  1. Unless you can afford it, simply settle with the Dragonstone(i). +1 attack and defence is next to nothing, and won't make any serious impact on your combat ability.
  2. I have some experience in this area, so I'll reply to another one of your threads  When I got 90 magic, I tried Water surging Steel dragons near the Temple in upper Wilderness (from that quest Temple of Senisomething) and wound up losing money because of how freakin' expensive Water runes are. Then I tried out Abyssal demons, and although they are fast, still lost money with Water surge. I have no idea about Earth surge, but I have heard from reliable sources that Fire Surging Abyssal Demons is profitable and over 100k xp/hr. Best equipment is obvious, but I'll tell you anyway: Full Ahrim Arcane stream necklace Staff of light Blessed Spirit Shield Gloves [barrows] Infinity boots Seers' Ring(i) God cape (from Mage Arena) I believe there are a couple logs about Surging Abyssal Demons on the RSOF, might be a good idea to check those out as well. Good luck, and maybe I'll see you there after I finish Planking another 21k logs...
  3. Good luck getting one. I tried getting a Black dragon egg after 99 summoning, but got a Visage instead (darn). Then I quit trying, went back to slayer and got a Blue dragon egg. Basically, camp there long enough and you'll get an egg. Either be cheap (like me) by ranging them via safespot using a Yak to bank hides and bones, or speed through the kills with a cannon and melee with Z spear + Super antifires. Your choice, but if you can afford to I'd kill 'em fast and get the egg quicker.
  4. Man, all I really want is to get the same xp/hr rate soloing as teaming, but 2x faster xp would be awesome. I'm stuck on a slow computer with dial-up internet 95% of the time I play Runescape, so absolutely no team will take me. I'm level 5 Dungeoneering, so I had no idea all the xp was from completing a floor. This may sound like a stupid question, but what's the fastest way to complete a floor? Just kill everything you see, defeat the boss, and move onto the next floor? Another possibly even a dumber question, what is prestige? After each floor do I have to leave the room, and enter it again? If that's true, no wonder I'm getting 200 xp on a floor that seems to take me 20 mins. Oh, final question I promise: What's the fastest way to get xp soloing: Is it better to do floors with low complexity (1 or 2), or high complexity (5 or 6)?
  5. Since getting 99 ranged, 99 summoning, and maxed melees as well as 99 slayer, I now slay to make money. I sold my cannon but still use superhuman strength for many tasks, and always use Super sets (only 76 herblore). I use my Steel titan for any tasks in multicombat, use a bunyip for tasks in Kuradel's dungeon, a Pack yak for Blue dragons, and tank Spectres with a Macaw. Now I just gotta get 73 mining so I can start making 1m+ on each Living Rock Creature task.
  6. I'm personally doing Plank Make until 95 magic. I did the math so it would only be around 3 gp/xp making oak planks. Mahongany planks would've been slightly cheaper, but the time it took to buy the logs and sell the planks was too great for me (yeah, I'm pretty impatient). I've personally timed myself an average around 120k xp/h, or about 1300 logs. Pretty good for somebody on dial-up. Plank Make does involve a lot of clicking however, so if you can afford to spend more money I'd go with String Jewellery, one of the easiest methods of training magic.
  7. Which logs do you convert to planks to get that rate? If it's that cheap, I'll definately use Plank Make for 95 magic, then Fire Surge Abyssal Demons to 99.
  8. I personally follow Artemis' guide to killing Tormented Demons (found in the Archive of Wisdom). Use Dragon halberd special whenever you can, and also carry your Enhanced excalibur as well in case you need the extra healing.
  9. If you have it full void ranged already, I'd suggest using it if you have a Unicorn stallion to heal. Otherwise, Black d'hide will work just fine, but you may want to buy a Blessed spirit shield for tasks that involve tank ranging. It only costs a few million GP, and provides decent defence with no ranged attack penalty. Another important item to have while tank ranging is an Enhanced excalibur. Obtained by completing Seers' Diary 3, it's about the only special attack weapon you'll need since it heals 200 lp every couple of minutes, as well as boosting your defence almost as high as a super defence potion. Sorry if I'm repeating things you probably already know, but since you asked what to use, I'm telling you. I hated training ranged to 99 with slayer, but if I did it I'm sure you can as well.
  10. I'd recommend not wearing Karils for range armour, much better off with either Armadyl or Black D'hide. Only reason to wear Karils over D'hide would be if you're fighting a monster that uses a magic-based attack, otherwise D'hide has same range attack and doesn't degrade.
  11. The solution to your question is simple: Sell your Dragon claws, and use either a Ddp++ or Enhanced excalibur for your special attack weapon. The claws have a good special, but so does the Ddp++ at a fraction of the cost. Use your money on Herblore, Summoning, and Prayer. These skills are incredibly useful for Slayer.
  12. There is only one thing I ever used Bandos boots for, and that was to tank-range Aviansie with Full void. Otherwise, Bandos boots are truly a waste of your money.
  13. Well, now I'm really excited. I've wanted a Dragon defender ever since I received a Rune defender several years ago. In my opinion, there are only a few ways Jagex could *@ up the Dragon defender release: 1. Tie it with Dungeoneering and tokens. Defenders in general have nothing to do with Dungeoneering, so there had better not be a Dungeoneering level requirement/ Dungeoneering token cost attached to it. 2. Make it tradeable. No Defenders are tradeable, and I believe everyone who owns a Defender agrees that this is a good thing. 3. Make it degradeable. No other Defender is degradeable, nor is any other Dragon weapon or Dragon equipment degradeable. If Jagex chooses to release the Dragon defender as part of a quest, or have it come in several pieces that are dropped from the Cyclops in the Warriors Guild, or make us exchange several Rune defenders for a Dragon defender, it's all fine with me. Good thing I don't own a Godsword, because I predict the combined stats of an Abyssal whip and Dragon defender will be very close to the stats of a Godsword, and the speed of the whip will make the Godsword all but useless. BTW, I really should get a Chaotic rapier or longsword, as either one combined with a Dragon defender will become all but unstoppable.
  14. Check out Muggi's Guide to Extremely Fast Melee XP. It has great info about Zombie Monkeys located beneath the Ape Atoll Temple. It's been years since I've trained there, but before I had maxed melees I trained there quite a few times. I was nearly always training alone down there, while the Gorillas above me were constantly full of people. The only downside to training down there is the use of prayer potions, but with all the ways to make money nowadays, earning 100k xp/hr at the cost of a few prayer potions is worth it. If you are willing to fight the crowds, you simply cannot go wrong with Armoured Zombies. You'll profit, be able to use your best boost prayers all the time, and wear (nearly) your best melee equipment. However, with all these factors come crowds, so it's your choice. However, if you're looking long-term instead of short-term training your melee skills and maybe even ranged skill with Slayer is the way to go. It's what I did, and now with over 20m xp for each melee skill, 22m xp for constitution, 99 ranged, 99 summoning, and 99 slayer, I feel I made the right choice.
  15. Unfortunately my computer isn't fast enough to load the video tutorial of your method. Could you try explaining it in words?
  16. Great guide, I'd definately use it if I weren't P2P and had maxed melee stats. However, there are some things I believe you can improve upon. 1) The tags system. With built in hide tabs, you don't really need to use tags to find things you are looking for, since all the tabs are easily seen by simply scrolling up or down a bit. 2) I understand the Stronghold of Security is a great place to train in F2P. However, some other options should be mentioned in your guide as well, such as Moss giants, Lesser demons, Greater demons, and Cockroach soldiers. If you could add information about these training spots and possibly compare them to the SoS it would really benefit the readers. 3) Your guide goes into much detail concerning melee and range, yet your mage guide is really lacking. First of all, training magic with combat is extremely slow xp in F2P, so I don't understand why you would mention it. I believe it would be much better for your guide to instead mention noncombat methods of training magic, even though they don't involve the SoS, because high alching and superheating is a much more efficient use of your time and money than bolting or blasting away at Ankous.
  17. I like the idea of maging Aviansie. However, I do have a few questions. 1) Why do you have a range section in this guide, isn't it supposed to be for maging them? 2) Since speed is helpful, I'm curious about how useful using a Void mace here with Claws of Guthix and the Charge spell. You mention Rune knives in your High-Level Aviansie Range Guide about and how they affect profits but allow you to gain faster range xp. I'm curious if using Claws of Guthix would do the same, allowing you to have a small profit or breaking even while getting faster mage xp. 3) Why are Dagon'hai robes more useful than Ahrim for tanking? I apologize, I'm unfamiliar with the stats of Dagon'hai. Otherwise very interesting guide. I'm beginning to think we've got another expert guidemaker on the Tipit forum. :D
  18. Only problem with your setup is the use of a Rune C'bow. I believe, and i will prove this over and over again, that once you hit 90+ Ranged it is far better to use knives, darts or obby rings for the fastest possible exp. You're probably right. However, I'm not exactly comfortable with draining a lot of my profits by using obsidian rings or rune knives. Also, it'll take some accurate calculations for you to persuade me that you don't need the +90 range attack given by the Rune c'bow when using Void. This is simply because you have few other places to get that necessary range attack. If you can prove myself and others like me wrong however, you'll have a very good guide on your hands.
  19. Excellent guide, glad somebody finally made a high-level Aviansie guide. If you're interested, here's my equipment. Full range void Armadyl pendant Rune c'bow Broad bolts Dragonfire shield Zamorak cape (from Mage Arena) Bandos boots Inventory consists of Enhanced Excalibur, teleport tablet, alching runes, 5 range potions(4), 1 summoning potion(4), 6 pineapple pizza, 5 unicorn pouches, and ~500 unicorn scrolls. With this setup and my stats, I'm nearly always at max health, so I can stay as long as my familiars last. Pineapple pizzas aren't necessary now that I think of it, should probably just bring more pouches. Anyway, I use the far western spot of the main room, with two aviansie spawns surrounded by bandos and zamorak followers, hence the Bandos and Zamorak equipment. Again, great guide. Can't wait for it to be complete.
  20. Great guide. I bookmarked this months ago, and decided to bump it so it can hopefully be discovered by everybody else.
  21. Great guide, but you're missing a few important monsters. 1) Mutated bloodvelds - Requires completion of "Legacy of Seergaze", but it's cannonable. You must use Protect from Melee, so it is an expensive task. However, you will easily get 100k+ range xp/hour there. 2) Black demons (Taverly) - Jagex recently updated these to have the same charm drop rate as those in the Chaos Tunnel. For the best cannon spots of the monsters I've mentioned, check out Zarfot's Mega Slayer Guide on the Runescape Official Forum. Best of luck to all range-slayers out there!
  22. I completely agree with your point. Since essence autoers are gone, pure essence has overstayed its welcome. I'll  for Jagex to take a hint and remove it.
  23. Great information, thanks for all the tips. Should save me plenty of coin when I can afford to complete my house. Just one question: How much has your house cost you? (Not the skill, the actual items/rooms)
  24. 287 You make some very valid points, and I must agree that slayer isn't THE way to train combat. However, with currently 95 slayer and 15m xp in attack, strength, defence, and 17m hitpoints xp, I must admit I'm addicted to it. It's hard to explain why slayer is fun, but to me it's absolutely worth making less money and leveling slower than other methods out there. To me, the "fun factor" is all I need to keep me going.
  25. Since I'm on dial-up I cannot view your video, so if you answer my question I apologize. Anyway, do you use Eagle eye while chinning, or Piety while dharoking Monkey skeletons? I'm curious if you have found the extra expense to be worth it. Great guide, I hope to use it to get 99 range when I get lucky at God Wars.
