Say the chance is 1/2000. That's 0.05% chance to get it, or a 99.95% chance you don't get a visage drop. After 2000 kills, there's a 0.9995^2000 chance you didn't get a visage drop, or 37%. So, a 63% chance you did get one. This means, if you kill 2k dragons, there's a 63% chance you get a visage (assuming the drop rate is 1/2000), but the chance to get a visage on your next kill is still 1/2000. Killing 10k dragons means you have a 99.3% chance to get a visage drop from one of those 10000 dragons. This should end the discussion.

I don't get why people thing DIY is more fun than being efficient. DIY makes me feel like I'm wasting my time.

Only problem might be bones rising in price a lot and being unbuyable, but that goes for both altars and ecto I guess. My house needs a really long time to load (around 15 seconds), so that number can even be higher if you have a nearly empty house. i have 1 summoning and 50 construction, i dont use bone runners or 'those mouse keys' and i have 54 agility, yet i can manage 300k xp an hour What exactly is your point? You didn't even read what you quoted properly ('those mouse keys'), agility doesn't have anything to do with it and 1 summoning isn't exactly something to brag about either.

Well someone earlier said it took 142 seconds per trip with a tortoise to do 42 at an altar...so that's 1050 per hour roughly. If you can do 918 per hour ecto-ing you are in (not to mention saving over 275k gp per hour). How many can be done an hour ectoing? Anyone know? Way less, you gotta fill the buckets, grind the bones and offer them. Altar is still vastly superior.

I tested it with normal bones (those are still buyable :/), and did a full run of 42 bones with tort in 142 seconds. You can do that around 25 times an hour, which is 265k xp/hour. That's not bad in my opinion, and I never really bothered to use mousekeys so I bet it's even faster than without pray x for me. Now I just have to hope bones don't stay at like 2500ea after their initial price rise, or my 90 pray will be a whole lot more expensive :|

Meh I have lots of goals, I usually feel like doing at least one of them. If I'm really bored I just suck it up and go do some pc. That bores me even if I wasn't bored before, but I just want to get void so I'll have to do it eventually anyway :-#

Fictional numbers. 280 bones/hour used at ectofuntus, 1k at altar. 252k xp in 1 hour at altar. Cost - 2050k + 25k for teletabs 80.6k xp in 1 hour at ecto. Cost - 574k To get 252k xp at ecto takes 188 minutes, 128 minutes more than using an altar. The cost for 252k xp at ecto is 1795k. So, at ecto, you save 280k, but spend 128 minutes more. So, if you make over 131k/hour (anyone can do this, pure essence makes you more), you should use the altar. There. /thread I fear my bones/hour used at ecto number is a bit high, can anyone confirm or disprove it?

Ya but either way i believe luck has some things to do with it. I know people that can get 1k+ abbys demons and not get a whip, while i got 3 in 183 on my last task of them, and 8 all together since 85 slayer. As for the visage thing i've gotten one of those and idk, i've slayed somewhere between 1k-2k irons and never got a d skirt or leg drop. Nah, what you call luck is just the 1/something chance occurring after less kills than you would expect.

finally some1 that proves me right(well not totally but ur the only1 that really accepts that 1/10k is way to high) @laura: i know it impossible of getting exact numbers for the drop rates, only jagex will have those and i dont think theyll give them 2 us... but what im (we are) doing here is discussing about guesses we make while we kept in regard the prices(read randomness) and the amount you will have to kill to be (almost) 100% sure to get a visage. Since that amount is ~3000 (when using 1/500 drop rate) i found this an acceptable drop rate. There will always be pll who disagree and my numbers wont ever be totally right, but since the OP asked what the drop rate might be, i tried to give him a number which will probably be close to the real answer. The initial droprate you posted was 1/150, which is obviously wrong (whips are about 1/450, and people have actually logged enough kills to accurately conclude that). That droprate was just way off, and that's why people started arguing with you. For the people who still don't get it even after unkwnwarrior's post; 1/2000 drop rate just means that you have a 1/2000 chance to get a drop every kill, not that you will have gotten one after 2000 kills.

I just built an underground firepit in my oubliette to be able to kill myself, but it isn't doing any damage to me. What am I doing wrong? It is not connected to a throne room above, does that matter? - I had to build some lever to activate challenge mode for it to work.

Sumona is better for cannoning (almost solely cannon tasks). Duradel is slightly better for overall xp though I think.

It's around 25 range xp/cball. That would be 208k cannonballs.
