It's after high school and before university. Basically, there were too many losers going straight to university after high school, so they made high school one year shorter than the norm and invented Cegeps (what I call college), which are two years long for pre-university programs. Cegeps are there to bombard students with work in order to weed out those who wouldn't do good in university. Ah I see. Not like Australia. K - 12, then straight to uni. I imagine where you're at is 12. Talking with deathdrow, "highschool" ends at year 11. I wish we had some snow here. Forecast was 21 - 35 celcius. WHAT THE [bleep].
