make his computer unbootable in Windows. Even then, items like Java, antivirus, and CPU shouldn't be touched. I wouldn't even recommend touching startup or msconfig for his problem. nope, windows automatically turns on the crucial-to-windows startup programs, even when turned off, like explorer[Caution: Executable File], etc As for Vista, it does not have msconfig utility, just an app through the control panel Vista has msconfig. And even if it did boot there would be no point, as it's just the backbone, so you say. That would make it even worse. Having Aim, msn browser and all the others not starting at start-up would make it worse? How so? Because his problem wasn't for start ups. He seems like he wants MSN anyways. Closing startup problems doesn't fix the problem, it's just like a patch. Sure the startup would be faster, but it would be negligible or even more when he tries to restore those processes. So if he's playing Runescape, and wants to talk to friends, he's obviously going to have MSN and Java on for startup. I don't see AIM, and I doubt his browser is starting up on startup. The amount of lag would be negligible for the rest, such as Quicktime, etc, that takes up little room.

  15. http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/s ... co=MTE3MjA 1. Longetivity 4.5 hours of battery life on the integrated GPU 2. Performance (not gaming-oriented*) It does have a Nvidia GPU, and an Intel Core 2 Duo, with 2GB of RAM. 3. WiFi with at least WPA1 support is a must Built-in AirPort Extreme Wi-Fi wireless networking2 (based on IEEE 802.11n draft specification); IEEE 802.11a/b/g compatible 4. Bluetooth support would be an advantadge Built-in Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR (Enhanced Data Rate) 5. No lame 1.3Mpix webcams 2.0 built in webcam 6. If suggesting a precompiled (I don't know the exact word) laptop, please, please do not suggest ones with Vista Mac OSX 10.5 7. No netbooks Nope Not sure if you were looking at Macs, but they're sturdy and light (with the new way to create their laptops from a single block of aluminum). And if you don't like Vista, it's a perfect option.
  16. You can't go wrong either way. But I must be the only one who actually likes the blue. :?
  17. It slows the site, which can ultimately turn away newcomers, making Facebook lose possible visitors. By your means as well, I could say that other privately owned companies infringe the first amendment because they don't allow curse words. It's the same concept. We don't want to hear your foul mouth, as well as see your Viagra ads. Would you honestly stay on Facebook if four out of five messages and comments were from people you didn't know advertising?
  18. While I agree with you somewhat, there's a massive difference. A single message takes kilobytes or more to produce, now multiple that by the amount of people he sent it to. It takes up unneeded server space, and caused "traffic jams." Someone preaching on the street corner doesn't do that. Also worth noting is that it's probably in the Code of Conduct that you shouldn't spam.
  19. No, the other screen will still show what is on it. The only thing is if you go to click and use something on the otherscreen (like firefox) it will minimize your game if it isn't in windowed mode. I used my second screen all the time to show ventrilo. When I use to play Runescape HD Fullscreen, the other one went black. Likewise when using Windows Media Player. Does it depend on the application then? As some of the time it does do as you described.
  20. Got a 4.8 I believe, when I graduated. Finished 3rd in my class.
  21. Boxers of course. :twss:
  22. Haha, I'm running Vista ultimate with aero and all only running 49 processes \ 76 is pretty average though, I just like tweaking my OS and stripping it down as much as I can keeping the eyecandy. Wow, I have like 80, and I don't have many running apps other than AVG, which takes up 3. :( Makes me miss XP.
  23. You'd think so, but it doesn't really. For example, I have an integrated graphics card, and it works fine. Although I'm not sure, I don't think 3D effects works on multiple monitors with one graphics card, however.
  24. Your CPU and memory usage looks fine there. 76 processes is pretty average for Vista, so it should come as no surprise. You could always disable Aero, the glassy look in Vista. Freed up like 8% of my memory. Also worth noting that it went down even farther when I switched from GUI to Performance modes. But then again, you have 3GB. :? Dunno why it would have been less laggy before, did you download anything new? As said earlier, RSHD will always take up a lot of resources, just because of Java.
  25. Start>Control Panel>Default Programs>AutoPlay. Then just change it to the program you want it to open with. Or you could set it to "Ask me every time." Granted, I haven't touched 2000 in years.
