  1. Foreign donations - Muslims from the middle east will be funding the construction of this mosque. AMG NOT THE MIDDLE EAST, THEY'RE MOST DEFIANTLY EXTREMISTS IT'S NOT LIKE THEY MIGHT HAVE MISSIONARIES TO TRY AND SPREAD ISLAM LIKE CHRISTIANITY DOES THEY JUST WANNA KILL US ALL OMGWTFBBQ. >_< If you think the other way than stop bringing it up. If you disagree with me, that's completely fine, but pick a side. All I was doing was answering his question, which was to ask how middle eastern Muslims have anything to do with this mosque. I replied through foreign donations, which is fact.
  2. None of this truly defies logic, however - they are merely discoveries that make it easy for us to understand something we didn't previously. @middle posts: Yes, I was just attempting to show that religion has done some good. That doesn't mean God exists. I do like believing in God, but my point is overall that the deductive evidence I have to believe in God makes me do so. If at some point, scientific evidence were to contradict that clearly(which I haven't seen it do, and I doubt it ever will) then I'd stop believing. You make it out to be that there's a gap in my knowledge I've decided to fill with a guess. Really, there's a gap in scientific knowledge that I've decided to fill with what seems logical to me.

  4. I don't think sbredeau is an idiot at all, in fact I think he's quite knowledgeable. I'm more just surprised to hear that he holds that opinion, and am curious to hear why.
  5. if the logic that something must come from something else can be violated then the logic that something has to be of a' higher' power than what it creates can also be violated, therefore a 'lower' power can be capable of creating a 'higher' power. Hence the theory that God is not a "power" whatsoever - and then you get into the "can God create a rock so heavy he can't lift it?". if god is not a power then what is so special about him/her/it? if it is capable of making something more complex than itself then it is possible to make something even more complex and better, so why should we give a [cabbage] about this 'god'? The "god is not a power" theory holds that since God transcends our logic, he also transcends our idea of power. Thus God is not a power in our traditional way of thinking. I won't pretend to have any knowledge of how or what God can create - if he is all powerful, that alone is impossible for us to understand, as it leads to many contradictions such as the ones you've pointed out.
  6. Yeah, really creating a clan is a learning experience, and while it helps to have experience clanning, you can never "know everything" that you need to create a clan successfully. Personally, I see you having two problems: The first being the purpose of the clan. As admirable your mission to remove bots from the game may be, you may find it pretty hard to find players who would like to go around doing that for extended periods of time. Secondly, your age. You seem pretty mature for a 13 year old, however most successful clan leaders have been far older then that - unfortunately many people just won't respect someone of that age. That said, good luck with it, I'm curious to see if it will work out :)

  8. Do I really need to start link-spamming hundreds of articles and technical reviews that all say windows 7 is vista without the bugs and garbage? I hope not.
  9. Fair enough. Because this defies our logic - that alone is indication that the human mind cannot comprehend the origins of the universe - thus it must have originated from a higher power whose logic is so above ours that something can come from nothing. Exactly - yet this particular thing they've aligned themselves with has still done an enormous amount of good. It wouldn't make me respect the theory, but it would certainly make me respect those who believe in it as good people. To be honest(and I'm sure you'll think I've no evidence) but to make a logical argument would take far more time than I have at the moment, and is for a different thread. Personal preference has nothing to do with fact - but personal preference ties in with faith, that is the belief in something without concrete evidence. All the examples you've given have facts associated with them, yet the existence of a God does not - therefore I personally prefer to believe in something rather than nothing.
  10. I believe the client doesn't require java to be installed, but it installs java when you download it. I could be wrong though, it's been a while. EDIT: I had no idea the current client was open source, very interesting stuff. But yeah, to put it in very simple terms it runs java inside the C++ executable that is the RS client.
  11. There's no "downloadable version of rs". There's a client, which includes Java. Windows Vista sucks, but anyway...all you can really do is what microsoft suggested, and try contacting java support. Although, also make sure you've installed all updates for Vista and the most recent drivers for your graphics card.
  12. Perhaps that's your interpretation of atheism, but by definition the principle is irrelevant - an atheist does not believe in God regardless of whatever evidence there may be to the contrary. There may be evidence for the big bang(I won't claim to be knowledgeable about the subject) but realistically it doesn't answer the ultimate question - it still requires an inciting incident - so really the big bang is one step towards an answer, but not a solution by any means. Which is irrelevant. The laws of the Church were based on a principle of religion - getting to heaven - and as a result contributed enormously to society. Which is completely true; however it doesn't change the fact that many who do good do it as a result of their faith. Agreed - however we can make theories(as we did with the Big Bang) to fill in the gap. Scientifically, there's little evidence of God. Logically, I disagree, thus I theorize that the probability of God's existence is reasonable. Which is a personal preference.
  13. Yeah, that's completely ridiculous.
  14. I wasn't saying I dont care, I was saying that I did not understand your writing. I didnt know what I was supposedly caring or not caring about How is athiesm a religion? Actually by definition it is a lack of religion. I do not believe in anything. I observe facts and make logical deductions about the nature of reality. My views about the world are not fixed and I hold no "beliefs" or "faiths". Right now, I have concluded that evolution was the process that brought humans into existance, but if new evidence emerged then my views would change. Religion is a belief in one thing, a belief based on faith and not on evidence. It is irrational, and illogical. Atheism is not a religion, it is not a belief, and it is not a faith in anything. You don't understand logic, and that's the one thing that sticks out. Also, it's irrational to try and rationalize an irrational world. Second, Atheism is a religion, however Atheists won't admit it, because let's face it. Religoin is for illogical ppls@! Atheism is not based on the belief of something. Science is knowledge, not belief. Therefore, it's not a religion. And really, religion-wise, America is regressing. Come over to Europe if you don't wanna be bothered by ignorants like GB. Yes, I'm sure there are no idiots in Europe
  15. I find it ridiculous and incredibly narrow-minded that you seem to have decided that every person who believes in God has blindly followed what other people are telling them, and has never thought for themselves. Thousands of the greatest scientific, artistic, and brilliant minds over the history of mankind have been religious, yet you somehow consider yourself above them intellectually simply because you're atheist? Of course, on the other hand, if nobody had ever told you there was a God, you probably wouldn't believe in one (at least not in the traditional sense, any way). Well, like I said - I'm a theist - I believe in the existence of a God, but I don't believe much about him.
  16. You're reaching the point in your life where girlfriends will show up, no matter which friends you have. They prioritize their girlfriends over you (as they rightly should). This isn't high school anymore - hanging out doing stuff every single day increasingly becomes a thing of the past when you get older.
  17. Do you even know what the definition of athiesm is? Athiesm means rejection of the idea of a god. For example - I consider myself a Thiest - I beleive firmly in a God - but I don't follow a religion. From dictionary.com: a·the·ism   [ey-thee-iz-uhm] Show IPA noun 1. the doctrine or belief that there is no god. 2. disbelief in the existence of a supreme being or beings. Origin: 158090; < Gk áthe ( os ) godless + -ism World English Dictionary atheism (ˈeɪθɪˌɪzəm) n rejection of belief in God or gods [C16: from French athéisme, from Greek atheos godless, from a- 1 + theos god] atheism 1580s, from Fr. athéisme (16c.), from Gk. atheos "without god" (see atheist). Cultural Dictionary atheism [( ay -thee-iz-uhm)] Denial that there is a God. ( Compare agnosticism.) Also - I believe Allah and the Christian God to be one and the same - indeed Christians and Muslims just believe different things about him. Let's look at your numerous theism-bashing posts, shall we? Yet you've constantly said there is no proof or evidence... Personally, I've spent the last 5 years of life constantly revisiting my religious beliefs. Constantly thinking about what is logical, and what isn't. Constantly trying to see why certain things are the way they are. They made have turned me off from organized religion in a sense but at the same time they've solidified my firm belief in a higher power. What good? Seriously? Our entire legal system's origins were based on the laws of the church - even if God doesn't exist(as you claim) look at the saints, people like mother Teresa, people who spent their entire lives contributing to the world in the best way possible - all of that was done due to belief in God. The bottom line is that there is much about this world science, and pure "fact"(whatever your interpretation of that is) cannot explain, and may never be able to. In fact - I see the existance of a God as a far more logical and reasonable deduction then to say we came from nowhere. Nothing on this earth comes from nowhere as we currently know it, why should our origins be any different?
  18. Atheism means you don't believe in the existence of a God. There are two states God could be in - existence and nonexistence. There may be no evidence to claim God exists(I disagree, but that's for another topic) but there's certainly no evidence to claim he doesn't. It boils down to personal preference - you prefer to believe only in what you know to be 100% certain, I prefer to believe in something rather than nothing. It does not make me stupid, or less intelligent then you.
  19. You realize this is terribly hypocritical, as you believe that your atheistic beliefs are a theory you always hold correct despite whatever evidence there may be.
  20. This isn't specific to IPB, this was the same way on phpBB as well. This issue has also been suggested and rehashed several times, the answer from the admins has always been the same: flood control stays, and frankly I agree. You should be able to use the full editor however, that's just because IPB displays the warning differently from how phpBB did, which I admit I find annoying.
  21. That last sentence basically sums up the fact that you don't understand it
  22. My point was that without seeing IPB's code you can't assume that. PhpBB is meant to be easily modified and extended - so functions often exist to facilitate that. Plus, IPB could handle posts and topics in a completely different manner then phpBB does.
  23. I agree - it never is justifiable. See my previous post: They probably won't alienate priests? Priests are defrocked and criminally charged regularly. You're attempting to equate renegades explicitly breaking the laws of their religion with people following part of their religion. I don't think I need to start quoting the Qu'Ran here, but I can if you'd like to push the point. The Muslim community as a whole doesn't preach that it's a sin to be a jihadist. The catholic community as a whole preaches that it's a sin to be a pedophile. I'm quite sure the average muslim is terrified of them, so wouldn't they want to rid them from their community? Make no mistake about it, many muslim communities are doing exactly that - I don't remember the name of them now, but the governing body of Islam in Canada released a statement a few weeks back stating that value of human life supersedes religious law, thus making it pretty clear that radicals cannot be considered faithful muslims. Honestly - I don't see what's so hard to do about it. All the Iman sponsoring the mosque has to do is explicitly state that radicals and jihadists will not be accepted in the community, and that they will refuse funding from any organization labeled as radical or otherwise. There you go, riots over. Might be funded: They've already declared their intention to ask for foreign donations. Foreign donations means middle east. Middle east means some radical jihadists. These jihadists MAY fund the mosque. How likely it is, no one can honestly say, until the official funding statement is released. If it does come to pass that radical Muslims have funded the mosque, the mosque will cater to radical Muslims. They're scarcely going to say "oh, thanks for the several million dollars, but you can't come in here.". Americans will be pissed for a few months? Those who jump on the GB Tea Party bandwagon, sure. Those whose lives have been forever altered by the 911 attacks? I doubt they'll "get over it".
  24. Yes, the "theory" for what happened before the big bang is not a good theory. There is NO theory at the moment. Why? Because there is no evidence. There will never be a good theory unless we can gather strong evidence. Yet you seem more inclined to believe this fact-less theory than the existence of a God...
