I don't want to show Runescape in a good light. I only tryed WoW because of this BS upgrade year that's resulted in very little for me to do. Hopefully in 2010 we'll be done with the upgrades and the content team will be over their bout of Minigame Madness. Better yet, to anyone who gets it, I'm going to refer to it as Runescape 2009: The "Upgrayedd" Year

Oh yeah, one more thing to add. You die. Constantly.
-
That, and combat is also overly complicated. All the hotkeys and stuff. I'm much happier to keep it much simpler.

WoW attempts to appeal to as many as humanly possible, and as a result it's been slowly dumbed down and made easier over the years. Yeah, cause Runescape hasn't, lol  Not to mention, 15 dollars a month? Are you serious? For that crap? I mean every update is the exact same thing as before, only with higher stats. I asked on the forums, and I was quite nice about it considering I was new to the game, if the game is essentially the same at lvl 70-80 as it is at lvl 10-20, with the monsters, quests, and so forth. When they said it was, I repled that that was kinda lame. From the response I got you would've thought I has burned an effigy of Jesus and raped a teenaged girl dressed up to look like the Virgin Mary.

Oh yeah, it has great lore, but I don't consider that a part of the game. The lore is on their website, not so much in the game. It would be like walking up to the Chaso Elemental ingame and asking him about some future updates. The game itself only has graphics and movement. Everything else is very substandard, unoriginal, and boring. And if you think people are protective about their Runescape, try scoping the WoW forums. Never seen so many out of work 30 year olds living with their mothers defending their pathetic existence.

No, not Runescape. World of Warcraft. My RS membership recently ran out, and I've taken a long break from RS. Half because I probably need it, the other half because over the next few months until this damned "upgrade" year is over, when I get back there might actually be a smidgeon of new content for me to play. But anyway, WoW has a trial that you can do and I did it. Okay, it has graphics. Yippee-O. The rest of the game is flat and boring. You can only have 2 primary skills, and they have 3 secondary skills that are pretty lame. The whole game is combat based. And not only combat based, but group combat based. If you've played this game, you can see how much they go out of their way to discourage anyone from playing the game solo. 80% of the monsters are aggressive and if one thing attaks you, it pulls a whole group with it to kill you. Wow, that's fun. The quests are one of three things. Bring something to someone, retrieve something from someone, kill something for something. Now they can be 2 or all 3 of those things in one quest, but that's all it is. Again, flat and one dimensional. And they just blow out the crap with characters and monsters, having insane amounts of hp and hits. I mean the whole thing is on the same scale, but instead of being able to hit 20-30s on a creature with 200 hp, they do this nonsense of it having 20000 hp and you're hitting with you hitting 2-3k off of them. Maybe they do it cause 14 year old love hitting big numbers. I honestly don't see the appeal of this game. If I groveled at the altar of combat and maybe felt that I shouldn't do anything on a game unless I'm with 4 other people at the same time I might like it, but as someone who enjoys some kind of variety in a game and likes to occasionally be by myself when I play, not for me. I won't have an online game force me to interact with other people. Why I don't play many RS minigames.

Honestly, it's things like this bug that ruins reputations, scares off new and experienced players, and makes Runescape seem like a second class game. Them also spending months to do this and still having it be this bugged is just :wall:

08-July-2009 Mobilising Armies + patch notes

I finally played the game last night. I felt like I was playing a game on Miniclip. A good game on Miniclip, but a Miniclip game nonetheless. It didn't feel like anything relating to Runescape. So in the future, keep games like this to Funorb please. -

I neither like nor dislike the new interface, but when I saw it, it was so square that my first thought was "Volvo interface." -

SURPRISE! Whatever you find interesting and not MUST be what everyone else finds interesting and not! It's completely implausible that everyone else (or a large majority) happen to like minigames, and Jagex is simply responding to that. NO NO NO! It HAS to be that Jagex are just a bunch of looney tunes with their heads buried in the sand. Once again, I am slain by your burst of pure unadulterated enlightenment. No... When did I say that my opinion must naturally be shared by everyone? When did I even mention what anyone else does or does not think? Can I not give my opinion? Let's be honest here: Jagex has created tons of minigames. It's clearly been a focal point for them in the past 2 years. In my opinion, too much so. This years two biggest updates have been Soul Wars and MA, both minigames. My opinion on the matter was only that I'd like them to put as much effort they have supposedly put into this and have it *not* be a minigame. Whether that be quest, boss monster, the new tools they mentioned few weeks back, etc. But, and here's another opinion. I think you should join the Olympic Long Jumping team. I mean, to jump all the way to the conclusions about me that you did, you're clearly able to hurl yourself long distances. -

You even tryed it yet? :$ No, but from the outset I knew this would be something I wouldn't be interested in. My point is that they seem to be minigame happy over at Jagex Towers. I'd like something that's "cutting edge" and "innovative" and not have it be a minigame. The two biggest content updates this year have been minigames. -

Months and months and months for... this. :| Okay, whatever, it's out. Can we please move on to something else now? You know, like good non-minigame content? -

What was the true point of of the run update?
Me_Hate_Libs replied to cat666's topic in General Discussion
There's one by the woodcutting tutor in Lumbridge, one south of the farm by Falador, and one north of Gertrude's house in Varrock. And that's only the f2p ones that I know of. -

They're going to reinstate fatigue because Jagex secretly detests all their players. :-# -
I'd consider two rubbers popping simultaneously more of a oddity than something disturbing.

Damnit, I tripped over Magzar's half inflated blow-up doll and hurt myself. I wish he wouldn't leave that thing lying around. -.- She was fully inflated until I let you borrow her you [wagon]! The funny thing is that my condom also got a hole in it. Mystery... :ohnoes:

For the first part, I'll quote Little Richard. "NO! Shut up!" As far as Nazi, it's censored because there is never any reason why the subject should be discussed on Runescape. And it'll generally be used to offend other people. If you want to discuss that topic, get off the game.

Mod Mat K & Manipulator clans Debate
Me_Hate_Libs replied to sadukar123's topic in General Discussion
The guy from goldmerch I've been talking to wants to take the clan in a new direction and teach players how to merch for themselves instead of manipulating. He seemed to only be getting limited support from other members though. Personally I think it could be a great idea to teach people who really want to make money buy merching, how to do it without buyouts or other forms of manipulation, so I really support what he's trying to do. @ Me_hate_libs How do you know what I've got underneath my fancypants? I got these cool X-ray specs I bought out of the back of a Spiderman magazine for only $1.50 plus shipping and handling -
Mod Mat K & Manipulator clans Debate
Me_Hate_Libs replied to sadukar123's topic in General Discussion
So I asked this question... 1) Two people get together 2) They go to a pvp world and sit in a hotspot (attacking each other with weapons that they can't kill each other with; I heard most of these methods are no longer possible, but I'm not sure) with just enough stuff on them to make the system increase their chances for a good drop 3) After a while, one kills the other hoping for a good drop 4) Then they repeat the process but switch roles 5) Profit Actually, it goes more like: 1) Two people get together 2) They go to a pvp world and sit in a hotspot (attacking each other with weapons that they can't kill each other with; I heard most of these methods are no longer possible, but I'm not sure) with just enough stuff on them to make the system increase their chances for a good drop 3) After a while, one kills the other hoping for a good drop 4) Then they repeat the process but switch roles 5) ??? 6) Profit! Maybe this explains why your character has no underwear in Runescape? -
2nd June 2009 - Hunt for the Red Raktuber + Patch Notes
Me_Hate_Libs replied to darkjab's topic in General Discussion
Am I to assume certain NPCs were never dropping challenge scrolls when they should have been? That would make a lot of sense. We should add it to the Jagex Fail list. As of right now that makes it number thelve thousand three hundred and sixty-four, right after number 12,363 which was another 30 minute quest with lame rewards. -

No to the 20 points. There's now a polar bear spy you can find every week for an additional point. So 16 per week. 1 extra point per week = lame  -
I don't think they forgot them. I think they'll release them when they get them finished. They just threw out the batch they had already done because the primary code to make it poissble was completed.
-
Well, when they give good updates I won't trash them. I didn't criticise Tales of the Muspah, Missing My Mummy, Soul Wars, fixing the run lag issue, and haven't crushed the dungeon maps either. I pointed out that I won't use them. The HP bar however I think is making my colon bleed. And I have no interest or desire in garnering attention to myself. And I'm only playing until my membership runs out. But I'll make sure to hang around the boards and call Jagex out on the crap they are spewing forth into the game just for you.
