  1. There are only maybe two things: - Get some of my music recorded. Be it a home recording, a proper studio recording, whatever. - Acquire and read through the Kokin Wakashu. I really love Japanese poetry. Both are quite feasible.
  2. Hey! Godspeed You! Black Emperor is awesome!

Today was a pretty meh day to be honest. Had to go into school to complete my GCSE science... Needless to say, I went in expecting a couple of 20 minute papers. When I got there, my science teacher said "oh, we won't be finishing until 3!". So I had an unexpected long day. Now I'm just relaxing and such.

Oh, I forgot to add that I always feel that either the world is against me or that everyone just plain hates me. Of course, neither are true. It's a weird feeling. It's probably not so much paranoia as it is the vast amounts of time that I spend on my own, though.
  5. : Did you like Naked City? I thought it was awesome.
  6. Blind Guardian's Imaginations From the Other Side. I forgot how relentless and aggressive this band was in their early years. Shame about the last two albums they put out though.
  7. A great album. As a matter of fact I think I checked it out after I saw you say it was one of your favourites. I maintain that Kali has the best outro I've ever heard in music. Bonus points for the bass solo along with guitar solos. I think !T.O.O.H.! is probably my favourite death metal band. Iced Earth's Burnt Offerings.

I'm not really paranoid, but I do tend to occasionally bridge negative sequences together and predict the worst possible outcomes. Also, speaking of personality types, INFJ here.
  9. Heh nice, super compatibility. !T.O.O.H.!'s ?ád a trest. This has to be some of the most awesome music ever made.
  10. Only one of the best genres of music ever conceived.
  11. World's End Girlfriend's Hurtbreak Wonderland. Perhaps his most beautiful album and it really matches my mood right now.
  12. Yeah, I can only really give an outline of it because well, as you said, there are so many other little factors that are completely different from person to person that could either intensify the attraction or put me off completely. Works both ways.

Don't say that.. :( Trust me, it's really hard to say that without losing face as a metal listener. That said I'm gonna give Hvis Lyset Tar Oss another try maybe later today and I'll see how I get on with it.
  14. Have you listened to Imaginary Sonicscape yet? It would probably blow your mind if you haven't. Blind Guardian's Battalions of Fear. This record is almost thrash metal in places, especially in the song 'Majesty'. Thrash purists, don't hate me.

Any love for Windir or Cruachan here?

He's definitely a really distinctive artist in the scene, and you're probably right: calling him overrated (especially in this context, i.e. in a thread full of Dimmu Borgir and related) is probably way too harsh. But yeah, he pretty much set the way for 'ambient black metal' which I could never really get into much. It just feels as if he intentionally or otherwise dragged everything out forever and ever, particularly in that track you mentioned. I don't know, maybe I should give his work more listens now I'm accustomed to more 'atypical of stereotype' music.

I listened to Hvis Lyset Tar Oss and I felt like I was being sentenced to death by boredom. Maybe I just don't get Burzum.
  18. Jex Thoth's Jex Thoth. Psychedelic doom metal. The last.fm description puts it as Amon Duul II meets Black Sabbath, and I think I would agree. Also, the singer has a really calming voice. [yt]GzOLCBB2v2A[/yt]
  19. Great thanks, what about you? Where've you been, you just suddenly stopped coming in chat/msm :( MSN decided to be a [bleep], but I think I just managed to re-add you.
  20. It's pretty much Black Sabbath worship from start to finish (even the title is a play on one of Sabbath's). Sacramentum's Far Away From the Sun. The atmosphere of this album is really great. You can really feel the ever-so-cliché black metal frosty landscapes and vast forests.

I like some of his ambient stuff and the BM stuff is pretty cool too. I don't really consider him a favorite anymore though, although I do like the songs My Journey to the Stars and War. edit: dude Sigh is awesome. duuuude. I like Filosofem, but I think he's a really overrated artist. Some of his songs just seem to pointlessly go on forever. Yeah. Hangman's Hymn made me want to get into black metal more.

Burzum is really not that good.

I don't exactly eat much but I often wake up fatter than I was the day before.

I love you man. ;D Who could forget Wolves in the Throne Room too? Hipster black metal, sure, but Two Hunters is awesome. Also, probably the greatest song to ever come out of the genre: [yt]4B6az2nciSU[/yt] I can't go into how much I love Sigh without hitting fanboy overdrive. Just get Imaginary Sonicscape, Gallows Gallery, and Hangman's Hymn: Musikalische Exequien and be prepared to have your minds ****ing blown.
  25. I used to know a guy who could nail every character in almost every series ever. Good times were had.
