You're forgetting to take into consideration combat levels. At low levels magic is very effective in f2p, espcially with rc guild robes instead of those flimsy wizard robes. And those 5 seconds are extremely handy, I've killed any number of runners after rooting them to the spot. (Sadly I can't do anything about teleporters.) Higher levels you have to be able to switch styles. The reason why f2p doesn't have any effective magic spells at high levels is to get you to paying for members. :wall: I got my butt handed to me by a range/mage tank in a deathmatch once. I was doing range/2h with the usual rune full helm/dhide/rune legs. If you know what you're doing, f2p mage isn't laughable. Well, a pure mage is pitiful at high levels. Hmm. How about this? We both make two accounts, level them to combat 20, and fight. I'll be the mage. You be the warrior or ranger. (If we did do this--ha! doubt it--I'll be getting 50 rc first, so it could take a few weeks.)

Mages are like heavy artillery. Rangers are like machine guns. :? I've always viewed mages as long distance fighters. If a warrior manages to close the gap the player isn't using magic right. People who usually switch to d'hide can range too, so the 'warrior' can't be classed as a warrior, but a tank or a hybrid of some kind. EDIT: Oh, and looking at the number of people crowding the f2p pvp worlds, I don't think f2p pvp is going away any time soon.

Oegly41 has it right. The same could be said for people who scream, 'pray noobs!!!' because they don't want you to use something you have an advantage on. (Being f2p, if someone prays on me I just do the 2h/range tactic, or 2h/fireblast. Time it right and it works, because they'll usually be too busy clicking on prayer protects instead of food.) You're forgetting a certain kind of player found in all sorts of games. Griefers. I disagree. I safe on my low-level mage, risking rc guild robes and assorted runes, and I still manage to get somewhat good drops ranging from mith to addy weapons and armor. (And the eternal slices of cake. My current goal is to accidentally a whole cake!) I also make use of terrain, i.e. fences. Tactics are tactics, and unless you agree to a set of rules before a fight, anything goes. This is partially true. In a fight between high levels, you'll see plenty of zeroes. For high level pking, members is best. If you can't K.O. someone because you happened to hit your max right at the start and scared them into eating, thus making it a battle of attrition, well that's your own darn fault. :lol:

Good luck trying to get a thousand people to stand on one spot. Who knows, it might even make the server crash.

The number of people able to enter a regular clan war is limited to 100. So this will have to take place in the dangerous free-for-all arena since over one thousand people are definitely participating. I wouldn't be surprised to see world 61 full on that day. Not to mention ffa is much wider than any of the featured terrains. Why on earth would you bring anti-dragon and iron shields? We're using steel. The settings are shown just as a reminder that range and magic should not be used. It is considered honorable that, if you die, you stay dead. No re-entry. This is a battle of attrition. The one who runs out of supplies last wins at the cost of high casualties.

You're forgetting the rich show-offs that strayed into the wilderness. :lol: If you pked in varrock or edgeville wildy in f2p then yes it was a lot harder. People would just run south and barely make it out alive by the skin of their gums on anywhere from 1 to 10 hp left because their opponent hit an unlucky 0. Camping the hills made it easier, and teaming helped--unless the team decides to bs or had no intention of teaming after all--and so the loot from a kill is divvied up. But a lot of pkers didn't pk just for the money. If the rewards were so low then why were so many pures roaming the wild way back then? And you'd be surprised how many people would be so protective of their rune armor or d'hide, so for f2pers it can be 'risky.' The rush, the loot, the simple choice of combat. It's still very addictive.

Members will probably have more pvp worlds, while we pitiful f2p get stuck with one. I'm thinking they should do something like they did for the release of high detail. Let the members work out the bugs first.

Not all gamers are made equal. Hardcore gamers can play Runescape too. That means hardware that can almost run Crysis. Just because I play on a semi-decent laptop doesn't mean someone else has the right to cry havoc and demand a free laptop. Unfair? I think the word 'fair' has been abused too much--just like the phrase 'I'll sue you!' People forget that many things are inherently unfair. The question is, how are you going to go around it? It's been a grindfest since the day it was out. It's just slightly less so as the years pass by. If you've been playing way back when, think of the days before "make X amount of items" or "make all amount of items." Players have it a little bit easier now.

Bsing was happening anyway while the war was going on. The leaders at least did try to kill the traitors. But it was all good fun. Things to consider: 1.)Pvp comes out before the MSSW4. If this were to happen and we went ahead with the ffa dangerous anyway, in the aftermath the survivors of the MSSW4 could hop to a pvp world. If we choose not to go the ffa route, we have to be prepared by the end of the week to invade the pvp world at any time. At any time--because we don't know when pvp comes out for certain. An announcement posted somewhere on this forum about it would be a good head's up alert. 2.)Pvp comes out shortly after the MSSW4. Rally everyone for a round 2. Hop to f2p pvp world. Swarm it. If there's an attendance of over 500 people we could split it to 5-10 companies and take over certain cities. I'm a pessimist, so I don't see this as happening. Convince me otherwise, please.

I noticed a similar thing while playing the Great Orb Project. With low detail you only have a limited view, but fire up HD and you can spot orbs appearing much, much faster. It's an advantage but not really unfair, I think. Everyone's hardware differs.

The problem with that is: what if there are too few pvp worlds? Chances are those worlds--if there are any f2p pvp--are all going to be flooded with players. :( It'd be nice if we did swarm an entire pvp world.

Zero reward at this time. Nuh-uh. Not possible in any way at all. Plenty of 120+ are roaming around. Happened. A small clan tried to sneak north along the west wall up to the abandoned greater demon ruins but bumped into a couple of high levels. Pretty funny how they all turned 180 degrees and ran south--esp. after bragging how they were going to, um, own the place. Some screenshots: This is world 3.
