  1. Good guide, but I have my own tanking setup. Full range void Armadyl pendant Zamorak cape (from Mage's Arena) Rune c'bow Broad-tipped bolts Dragonfire shield Bandos boots Inventory consists of range potions, summoning potion, unicorn scrolls, unicorn pouches, Enhanced Excalibur, and alch runes. At 99 defence, 89 summoning, and 92 range I am almost always at full health.
  2. Exactly. The best thing about Black demon tasks are the crimson charms. The majority of slayers melee them with prayer since it is much faster than range, but if you really want to there are a few safespots available.
  3. Rune c'bow with broad bolts, hands down.
  4. http://www.truthscape.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=2286 More recent than Qeltar's guide, but still somewhat out of date. Range is of course better than maging Aviansie, but mage is an option.
  5. Tanking in Void range? Didn't know that was possible. Could you please go into more detail about your method (Other equipment, familiar, which area, etc)
  6. I'm amazed this thread hasn't gotten a new reply mentioning the Enhanced Excalibur, so I'll be that guy. Upon completion of the Seers Village Achievement Diary, players can have their Excalibur upgraded. This new version now restores 20 hp and boosts your defence the same as a super defence potion. So, for people who have finished the diary, we now have an alternative to using the SGS for this method of killing Iron Dragons. I'm curious what your opinion is on this, and which special-only weapon would be best here. Keep in mind that with the Enhanced Excalibur, you aren't limited to killing Iron Dragons near the Wild dogs. Just something to keep in mind...
  7. Great guide, I just may unblock Iron Dragons to try out this method. However, my cash supply is running a bit low at the moment, spent a lot on magic and summoning. However, do you think with maxed melee stats, 70 prayer, and 88 summoning I could do a full task without a SGS or DFS?
  8. Sorry for the inconvenience, but could you write out what equipment and supplies you use for Aviansie? My dial-up internet refuses to load the pictures. Since you mentioned tanking them, I'll assume that you didn't wear void armour. However, I have heard that some people use void there with great results. Sure, the defence is horrible, but the speed may make up for it if you have 99 defence and a unicorn stallion. Great guide, thanks a ton.
  9. This is a very good idea, but I still see a problem. What would be the best course of action if a high level ranger is at two low level Aviansie spawns, and a low level ranger asks to switch spawns with them, because the low level ranger just got to God wars and is stuck with the high level Aviansie. Is the high level ranger expected to move spots and be forced to heal more and/or get slower kills, or should the low level ranger switch worlds? Sorry if this question is a bit long and confusing, I don't know how else to explain it.
  10. Great guide. The biggest reason I don't do Treasure Trails are because of Sliding Puzzles. Unfortunately, I'm still trying to wrap my brain around your idea. I have been inspired to start doing Clue Scrolls again, I believe the best way to learn your technique is by actually practicing it. Expect to see me in the future though, either asking for help or thanking you for making these puzzles so easy.
  11. Love your guide, but you really must add Blue Dragons. Since I've tried Green Dragons in the Chaos Tunnel and found them to be crowded in nearly every world, I'm hoping some other dragon will be close to that profit (400k gp/h). If ranging Blue Dragons is close to that it'd be even better, because having maxed melees and 90 range isn't ideal.
  12. :-# We don't talk about this spot. Decent guide, but I prefer pietying. Since the common drops usually pay for my prayer potions, all whips are pure profit.
  13. This guide needs a range section, because I need to range for slayer. I realize you mention a few tasks where ranging is possible, but I need more information than that. Range equipment, Safespotting vs Tanking, average overall range xp when slaying, any of this would really benefit the guide. I'm almost 99 defence, so I will start range slaying soon. Sorry if by saying this I'm breaking some forum rules, but anyways here it is. RobinHoodie is asking for his Range Slaying Guide to die, so I believe this guide can fill in the gap they created. This is, in my opinion, the best slayer guide on this forum. Therefore, improve it, add new sections, and make it the best slayer guide anywhere.
  14. You should think about adding different methods for the same monster. For example, you suggest ranging Nechryaels with a safespot in the Slayer Tower. However, did you know you can also kill Nechryaels in the Chaos Tunnels using Red Chichompas to get much faster range and slayer xp. Of course it's more expensive, but for some it's worth the cost. Once I get 99 defence, I'll be range slaying too. I'll use parts of your guide, but since it doesn't apply to me much, I'll have to be creative. With 99 defence, 88 summoning, range void, and a DFS, tanking instead of safespotting many tasks can be easily done for faster xp. BTW: Smallville and Supernatural ftw! \ Counting down the days until January 15 EDIT: Just saw your avatar RobinHoodie, and =D> for you, Gabriel aka Sylar is  in the best way
  15. 92 slayer here, so listen up. :D My personal abyssal whip drop rate is around 1/450 - 1/500. I used to get a whip drop every other abyssal demon task, but my luck has changed and now get one every 3-4 tasks.
  16. For melee, I strongly suggest slayer. You make money, gain charms, and earn xp in one of the most valuable skills in Runescape. Otherwise, if you really want to powertrain melee, Armoured Zombies are the way to go. Get 70 prayer for piety, do Defender of Varrock, and thank us all later. For range, slayer is again the best option. However, that doesn't mean range slaying will be fun. If you want economical and efficient xp, range yaks or giant spiders (3rd floor of Securty Stronghold) using full range void and bronze knives. Faster than slayer's xp average, but boring. Good luck with whatever decision you make.
  17. I need your help Kent. I have enough money and charms to get 74-88 summoning, but I'm not sure what the best way to get cheap shards is. I read in your guide I shouldn't be spending 25gp each for them, and the people I've talked to say junk trading is the best way. You mention exchanging pouches for shards, but what pouches are the best to do this with? If you don't want to do the math yourself, please tell me a formula I can use or something, because I really don't want to have to spend more money than absolutely necesssary.
  18. Just noticed you removed your Efficiency vs Fun section. I understand why, but if possible could you please tell me what the formula is to find the most efficient method? I believe you had this mentioned in that section. I could do the math myself, but I'd rather be lazy and have you dig the formula up somewhere : Appreciate the help, but if you don't have this lying around somewhere, don't worry about it.
  19. With dial-up, I'm having some real trouble seeing your dozens of pictures. I really don't think they are all necessary, it's kind of pointless having the same two equipment pictures for sooo many tasks. :x Other than that, this guide has some real potential. After I get 99 defence with slayer, I plan on getting 99 range. I can guarantee I'll be using this guide, as long as you make some much needed updates to it. I strongly suggest you mention how much a Dragonfire shield can help when you're forced to tank tasks, and you should truly think about getting full range void. It is awesome armour and, in my opinion, better than Armadyl for tasks that have safespots, and/or have you kill NPCs with low range defence. Sorry for all this text, I'm just really excited to see a Range Slayer Guide. \ EDIT: I forgot something else: Comparisons of different range weapons and which you recommend for different tasks. Between Crystal bows, Rune c'bows, Magic shortbows, and Knives, it would be a great section that could really benefit this guide and it's audience.
  20. Love your guide, its bookmarked. Quick question though; Any idea how much 74-88 summoning would cost me? If you can, factor in the seconds and selling all the pouches. A rough estimate would be fine, I don't want to start spending my money if I'll run out before I get those precious ponies under my control. Thanks!
  21. Oh my goodness, I just realized you're missing a huge chunk of information important to slayer: Ranging. You mention it, and make a short comparison between the three combat styles, but you never mention the equipment you recommend for slayer. I'm surprised it has been overlooked for this long, but I guess people were distracted with the rest of your awesome guide. :
  22. 74 is more then enough Thanks much, you convinced me to buy Guthans. Guess I'm going old-school. :D
  23. Alright, I read through your guide. It looks great but still has some minor typos, so I recommend you read through it again Kent. However, I'm here because I have a question about Guthans and combat familiars. What combat familiar do you believe makes using Guthans worth it? Meaning what combat familiar gives more xp than you lose using Guthans to heal? I am currently 74 summoning, and I may buy Guthans and begin using a Granite lobster for tasks in multicombat areas. I'm not sure though, seeing as how I used my trusty Bunyip from 85-90 slayer, I'm hesitant to part with it. Any advice you can give is appreciated.
  24. I feel the same way. However, Armoured zombie training allows you to use boosting prayers, something Ghostly warriors do not. Basically, leave Ghostly warriors to the pures and mid-level mains, and all the high-levels with access to Piety should go to the Armoured zombies for some quick xp with profit and charms.
  25. Thanks for all the advice, now I'm off to do Defender of Varrock! \
