  1. I agree with the first part. I did some c2 occults and they sucked. One dungeon had no fishing spots at all, another had 3, etc. I'll do 1-35 c2 until 99 fishing though. I'm torn between doing c2s naturally and cycling the frozen floors for pure fishing exp. Jagex will probably lower the exp at some point.
  2. I like my divine. -It costs lest than a full Nex armor set (though the ~450m difference could cover some of that), so it's my best buy for the moment. -It offers guaranteed damage reduction. There are certain parts of Nexing where you want to deal the maximum damage and other parts where your damage is reduced or even minimal (melee prayer on SS form, siphon on blood form, running to mages/luring Nex). Divine gives you a bit more flexibility as to when you can brew as well as reduced KO potential. You do not lose a combat turn by drinking one dose of potion. Though to be honest, the difference between the two is even smaller than calculated because you can't use a shield while meleeing Nex. I agree Elysian is better everywhere else, but I don't have much incentive to go anywhere but Nex (money) or TDs (effigies).
  3. I don't see a correlation between the popularity of a 99 skill cape and its 120 equivalent. The regular dungeoneering cape is certainly worn often and is well respected. In fact, for players that really like one skill over all the others, a 120 cape gives them an incentive to keep playing, not quit. You could make your first three and last point about the Capes of Distinction in the new developer diary. Your other points are valid for the game as it is today. Training rates are not fast enough yet to where lesser alternatives to buyable skills are cost effective. Cooking would remain unaffected, but construction and smithing would suffer, and herblore and prayer would be almost unbearable. That's why I think it's more likely for 120s to come out after things like free/profitable skill-based minigames and more high-level skill updates come out to give options in training every skill. Not only would it level out the economy, but it would give more people a chance to get a cape. Eventually RuneScape will die, and raising the level caps will be one of the things Jagex does to try to revive it.
  4. The thing that bugs me is that before major updates which will make an item spike or crash in price, the item has been tending in that way for some time. Divines and Elysians dropped 50-80m the week before this update. But as much as I'd like to believe in a conspiracy theory, I think it's just negligence. Not that that's better.
  5. Died for first time at nex today, apparently AFKing is not the optimal method of killing her (at least during shadow phase). Nex is notoriously difficult to finish soloing. I've been the last one in the room twice, and have redbarred Nex twice, but have always missed on the hits that could kill her. With one person, she heals almost all your dps back. So we're going to need something more powerful than maul+CCB for a full solo.
  6. Got em all except maxed/uber, and not too far off those. DEFINITELY what I needed to put me back on track skilling.
  7. End of an era...FOR REAL THIS TIME Every legitimate player in RuneScape has quit, leaving only bots online. Owait... Yeah but really we don't need a thread for every time someone stops playing RuneScape.
  8. Much discussed...they'll do it eventually but not anytime soon. And it won't be 120 everything all at once.
  9. According to Jagex, who would always know and post 100% reliable information on this subject (and have no reason and nothing to gain by saying this, being completely impartial towards this), there won't be any significant price changes of spirit shields, if there are any real changes at all (beyond, you know, the panic sellers of today) They have the motivation of stopping people from quitting which is huge. Divine/Ely are down over 100m atm, we'll see if they stabilize again. Today should be an utter embarrassment.
  10. Typical 3 days after I bought a divine, should've known that they would use this to lower shield prices  No wonder sigils dropped 25-75m the week before the update, jmod friends avoiding the wreckage as usual
  11. I hope you are talking about the people that host now. No, not really. Source of all knowledge, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martingale_(betting_system) But statistics are unrealistic, as I have said before, you can run infinite trails as if you can spend like no tomorrow for a constant and relatively small potential profit. However that doesnt mean the host will lose. You know, the wonderful thing about statistics and distributions is you can use it to prove the otherwise. For the host, firstly you have more than 1 clients and you also take in the probability of clients exponential growth of stakes. Then run a confidence test, you will get a pretty high confidence of winning as a host. If you are really into this kind of maths, I can show you the more hard core stuff. You just posted a link to a source that proves yourself wrong... Doubling after a loss until you win DOES NOT lead to a net profit. With a finite cashpile you can place only a finite number of bets. A confidence index doesn't matter because this particular system is balanced between a very large number of small gains and a very small number of large losses. You're only gambling that you won't run into a large loss before you stop going for small gains. Especially in a flower game where the host can win 100% of the time simply by accepting the offer and continuing on their way.
  12. I disagree. An unholy book gives you +2 prayer and +8 ranged attack over a spectral, while the spectral has massive defence bonuses for both magic and melee. Nex's attacks can miss, and defence does make that happen more often. And she doesn't just miss once in a blue moon - it's a noticeable number of times in defensive gear. I'll count next kill if you want. Considering how high your ranged bonus should already be, the extra couple splashes per kill from the Spectral are more useful than the small offensive bonuses from unholy book. I do, however, think that EEKS > Spectral by a small margin.
  13. ^ Running from Shadow and "contain this" is a must, but yeah otherwise don't make Nex jump around. Something interesting from last night...on the blood form, Nex always uses a single-target blood magic attack on the player farthest away from her. So I stood at a distance with full armadyl and divine, tanking the low mage hits while ranging with rigour. Her multitarget mage attack is devastating because her blood spells heal her. I still haven't died at Nex...knock on wood. Everything that can KO you gives you time to safe against it, and her combo potential is lower than Corp's. Yet still always at least 1 team death per trip
  14. Which is why Funorb is such a success. Oh wait.. Most Funorb memberships are for F2p-only mains to change their names. That's saying something. Find me a games studio that hasn't had a flop in it's lifetime. Even then I wouldn't actually call it a flop, as it has had many games which were quite successful for a while. Funorb = Flop = Pancake... Burnt pancake in the mud with a side of abandonment. No one goes there anymore... And steller dawn will follow Funorb's life cycle, most likely. It flopped because they stopped updating it regularly, as you said yourself. As long as Jagex invests resources into something, it will have at least some steady players. Runescape will always have the most though as it is well established.
  15. Decided to put an offer in and after a while it bought. Back to Nex to get my cashpile back up...
  16. We'll see if a potential, slight boost to the droprate will make much of a difference to how many people Nex. My money is on very little change, based off how few teams started to Nex continuously even after the droprate was tripled.
  17. Trying to figure out whether or not mage prayer works and to what degree. Nex has the same base damage for every multitarget mage attack, the only factors that affect this damage are: -Splashing (your individual defence can roll higher than her mage attack, but it doesn't reduce damage) -Soaking -Damage reduction such as divine/ely 1. Haven't tested yet 2. Pray soul split or melee until Nex calls the minion, not affected 3. Haven't tested yet 4. Praying mage does decrease damage on this phase, plus avoids being frozen 5. Soul split unless Nex is attacking you (then deflect melee). No benefits from mage
  18. Wasn't gonna post but now obliged to I guess Grats Maz!
  19. If you are doing loads of kills dry in between...are you taking into account all the small drops interfering with your LSP? Small drops/ceremonial are quite a lot and could probably flatten your LSP in a long Nex dry streak
  20. OTG drop submission. Now there's a slight problem in using this as you can have the same drop entered and counted by multiple people, but without doing so you greatly restrict the sample size. Here is the list of drops only counting the person who got it (ignoring misses): Torva Full Helm (x11) Pernix Chaps (x11) Pernix Cowl (x10) Virtus Robe Legs (x10) Torva Platelegs (x9) Virtus Mask (x9) Virtus Robe Top (x8) Torva Platebody (x6) Zaryte Bow (x6) Pernix Body (x6) which comes out to 27 Pernix 27 Virtus 26 Torva As you can see, it's dead equal with the more accurate listing (though a smaller sample size). So take your pick of data, they both come out about even
  21. Out of my 9 Nex drops only 1 has been Virtus (but also never gotten any of the 3 most expensive items). See my post on the Nex thread
  22. To put some numbers on the debate over whether certain pieces are more common than others, I compiled a count of the ratio of Nex drops with the largest reliable sample size available. I sorted the list from from most common to least common and put in parentheses the relative price of the item, 1-10, with 1 being the most expensive. 86 Pernix Chaps (4) 85 Torva Full Helm (5) 84 Virtus Robe Top (6) 84 Virtus Robe Legs (8) 65 Torva Platebody (T2) 61 Torva Platelegs (T2) 59 Pernix Cowl (9) 55 Virtus Mask (10) 53 Zaryte Bow (7) 44 Pernix Body (1) It seems different because Maz has so many Virtus drops, but the mask is relatively rare and the top/bottoms are slightly lower than chaps and helm, which are both in the top half pricewise. I believe all Nex drops have an equal chance of dropping, and so the differences are due to the general randomness of drops spread over everyone who kills Nex. Now, it's true that there's a huge break between the top 4 and the next 6. If you add up the pieces per set, you come out with: 223 Virtus 211 Torva 189 Pernix 53 Zaryte Bows Cba to do full standard deviation right now, but if you average it out, Pernix is farther away from the center than Virtus. So yes, more Virtus pieces have dropped than anything else, but not a statistically significant amount off based on the sample size. This list shows how prices are based on the uses of the item rather than the amount in circulation...some of the items with the fewest numbers in circulation are the lowest in price. This also shows why Pernix bodies are so expensive...
  23. That really, really sucks. Lootshare points should pay off long before that. Ah well, I hope you get body/plate/legs for all the pain.
