  1. A lesson I'm still trying to learn, never let anyone get you down; laugh.
  2. Most colleges require two years of foreign language. Some even require three. Want to work as a nurse or doctor? A lot of hospitals are only accepting employees who understand basic Spanish. Grades aren't a reflection of "smartness" but rather of effort.

I agree, noviolence is the way to go. Surely the police won't help you if you do something to him and he still will not give your ball back.
  4. I'd make sure teachers actually discipline their students, rather than be walked over. Of course this doesn't exist in all schools. Also, as someone already said, make students think on their own. I can't remember any questions that actually made me think as opposed to memorizing key facts to a subject. Sure maybe writing and part of math, but social studies and science had little thought process, at least when I went to highschool, which were three different schools I might add.

Please explain your poorly thought out statement. Likewise. How do we know what exists if we having nothing that does not exist? But he explains it better: Please explain your poorly thought out statement. It's a pretty good an' old philosophical explanation of how we define things. Basically, we define things as what is and what is not "it". Using a hypothetical should help explain it. Let's say we enter a room, and in this room there is nothing but a four-legged wooden thing with two carved planks placed perpindicular to each other atop the legs. We can look at that and call it a "chair", but with nothing else in the room of differing characteristics and no prior knowledge of such a thing we can't really understand what makes that chair a chair. Now, after much waiting and pondering, a desk is added to the room, and from this we can further understand what makes that thing in the middle of the room a chair- the desk may have four legs like the chair, but it has no set place for a person to rest on. So from that we know that a chair needs a place for a person to sit down. After a few minutes, a seat with one thin leg underneath it is added to the room. We try sitting on it, but it falls every time. After some thinking we can define another characteristic of a chair after encountering this new object- beyond having a place to sit on, a chair needs to be able to stand up under the weight of a person. With the addition of new things like couches and beds we can continue to further define what a chair is by comparing it to things it is not. Eventually this will result in a set definition for what we call a "chair". Basically, if we can't define what something is not we can not truly define what it is.
  6. Yeah. It would have been something new despite who won, the first black president or the first (winning) party to have a women as a vice president. Either way, I think that this election has changed the thought that you have to be a white male to run for office. Honestly, I thought I'd never see a women president. But with Hilary Clinton and Sarah Palin this year, it's just changed that.

If we wanted to prove our existence, we would have to find something that does not exist.
  9. No, but a vast majority were already born privileged. I came from an average family...slightly higher than average actually (dad makes $80,000 atm but he's a Federal employee). I am working for it, but you have to remember that I was still given opportunities that the average American is not. The average household in America makes $45,000 a year, and I'd say it's a lot lower than that simply because of the richest 5% owning more than HALF of the wealth, and 20% own over 80% of the wealth. So really, just because Bill Gates walks into a bar, not everyone is a millionaire simply because he makes billions to average everyone else out. I hope you understand what I meant by that. However, I was privileged. I didn't have to drop out of high school, and get a job, just to help my parents pay the bills. I didn't get a teenage woman pregnant, while not having received proper sexual education to know about the consequences. I didn't grow up in poverty. I didn't go to a [cabbage] high school. I was given many opportunities that I didn't work for, that many others are not given. And even I am struggling. Obama wants to raise the tax rates to LESS than that of Clinton. How is that out of hand? We had a surplus during the Clinton years, and there was a less wage gap. America currently has wage gaps worse than countries like Kenya, according to the United Nations (at least that's what we're approaching). Don't you see a problem here? The thing is, as hard as some people might work and try, it doesn't guarantee prosperity. That is the lie that is the American Dream: few live it. I'm not saying it's impossible to stay poor, but it usually is. Poor people are generally poor, because they made bad decisions, I'm not saying they were risky, but generall bad. But I wonder, how do so many poor people rise up to be rich? Simple, the gap is less existant then you guys would like to realize. I mean, it would take a lot of hard work, but it's been done before. Exactly, it's like those people who have ten children and point the finger on Bush for making them poor. There will always be extremely rich and extremely poor people. There's really no way around that, it's the way it's always been.

  11. Depending on the size, hydrochloric acid won't dissolve glass. You'd be lucky if it came out without having any tissue damaged at all. At most however, you'll get an internal cut on the intestine wall, or the rectum. You don't seem at all phased? You should honestly see a doctor, as those sensitive areas get infected quickly.

Oh, sorry. I thought you meant it was lower than that.

Like Dsavi said, I'm talking purely about the OS's hardware. For one, you can't really "improve" on a 64 bit OS's ram limit, its impossible. Likewise Vista handles 64 bit incredibly well already -- having two seperate folders, one for 32 bit and the other for 64 bit. As such 64 bit processes can run in 64 bit mode easily, and you can still run all of the 32 bit processes as well. I just don't see what there is to improve on the 64 bit portion of an OS. Improve on the actual OS, sure. Improve on various software to make it more 64 bit compatible, sure. But you can't do much to the actual core. Exactly my point. 64 bit has been around for ages, and apple is just now getting around to it. While I agree, I just question why they put that tidbit up there, the 16TB memory limit I mean. It's going to be sold only in 64-bit (perhaps higher?) but there is a smaller limit on 64-bit. They wouldn't but it up there if it was not going to be true, surely. So is there a work-around for it, or rather, how is it possible?

And I'm sure Macs can do some things Windows can't. New iMacs are said to be have a blu-ray drive, but who knows. Blu-ray hasn't hit the market hard enough yet because of sheer price. $300 for a blu-ray drive? No thanks. I'm sure we'll see blu-ray lowering prices on drives and then taking over like the change from VHS to DVD. You do know that Windows PCs had the blu-ray drive for a while? Exactly. That and she seems to think that 64 bit is something new, when windows has had it for ages. I said improves upon. As in, already had, but further developing. Both OS's have had it for awhile now, but not all applications are 64-bit ready. Thus the need for improvement. What a silly man. You do realize that what he said is entirely true? :wall: What part of 64 bit do people not understand? The code has been greatly improved upon since. That's like saying the computer I use from HP is a computer made by Dell 10 years ago. Of course it's going to be the same fundamental difference. And while I understand 64-bit and its limit, why exactly would they put up false information, that has been there for a year and no one suggesting they are wrong?
  16. Right, because I'm sure if you owned a gaming company, you'd want to hire staff who require $30,000 a year to police others, when you can get players willing to do it for free. Moderators can't mute for four days. Jagex must have saw the evidence and forgot to mention who did the mute. Well, I suppose if you got muted four times...but it'd have to be four different moderators.
  17. I'd like it better if there was an ingame timezone for all worlds. And because of this, add features that only occur at night or such. For example, muggers thieves don't come out utill night. The streets of Varrok crawl with gang members at night, along with tramps and such. Would be an epic update.
  18. I doubt they'll stay at their current price forever, might as well sell it now. What would you gain by keeping it? Maybe a few 100k at most?

Yup, unless you PK, it's worthless for practical usage.

They already sell servers, and I'm sure the limit on there can get crowded at times. Anything higher than 64GB (Mac Pro) won't really be sold by Apple (and I'm sure we all know enough not to buy RAM from them), that's more for the big companies, like Google, that need to hold websites like that. And even then we won't nearly start seeing anyone approach 16TB for common use.

What? Windows 7 is a ton of tweaks as well, you can't take hearing one part of windows 7 and simply assume that is it. Part of what they are trying to do is make it so that the OS is more intuitive to use, what with the new taskbar and all that. And really you can already watch blue ray videos with a blue ray player on a vista based (and XP I assume) computer, you already have the 64 bit capabilities (you can't just make it so that it can use "more" ram, its going to have a limitation based around the fact that it is only 64 bit). Also Windows 7 seems to be making major strides in performance and stability as well. Not as if it really needs more stability, haven't had a windows related crash in years. Speaking of macs though, the one I was using just yesterday froze up from some flash based site on firefox. And in true OSX fashion it doesn't crash, oh no, it freezes -- requiring a hard restart. I was talking about Snow Leopard, and the limit, so I hear is a theoretical 16TB. Snow Leopard isn't an entirely new GUI, like XP was to Vista; I was comparing the two. You can't watch blu-ray on Leopard, which is also what I was talking about. Again, the stability, Snow Leopard. Also, I'm sure they could be a number of variables related to the crash. Abode is supported by Mac. Who's to say that specific time wasn't the first time it crashed in years? Just a thought.

What a silly man. Hackintosh are legal if you buy your own copy of Mac OS X. Its been a good two years since I've really looked into it hackintosh so I'm not 100% sure on that. http://www.insanelymac.com/ is a site that I check biweekly and it is mainly a hackintosh website, one of the popular ones. In Snow Leopard their are some of the biggest changes since Tiger I believe. I couldn't find the exact article I was looking for but these will do: http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/08 ... _more.html http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/08 ... cocoa.html Apples does not want you to put their OS onto any other system that does not bare the Apple logo. The only way you can legally get an Mac onto a PC is to buy from Phystar. However, they've filed a lawsuit against Apple, because they thought Apple copied their version of the Mac Pro. While the two settled their difference, without going to court (Phystar knew they would lose  ), it's still not the best move to buy from them, as their company isn't a major name, and it is possible that Apple could release an update to make sure that their OS will not function without using Intel processors, or other differences in the two. Also, Snow Leopard isn't a major appearance change, much like Windows 7. It will primarily change how the system uses its memory, improve usage for multi processors, change from Carbon to Cocoa, improve upon OS 10.5's 64-bit capabilities, support for blu-ray, and a major limit to the capabilities of memory, up to 16TB, and most of all, improve preformance and stability.
  23. Some do, some don't. I've personally met some who do. However, I think, judging by the community, that most deserve it. But you also have to remember, player moderators are always players first. Most likely a skiller. Jagex does not pick people that have been playing for only a few days. They have obviously demonstrated good character, and a clean record; they deserve it, regardless of their combat level. Right, because doing those extra chores REALLY add to the depth of gameplay. C'mon now. Sure, it's not hard, but it's not exactly the most thrilling task in the whole world. It's tedious, regardless if you enjoy it or not. Agreed. You actually have to set a good example, even the time where you just want to make a snappy come back at the person that just called you [so and so], or that person that just crashed you at Bandos. You just suck it up, they're reacting to the crown, not you. And then there are those who decide to follow you, thinking your rich, or some other nonsense, attracting more crowds. I wouldn't say it's hard, but it certainly is more time consuming.
  24. We might as well remove cow pens as well then. Lord knows that rangers shouldn't be allowed to shoot over those. I mean, since melee can't hit them as it were, they have to run all the way to the entrance, by that time, the ranger has already teleported! No, I completely understand what you're saying, I just don't agree that it's abuse or should be removed.
  25. Zombie Monkeys are still better for people that make over like 400k(?) an hour. Even so, these are great for the average player, and even then, you don't lose any money.
