It's been my experience that even when forums allow discussion and debate about moderator action 90% of the topics end up with moderators just putting their foot down after users refuse to accept that they broke rules. People don't like to admit to their mistakes...so I can understand why TIF administration decided it wasn't worth the hassle.

Read that article. It made some pretty good points, although parts of it struck me as a little nit-picky (like the dialogue bit. Whenever I hear a claim of "bad dialogue", I instantly compare it to a James Cameron script to see how it holds up, and Inception holds up pretty well to that).

In retrospect you're quite right. I will say that I don't think that phenomenon is uncommon among directors, or even authors...so it seems odd to deliberately point out him doing that. Perhaps his usage of CGI is more of a reflection on the subject matter of his movies than it is of his directing style? I definitely wouldn't call him the best director of our generation, but I do think he's generally good. I'll also agree that his films are most enjoyable on the first viewing (but most of hollywood films fall into that category).

I have a confession to make: I had never seen a Bond film before Skyfall. Everyone said it was good, so I thought, seems like a fine place to start. I have no desire to ever watch another Bond film. The opening sequence was good and the title sequence was beyond cool, but the whole film just went downhill from there. People tell me Bond films aren't for everyone. I'll just say it's not my idea of a good movie. I just watched Moonrise Kingdom. Never seen a Wes Anderson film before. Didn't like. I think I'm noticing a trend here. I've only seen a few bond films and skyfall isn't that good. Don't let one mediocre film turn you off the whole series. Watch Casino Royale and then make a decision :) Watched A royal affair. It was pretty good (7/10). And danish seems fairly similar to english, more so than I'd thought.

I see a lot of similarities between a rape and a scam. Rapes are just as likely to be "initiated by one person" as a scam is. They both involve someone being taken advantage of, and they can both be learned from (as can anything). If no one ever said anything insensitive, one might as well just not say anything at all. Just because you're offended by something doesn't preclude it from being true or otherwise relevant.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with using analogies, even if they are about video games.
