Why oh why! Higher levels left in the dust!
Drow4 replied to Atom Smash40's topic in General Discussion
the thing is, sometimes you 1 hit, sometimes you take as long as it does for gold. it makes no sense.... I have experienced this myself, I've been on both sides. (Someone lower than myself getting all the ores, someone higher than myself getting less of the ores). Maybe get Jagex to give more information on how mining works. Would be helpful to understand the process, cause this just seems like a messed up system. -

I'm not familiar with mining granite, I'm assuming it is pretty much 1 click to mine it? In that case I'd say it were internet connection affecting their ability to click or they are just naturally faster at clicking. -

What were you mining? If it was iron/something quickly mined then it is most likely a case of his internet connection/clicking speed of the rocks being faster - iron as you probably know will usually only take one click to mine, so if you're too slow to click it you won't have chance to get the ore cause it won't be there. Unless of course you were mining something mithril or higher, then it is either bad luck or bad game design. -
Slayer could use a 90+ monster with a good unique drop. A lot of people have 78+ slayer (or could quickly obtain 78 slayer) so any unique drop would be quickly hoarded and made worthless. Although I'll reserve judgement for when the update occurs, it seems unlikely just 1 slayer monster would be released, a whole range of slayer monsters will hopefully be released at once.

Maybe you went at a bad time? I got 99 fletching there in October '06 and there would be times at which it was fairly busy and others when it would just be a few other fletchers and myself. Quite possibly lost popularity due to reasons others have mentioned.

Unfortunately stereotypes exist. The level of your character should not categorize who you are or what your personality will be (e.g. a level 138 will be arrogant, a level 70 will be immature). The facts are that getting up to high level requires dedication and time. Therefore (usually) players with higher levels will be more dedicated and have more time, which means they will have more knowledge of various game aspects whether they have directly experienced them or not. This means on the whole higher leveled players will be more wise. Obvious exceptions are those who play for other gaming aspects (certain skills, mini-games etc.) who will also have dedication and time. They will have indirectly experienced a lot as well (for example a skiller may have a level 130+ friend who uses the GWD a lot, he then explains the mechanics and his tactics to the skiller friend). The wisdom and knowledge that high leveled players posses does not mean they will be 'mature'. Maturity is a completely different personality trait. In fact I'd suggest some high level players become overly competitive with each other - thus leading to arrogance and 'immaturity'. Just my thoughts.

I'd happily recoup my losses on membership in order to break even. Which would be around £100 spent on membership over 4/5 years of playing on and off. After all, my effort put into the account was for my own enjoyment and I'd feel selfish to make a profit from that.

Im suprised that so many people think it is a good month. If you actually consider these updates its pretty average, why else do you think they added the last to lines - basically to blur the reality of the month. This good update mentioned in the last sentences, whatever it is, is coming out in early 2008, so I don't really see why I would want to know about it now.

Jagex could, infact you're supposed to ask for permission to put videos on sitesl ike Youtube - Jagex could get the videos taken off if they wanted. The truth is: they don't have the time to waste going through months of legal stuff.

Where and how do you access the "Tears of Guthix style mini-game"?

The Archaeology Skill - (Surprise on Page 26!)
Drow4 replied to Outsanity's topic in RuneScape Suggestions
Excellent ideas. I'm glad you expanded the idea beyond just going around digging stuff up - with the caverns that help other skills and such. My only problem is the cape... Where does yellow and red fit in with Archaeology? Iwould have thought black and white to be better suited to this skill. Well done with this. -
There you go, from; 15-16-670-51573886.

Head: Fighter Hat Body: Fighter Torso Legs: Verac Skirt Weapon: Whip Shield: Rune Defender Amulet: Strength Gloves: "Barrows" Gloves Boots: Dragon Boots Ring: Berserker Cape: Magic Cape (t) Almost have it, just need more defender points for hat. :wall:

You also have to consider they expected to release Construction (or a skill similar to it) before the end of 2005. So that kinda messes with your pattern slightly. I would anticipate a new skill to be released before the end of 2007, I'm sure they would make it known if they planned to not introduce more skills for some time - since it has become the norm for many players.

I totally agree. Whether they did intentionally, or whether or not you actually did get black marks is irelevant in my opinion. Most people, Jagex included, have common sense. So, this would not automatically be blacklisting anyone wearing default clothing, it would be blacklisting people deliberatly pretending to be an autobot. By adding it into the rules should make it clear - then if you get banned its your own fault.
-
I better start hunting again then... thanks for pointing this out to me. :D

Yeah, but he was too lazy to look up so missed the same point. :XD: I agree with Yuffie being 1st aswell.

First to 99 Slayer was Zezima, hunter was Darkforest67 I believe - got it in like 12 days... Snake Slava or something similar to that was first AND second to 99 ranged, he created another account and got 99 ranged before anyone else when he got banned wrongly. Zezima wasn't the first to max out the (current) skill total, that was Thehate.

Looks fine to me, but I sense Jagex has just caused what the are trying to avoid... Anyone else think that this may give birth to a new scam - switching an 8 for a 0 in the trade screen...I'am sure that Jagex changed this for the more "stupid" players, but in the end it will be the "stupid" players that loose out. The irony.

Well, I'am sure they have tons of ideas and with new ideas they leave room for improvement and higher quality items (like better defenders, blood crafting and skill oppotunities beyond level 80 or so where most skills end abruptly). A Jagex mod mentioned on the RSOF once (in response to a thread concerned RuneScape 3) that they have many ideas and areas to work on that will keep them busy with RuneScape (2) for a long time yet. Obviously they must limit the amount of updates every month and year, so an idea they have tomorrow may not make it into the game for years. A slow bleed of gradual smart updates is what is needed and is (generally) what they are doing.

Where Have All the Generous People Gone too?
Drow4 replied to Andrew_s_2's topic in General Discussion
You really cut off your nose to spite your face there... Telling them it could've been prevented if they spared 4 hides is also a kinda weird thing to say, sounds like something the mafia would come out with... :P They probably needed the hides (that is why they were there) and simply decided to get best out of the situation, as all people instinctivly do. In some cases people use a friendlier judgement, that just was not meant to be in your case. -
My favourite account names (that I own): Purged_Lemon Level__Four *Is a level 4 account* :) I7angerous *Dangerous* :

Yes, I remember reading that method somewhere, 12 million is a nice save. Unsure about the time difference though, but surely it would be similar...
